- Welcome back movie masters! In this video, we delve into a detailed comparison between the DJI Air 3 and the Mini 3 Pro (or Mini 4 Pro, practically the same). Having used both extensively, I'll provide my honest insights into whether the upgrade is worth it.
First off, let's talk about the Mini 3 Pro. It served me well for a while, but with a gimbal issue and shaky footage, it was time for an upgrade. Enter the DJI Air 3. From the moment I started flying it, I was blown away.
The handling in windy conditions, increased speed, maneuverability, and enhanced quality were immediately noticeable. The new controller and drone combination felt buttery smooth, akin to playing a flawless video game. Despite high wind warnings, the Air 3 outperformed expectations, just like its predecessor.
Battery life is advertised at 46 minutes, but realistically it averages around 30 to 35 minutes, still an improvement over the Mini 3 Pro. Additionally, the Air 3 boasts a max height of 1000 meters and a range of up to 15 kilometers, along with two lenses and three times zoom capability. However, note that crossing the 250-gram mark means obtaining a license.
One gripe I had was with the Air 3's design, particularly the order in which the arms must be extended for setup, unlike the Mini 3 Pro's flexibility.
Comparing sizes, while they may not look drastically different, the feel in hand is distinct. It's like transitioning from a small car to a four-wheel drive. The new guidance system also deserves a mention, making crashing nearly impossible in city or normal mode.
Ultimately, was the upgrade worth it? Absolutely. While both drones offer 4K quality, it's the Air 3's usability and handling that shine, not to mention the added features like the three-time zoom lens and extended range. If you're serious about drone photography or videography, I highly recommend making the switch.

I actually upgraded from my Mini 2 to an Air 3. Number 1 difference from the Mini is far far better wind resistance. Then the tele camera. 360 obstacle avoidance, Ocusync 4, far longer flight time. And the software difference like waypoints, hyper lapse. On and on and on. I’m thrilled with it.
