The car had quite an adventurous life. It caught fire at least twice and lost a wheel in front of Dick Johnson during the '89 Tooheys 1000.

It’s definitely played its part on the unlucky side of history. I can see why Murray sold it back in the day!

I remember going to a Mallala in the 90s watching the touring cars and Andrew was there in his white RS500. Parked up on the mound along the back straight.
    Drool!

They’re a great looking car. Very rare to see one out in the wild nowadays!

Twenty grand for a Sierra RS500! That sounds like money well spent. Murray is one of Australian motorsport's genuine legends, and he's also a helluva nice guy! He deserved better luck than he ever had with this car.

I knew Andrew from his days working from his family home, in the garage at Redwood Park, in the north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide, selling Escort parts from the UK. The pizza bar I was working at made the best spicy pizzas in the area, according to Andrew. That was a very, very long time ago.

It’s a small world! I’m guessing this pizza bar is long gone? Wouldn’t mind trying this famous spicy pizza!

Ha, I worked in that garage packing/ making parts and making the velo seats very early on. He moved to Holden Hill where things picked up, I got my trade in composites , the escort stuff died off leaving development for seats . I was there from around 1988 till 2003. Andy was a good boss and a great friend . I remember opening the workshop 1 morning there was the Murray Carter Sierra where a work bench was plus maybe 15 Cosworth heads, and 100 tyres stacked to the roof of the shed !
