Looked so relaxing. The food looked good too. Have a good weekend my friends. ❤❤😊
We appreciate that so much! Thank you! And you have a wonderful weekend, too!
Thanks for sharing this trip with us Have Bless Weekend
@michaelpardue2400 Thank you for watching. You have a blessed week, as well.
Hubby gets upset when they charge more to use a card.........we try hard to remember to have cash! Love your videos. God bless you.
@KathyWalters-ol8mh Yes, that is something we are seeing more and more, and it's always disappointing. If not all restaurants are doing it, then I don't see why others try to pretend they have to.
@NCMemoryMakers It's to help lower the costs on the service provider. When I had my business, I had to pay a monthly fee, per transaction fee and a 2.5% fee of the bill. The credit card companies have a good scam going.
@@NCMemoryMakers Give it time brother!
Nice to know that I'm not the only one who mixes their gravy, hamburger steak, and mashed potatoes! I also do it with Salisbury Steak. Regarding updating web menus, you're preaching to the deacons! Business people seem so reluctant to use technology to strengthen and build their businesses! In the 1950's, the reluctance was to spend extra for color in TV. In the 1980's I got "stay in your lane" pushback from Marketing trying to get clients to Close Caption spots. (I had a selfish reason for this. My father was very hard of hearing.) Lots of goodies on the menu. And, the two of you did your usual great review. PSE keep 'em coming and God Bless!
@johnpinckney4979 The thing about updating online menus, is that there's absolutely no point in having a menu online, if it's not correct.
The reason people look up online menus, is to get an idea of whether they want to try a place before they go, and to get an idea of what to expect.
If it's inaccurate and outdated information, it's completely pointless to even have it on there.
Looked good 🎉
@@dpmart3275 Yes, the food was very good.
Always enjoy an old timey atmosphere ! Makes the meal taste better. 😊
@@koalabear6722 Yes, it sure does. Thanks for watching!
I've ate there a couple times. Actually, I just ate there about a month ago. I looked for y'all at the Merchant's Festival, but I came a lot later this year than last. It was so hot today!
It was hot. We were there from a little before 2, until about 4, or so. We are so sorry we missed you, and we looked for you there. Glad you got to make it, anyway.
Hey y'all, good review!! I agree with you they should update their online because it can be very disappointing to have something that you have taste buds for like shrimp and grits and it's no longer on the menu. Derrick, did you taste Shawnasi's Chicken with the artichoke ? The history part of the review was great, thank you for sharing it. 😊
@sharonspivey781 I did take a bite of the artichoke inside, and it was okay. I did not taste the chicken.
And yes, we 100% agree, that an online menu needs to be updated and accurate. We have run into that in a few places, and that's always very disappointing.
you should review the captain ds in hudson! i heard they have good dinner specials on wedsnesdays and sundays
Thanks!
@@TeachingHisWord Thank you!
Glad to see the Patty Melt is on rye 😉
@@jamesallison351 I didn't even notice that. Rye is a popular type of bread to use on a Patty melt, but other types can be used, also.
The food looked great but I had a feeling that menu was outdated, prices were too reasonable. Don't you wish we could roll the prices back? ~sigh~
Shawnasi, you always look so beautiful😊
@Rebecca-wm3jr Yes, I do wish we could roll them back. Inflation has really gotten out of hand the past 4 years.
And yes, she certainly does look beautiful. Thank you so much for watching.
Staircase is probably named after Staircase Mountain going to the Globe on Old 90, heading to Blowing Rock.
I think you're right about that. We visited my mom who lives in Lenoir, right after we left there, and she was telling us the origin of some of the names.
Cutting back on portions is a good idea.
Yes, it sure is!
Great video! Did you get A1 for your hamburger steak? Thanks for Sharing!
@@GPgundude I did. It's in the little cup.
Please try Franklinville Diner!!! Not far from the NC Zoo
@trevamcbride8514 That's a long way to go for us, just to try a diner. This was more local for us. We'd have to already be down that way.
Hope you are having a great day
We hope you are, as well.
Your food looked delicious. As for the salt comment, the CEO would be presumptuous in judging me for adding salt first. I have low sodium levels and have been medically advised to add salt to my food.
