The thing about Colm that's so impressive is his sheer range of talent. Beautiful tenor? Check. Soulful baritone? You got it. Cellulite-shaking bass? Let’s RUMMMBLE. Plays an instrument? Literally all of them.
@@user-jt1js5mr3f you really should. I can see skipping the others if the first doesn't do it for you, but definitely watch the first all the way through at least once.
I really appreciate that you covered not only All stars and I'm a believer but also parts of the soundtrack wich are really good and too often forgotten when we talk about Shreck soundtrack. Great cover keep up the good work ! :)
Somebody once told me That Colm was gonna troll me I can't get this song out of my heeeead. Seriously though this video is awesome. Keep up the fantastic work, Colm.
that is because John Powell wrote the original scores for Shrek and How to train your dragon so i think there might be some minor connection between the melodies. only some one who understands the theory of how the music is written can explain it better than me
John Powell and Harry Gregson-Williams composed the score of Chicken Run (which has no right to be as awesome and inspiring as it is), and part of a melody in its title score is re-used as a major part of Toothless's motif in How to Train Your Dragon... also scored by John Powell, as pieter above notes. Harry Gregson-Williams scored Sinbad, as well.
She was locked away in a castle guarded by a terrible fire-breathing dragon. Many brave knights had attempted to free her from this dreadful prison, but none prevailed.
i put this song on in my dnd session for some tavern ambience sufficed to say, none of us were expecting to her 'im a believer' by smash mouth in a tavern style
So lively and beautiful! Love the covers❤ Would love to also get full versions of the purely instrumently songs - they sound magical with your instruments
THIS....is surprising, but in a good way. Haven't watched the films in a very long time and can't really remember the soundtrack but I'm curious what you'll do with it😁
And the bard gathered an incredible crowd too large for the little tavern as he reimagined the memories of the Ogre and his Princess, bringing an odd sense of nostalgia in those dark ages.
Would you be willing to do a Scottish sea shanty? Its 'Leis a Lurighan'. Most versions are in English with just the title phrase in Scottish Gaelic. Its about a ship caught in a horrible storm and the captain telling his men to go below if they're scared or don't trust him. My all time favorite version (so far?) is by 'Scatter The Mud' ua-cam.com/video/7gCynTHQwbE/v-deo.html There are quite a few versions but only this one really captures the feel of the song for me.
I have a request!!! The cover you did of Misty Mountains is absolutely beautiful, and I'd really like to hear more of it. Could you please, please do a full version (with the full lyrics, found in The Hobbit book)?
Off the wall suggestion. There is an old folk song here in the states called "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" written by Darrell Scott. I think that it is begging for an Irish trad cover. Keep up the awesome work sir 👍
Can't wait I'm always excited for a colm video!!! Also I don't know if you're taking requests right now, but I would love to hear the "Nightingale" from black flag!
This brings back so many memories of when I was a little kid! I’d watch Shrek on video cassette and would literally watch all the way through the credits because the songs they played were so awesome. I especially loved ‘I Wanna Stay Home Today’. It’s a hidden gem that should totally be covered if you make part 2. Thank you for this, Colm!
This hits not only from Shrek, but for some reason also reminds me of Morrowind, at this the beginning. I've only been listening for a couple weeks, but you've rapidly become one of my favorite artists. Not just "on UA-cam" but overall. Something about your music and singing just brings a bit of brightness to my day. Thank you so much for what you do, and I greatly look forward to what you bring in the future :D Hope all is going well otherwise in your life
Of course you did. I've felt like this was inevitable since I saw you meme All Star on one of the socials. lol I love it! Even when you're being silly, it sounds beautiful.
i’m surprised how amazing the non song music sounds. if i didn’t know better i would think it’s from one of the how to train your dragon movies or shows
I know nothing about music. Can't sing, can't play, can't even dance without someone calling the paramedics -- but I know what I like. This guy's stuff is great.
I like that you did the instrumental tunes and not just the popular songs included in the soundtrack. A lot of people forget that Shriek’s Soundtrack is more than just “All Star” and “Believer” (including me, lol 😆). So, thanks for this, Colm.
If I actually turned my story into something bigger I would definitely ask this guy to perform the in-universe folk songs for it, with generous pay, ofc
Should we do a PART 2???
I would actually rather that you did some of the music numbers from the Musical.
Like Who I´ed Be or Big Bright Beautiful World.
Ouiiiiiiiiiiiii !!!!!
Super !!!!!!!!!😁👍🏼

Is that a trick question?
That question don't even needs an answer because the yes is written in big bright and neon letters.

Not even normal instruments, all the cool ones from old times. I swear, if he pulls out a Hurdy Gurdy, I'm gonna scream. Man's talent is incredible.
"Cellulite" Yes. That's what's a'quiverin'.
Bass is my favorite but I'm a biased bassophile 😅
This comment says it all.
A song so good it became Dreamworks' own "When you wish a upon a star" theme that plays before every film.
Ah, is that from shrek? Never finished the first one

The OST is amazing, and such an amazing duo of composers too!
He's all of it. A beautifully tenor-baritone-bass singer, a fucking multi-instrumentalist, handsome AF.
I never knew I needed this in my life, but apparently I do.
I thought the exact same thing
YES
It would probably be good to have a collaboration with other singers on such tavern versions, to have that tavern friends choir aesthetic
That would be cool!
The build at 3:22 is masterfully composed, so epic!
What's the name of this soundtrack?
@@christosgraikos That piece is called ‘Ride the Dragon’.
Un ironically I'd love a full version of the instrumental parts and all star its all so good tho
Agreed, the instrumental part at the beginning was really beautiful
Whoa... I didn't expect this to be an homage to the entire Shrek musical soundtrack! Well played!
This was too good! You really got me at the Fiona and bird duet, and the cover of "All Stars."
I have to share this with all my friends! 😭
CHEERS! 🍻
🍻🤜🤛
The greatest hidden gem in the Shrek movies and he starts off with it! I appreciate that so much!
The instrumentals just hit in all the right spots, it’s fantastic Colm!

Oh golly YES. One of my favorite movies getting the Colm treatment for soundtrack?! Weekend came early this week...
Once upon a time there was a lovely princess. But she had an enchantment upon her of a fearful sort which could only be broken by love's first kiss.
She was locked away in a castle guarded by a terrible fire-breathing dragon. Many brave knights had attempted to free her from this dreadful prison, but none prevailed.
