If you think about it, ranboo was probably burning in the water. Techno probably knew that, which made leaving him so much harder.
remember ranboo is only half enderman so water doesn't affect him
@@demangel20 I’m pretty sure it does, I think he has scars on his face from tears burning him and he’s mentioned in the past building up a resistance to water using the steam from splash potions

Actually that's why he wears the armor, so that it protects him from water as well
Him being forced to take off the armor made the stakes higher in this situation
The contrast of Ranboo drowning helplessly & struggling to walk in the water, to Sam quickly moving through the same water & attacking from behind with complete ease. Then TOWERING over Ranboo. Sam's in control and he knows it, that was shown so well here! The fact he's drawn totally in shadow adds to how ominous it feels. And Techno's expression going from friendly to rage-filled, watching his disciple get struck down. He's serious now, engaging in battle with Sam, who wasn't expecting the fierce strikes. This was so good!

I love how technos voice dosnt fit his body, but elegant sword swings and strikes seem perfect for his character. Amazing.
Lots of characters voices might not seem fit until you get used to them really
it sorta does, it just depends.
I still prefer when the actual audio is used rather than re-voicing everything. "Technoblade and Philza vs the World" was epic, but I was disappointed that it needed voice-acting. Sad-ist is excellent at fitting livestream sound clips to animatics and making it epic, but I greatly prefer Solid Helium's Technoblade design.

The blade was at Ranboo's chest, but Ranboo didn't seem to notice. "You have the wrong hostage, Sam!" Techno begged. He had never begged before. Not like this. "Dream doesn't care!" And just like that, Techno knew he had said the wrong thing. The frustration, the desperation in Sam's eyes calcified in a split second. Techno saw it before it happened. Sam's weight shifted. His fist tightened around the sword. "I CARE!" Techno tried to take it back, to say the one thing that might stop the inevitable. But it was too late. The blade slashed upward. Droplets of red and green hung like gems in the sunlight, frozen in time. Ranboo's hands went limp. He was dead before he hit the water.

You see at the end, Sam doesn't rip the sword out to be badass but keeps the sword in for medical reasons. Taking out the sword would open up the wound again. What a smart cookie

I was literally thinking the exact same thing, because in most animatics/animations they just take it out like “who cares” and my mind just goes “YEAH AND NOW YOU BLEED OUT, GREAT JOB.” Love the detail in this animation

You go to the hospital and the property surgeons take it out cuz they have the training and equipment to keep you from bleeding out

I love the details in this animatic, and Ill list them and their timestamps beside them
1. Ranboo doesn't know how to swim and kind of just flails helplessly in the water (0:12 - 0:22)
2. I love the size comparison between Ranboo and Sam. To me, it helps drive home the fact that he's pretty much a kid (0:53)
3. I don't know if this counts, but Il include it. I love how Sam seems to know he's in control of the situation, while Ranboo struggles through the water, Sam walks through it with ease. Another thing is that Ranboo loses his sword so he can't fight back, but Sam does, actually having a trident and a sword, which prevented Ranboo from just fighting back (1:00-1:06)
4. Techno closed Ranboo's eyes. In one scene Ranboo's eyes are open and in the next scene, their closed (2:55 - 3:06)
5. Sam didn't immediately pull the broken sword out, the reason why you wouldn't want to, is because the object is preventing more bleeding. (3:17-3:22

GOD the fact that ranboo is already commonly depicted to be tall as all hell, but sam coming along absolutely towering over him is a terrifying concept

Also, I love the detail that Sam is drawn as physically huge, almost comparable in size to Techno, to show you how much of a threat he is. I have not personally ever seen Sam in real action, but seeing him in this animation makes me scared of him.
Small praise of the last shot there: A pet peeve of mine in media is that everyone rips out an impaled sword or arrow to look cool when that’s how you lose blood and die FAST. Thank you for showing Sam not doing that XD

Ranboo is so small, he look’s so much younger, it hit me in the feels.
Sam is has an absolutely amazing look, the style and design go really well together.
I love the way you make action scenes, especially with the swords ringing.

this whole scene breaks my heart repeatedley, but I espescially love that in 2:56 you can see Ranboo's eyes are still open, but in 3:05 they're closed! Techno was under fire from multiple people but took the time and closed Ranboo's eyes😭

THIS IS INSANE!! The amount of realistic details your put into their emotion, movement and shots it’s actually amazing. I loved when Ranboo got stabbed, Techno immediately rushed towards Sam to attack him because he was so mad. Even the water details are so good, just everything about this was so interesting and outstanding.

When Sam slid behind behind Ranboo in the water that was the smoothest transition ever. I also want to point out what an amazing job Solid Helium did at changing the perspective and sound effects. They also made the fight scenes and facial expressions feel so real. Great music too, it matched the scene perfectly.
Also does anyone else feel like crying at how sad Ranboo's death was

Absolutely love that you made Ranboo look physically younger! It adds so much more emotion and really gets the fact across that Ranboo was literally just a kid! Also, the whole video is so cinematic is amazinggggg
The way you animate action scenes is so, so good! I love how quickly-paced the fighting is, falling into the slower speed once Ranboo dies as if time itself stops. The little details of Ranboo pushing himself out of the water by propelling his foot, and Sam being stabbed with the broken blade make it much more alive and immersive! It's just so cool!
the shattering of the sword was beautifully done, and I'm nearly in tears-
I love all of the emotions showen in this even the almost panicked look in Sam's eyes as he's trying to block all of Techno's rage filled swings

Wow-- just wow. I’m truly blown away by how perfect this is. I love dream’s desperate expressions, The difference between Sam’s aggressive and Techno’s graceful fighting styles, Ranboo’s death scene and it’s emotion, the psychotic nature of techno after Ranboo died, Sam’s character design, THIS SCENE OMG 0:51, Techno closing Ranboo’s eyes and taking the paper :(, and the detail of Sapnap being the first person dream was fighting and both their expressions being both regretful and aggressive. Perfection.