Yes, you are the second person who has mentioned that their doctor advised them to increase salt content. Also, that is the second time this person has come on a video and criticized my salt use. I have no idea why he thinks that is appropriate, or okay to do. He has no idea what he's talking about, or what advice my doctors have given me.
Thank you for watching, and for commenting! I fully agree with you, about the CEO, as well.
As a “Salt-a-holic”.. I concur that I do not like the twist salt shakers. My food looks like snow capped mountains when I’m done
Yeah, and it seems that most restaurants are going to those, now.
These looked different than the ones I usually see, so I actually thought I was just going to shake the salt out...LOL.
I agree with Kathy blablabl most places charge for a card complaining doesn't help
@JennyMiller-c8d Doesn't matter what you agree with. We put the information in the video so that our viewers will know. Being informative is part of doing a review.
And no, most restaurants don't, although the number of ones that do, are increasing. There are still many who don't.
So, perhaps you don't understand the difference between complaining, and informing?
In the future, we will thank you to be more respectful and polite with your comments.
Prices seem pretty steep.
@@collinwilliams1266About like everywhere else
You've got Auburn colors on.
@TeachingHisWord It's a dark coral
I agree, those grind shakers are not my cup of tea either.
Yeah, it's almost like having to work for your food at a restaurant...LOL.
I too not a fan of salt and pepper mills. Biggest complaint pepper too big. I thought presentation and portion size lacking.
@@GaryLetfordThe portion size was small. But like we said in the video, we did that on purpose. We ordered something that would be a smaller portion size.

@@pouponcrazycat5987Are you saying you went to Freedom High?
A quick story. A Fortune 50 CEO tells how he often hires people. When out for dinner if the candidate puts salt on his food before he even has tired it it’s a no. Candidate assumes before assessing facts
@carsonroyal3519 Well, here's a fact...I've eaten enough mashed potatoes in my 55 years, and enough hamburger meat in my 55 years, that I already know I want salt on it.
I don't see that trying it somewhere else at this point, is going to tell me that I don't.
And if a potential businessman is looking to hire me, and he thinks he's going to tell me how to eat my food, then I'll go to work somewhere else. Because nobody's doing that, not even the President of the United States.
And if somebody wants to base their hiring of me, on what I like on my food, and not how I do the job, then I don't see how they ever got to be in a successful position to start with, for being that dumb.
Many have tried that on this channel, and it hasn't worked out well for them one time.
Hey, buddy, I need you to do me a favor..... stop trying to tell me how to eat. That's a couple of times now. I asked you the other week not to, and here you're doing it again.
@@NCMemoryMakers I understand. However you missed the point. He isn’t telling anyone how to eat their food. Simply saying what if the food already had tons of salt on it. He wouldn’t know because he hasn’t assessed the situation thoroughly before making a decision
@carsonroyal3519 in fact, here is a comment I made to you the last time you mentioned about salt. Ironically, I told you then that I thought my mashed potatoes, and that's pretty much a given.
QUOTE: "And unless it's a food that I always put salt on, I generally do taste it first to see if it needs it. Something like mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese, it's pretty much a given that I'm going to salt it."
This was mashed potatoes and hamburger steak, so as I said before, salt is a given.
@@NCMemoryMakers absolutely your choice. You seem to get kinda upset. I’ll share with you. I’ve had a heart condition and blood pressure issues. all cardiologist agree salt intake increases the risk substantially. I cut back years ago and think the good lord no problem. I enjoy your channel and just don’t want you to experience any problems that others have
@@carsonroyal3519 Okay, but a person can make a mistake on food, but that has no bearing on his qualifications to do the job.
I disagree with the CEO, and if that was his litmus test, then he'd just have to find someone else.
Because if a person has experience with a particular food and already knows based on that experience how they like it, that should not be used as a criteria on how they would perform their job, on a completely unrelated topic like food. It should not be assumed, that they would not assess the situation. Mashed potatoes are not a situation.
And I'm yet to go to a restaurant anywhere, that the mashed potatoes are already salted.
I got the point. I just don't agree with it, and I know you already like to presume to lecture me about salt.
I definitely agree about updating online menus. Otherwise, it's very misleading.
@trudivecchione9642 Yes, an online menu definitely needs to be accurate...in price and in items listed.