THIS IS A THING OF BEAUTY and I love how everyone looks and feels and how small and defenceless Ranboo feels in the begining
WHERE TO EVEN BEGIN
I mean the raw emotion in this is beautiful! The fighting with the swords beautifully made with each move and each swing impotent and planned out. I mean that small scene with Dream perfectly showed his skill as a fighter! And don’t even get me started on the animation. I mean the amount of effort you put into the smallest of things is beautiful. The clothing, the water, the faces, the fighting it’s all so perfect and the effort put into it is so clear. And when Sam pulled out the picture and threw it towards Ranboo, I mean the desperate urge to get the picture and hold it close to his chest shows his love for his son and how much it would hurt to have anything happen to him. And how Ranboo looked guilty when he took the armor off starting back at Techno with the soft line of he has Micheal was such a perfect line in of its self but you captured it so well. And the utter panic when Ranboo was being threatened was so perfect. And the slow version of his death, the slash across his chest as he fell to the water. Which is so poetic to have Ranboo die in the water with no armor surrounded in his own blood. AND THE RAGE SHOWN WITH TECHNO BUT THEN WORRIED ABOUT HIS FRIEND WAS SO PERFECT. Seriously amazing work with this it was genuinely so fun to watch.

The blows between Sam and Technoblade with trident and sword reminds me of the first few seconds of the one-on-one duel between padawan Obi-wan Kenobi and Darth Maul right after Qui-gon was stabbed. Beautiful! One of the few animators I re-watch frame-by-frame!

this is the first DSMP animation that's made me genuinely tear up in quite a while. The fight scenes left me with my mouth wide open and with a feeling i haven't felt since the peak of DSMP animations/animatics during like pogtopia and everything. You are so unbelievably talented

Holy crap- I saw this in my recommendations and I’m completely mind blown at this animation- this brings so much emotion and intensity to the moment- I especially love when Sam and Techno duel it out with the trident and sword, it really shows both of their skill. And him lifting a dead ranboo’s head with micheal’s picture was so somber- I love this animation so much from the first watch!

The fighting is animated perfectly, the character design is amazing, and the way it ties together with the original audio and music is just Chef’s Kiss. ⟟ love this animatic and ⟟ will definitely find it so entertaining and emotional when ⟟ watch it again.

I love the design and the facial expressions of Dream! I mean, he is doing this badass fight against two and after a while he looking annoyed (0:30-0:31) Like he’s thinking „Why are you not dead yet? Get out of my way!“ That is so cool!
This looked so good! The lighting! The movements! The expressions! All of it was fantastic and well done. I especially like you you started the short. It's a small thing, but it makes sense why Ranboo can't swim seeing as he can't really touch water without being hurt.

The moment Sam closes in on Ranboo and is just towering over him is just sending chills. You can see Ranboo is helpless but that moment makes you feel just how helpless he is

Sam's character design is so amazing. It's exactly what it should be: capable of comforting but also bone-chillingly terrifying in combat. I have no complaints 😄😄

But i absolutely adore your fight scenes (how techno's fighting style at the end their reflects his anger), and the audio (the music, the sound effects aaaa). The design for Ranboo is just...he looks so small, so young, and it's heartbreaking.

Your animations have this sort of gritty impactfulness, like each movement is punctuated with some sort of perspective shift or ‘camera’ movement that makes it so much more visually compelling
the fighting was absolutely stunning. dynamic and intense and aaaa this is one of the best dsmp animations I've seen in a long time. Your character design, their expressions, ohhh So Good. I love that Ranboo is tall, but you made sure Sam and Techno felt so much bigger than him!!
I love how much smaller Ranboo was than both Sam and Techno, imo it really drove home the point that even though Ranboo is married and has a kid, he's kinda still a kid himself (I dunno his canon age but I assume it's around Tubbo's and Tommy's at 17/18). The animation was FREAKING BEAUTIFUL???? Everyone's expressions, their fluid movements, it was all INSANE, this was incredibly well-done!!

Oh my god, your work never disappoints, the cinematography, the smoothness, the fighting style, the emotion. Sam is so menacing when he appear behind Ranboo, you captured the emotion of Ranboo's death perfectly, my heart sank when that scene came up. You can feel the rage emitting from Techno when he's fighting Sam after he killed Ranboo! He. Is. LIVID. Also the ending with Techno and Ranboo my god, you really know how to capture emotions, Techno closing Ranboo's eyes, and clutching the photo of Michael, as he leaves. Beautiful as always!

The fighting sequence was so awesome! During the scene when c!Techno confronted c!Sam after killing c!Ranboo, I expected a lot of emotion from c!Techno's anger towards him in the lore and it really translated well through your animatic! Great job, love all of the character designs that were featured in here too!
Holy shit. How? I honestly didn’t cry when ranboo died cause it was kindaaaaa sudden but so many tears have been shed for this one- man, this was so well done- not only that but just the animating in general- I’m speechless
woahh I have no idea how I'm just now seeing this animatic- it's crazy good and I love the artstyle, the audio, the animation is all perfect. The storytelling really gets through with all the sound effects and the different perspectives added in. Great work as always!!

I like how you called this "Ranboo's Choice" In my opinion, there's an argument to be made that Ranboo made a split-second decision and realized Michael's best chance was for Techno to save him in an act of revenge. That's a good father right there.
