Haha! You are SO right with Sweden never ever skipping Melodifestivalen 😁😁 Apart from the money part, it's also a complete hype for so many people spanning from like January to May. Basically, what we have to look forward to every year is Melodifestivalen and Vasaloppet. It's "folkfest"!

As for the three nordic countries. Denmark is absolutely lovely, I really enjoy the upbeat and happy vibes. Not the best there is but in my top 20 and a very good refrain in the mix of darker and more dancy songs we have this year. Iceland was top 5 for me, and the expected winner for a lot of folks. It's fantastic, and I am so happy that Iceland is back to elite form. They clearly wanna win. Lastly, Sweden... The Mamas grew on me. I wasn't in love with this at first but I really have come to love this one. I always liked them the most of any Swedish entry since Loreen, but they are just such good performer that I couldn't help coming to love this one. It is FINALLY not just an attractive guy with a dime a dozen solid pop song, and that really means a lot. Good on ya, Sweden.
I'm swedish, and I too am just so SICK of a single handsome guy being charming on the eurovision stage (except Måns of course). I can't say I have the statistics, but the general consensus in sweden is that kids are the main voting group, as it's many times a family thing to watch melodifestivalen. Also the groups who are identified to watch mostly are, besides children, middle-aged women and elderly people. So the children and the women probably often vote BECAUSE someone is handsome ;)
And there they are - my (and a lot of other people's) winner of Eurovision 2020..... ICELAND! ❤️ I adored it to pieces even before I learned that the song is about his infant daughter, and that his wife is the curly haired woman on keytar, and that his sister is the blonde backup singer, and that the whole group is just like a big charming family. I'm so obsessed with it I legit could have cried when they finally announced that Daði og Gagnamagnið will be back for 2021. As for my own country, The Mamas weren't who I voted for. They beat out the big favorite to win by one point, but even as it happened, I couldn't be anything but moved (pun intended). As much as I still love the crap out of the other song, and actually think it would have had a chance to finish top 3 in Rotterdam, The Mamas never ever fail to put a smile on my face. Well, except for when they won. My friend and I legit cried when John Lundvik went down on one knee as he presented them with their trophy, and the four of them basically collapsed in a blubbering hugging mess right there on stage. It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. I'm really happy they at least got a spot in Melodifestivalen this year. It's not much, but by Melodifestivalen standards, it's still kind of a big deal that the producers basically said "If you want to compete next year, we're reserving a spot for you." Hopefully they'll come with a killer song!
Iceland made another video for their song, really worth watching. The Mamas were 4 and one of them went back to the US and the other 3 stayed as a group and they are competing in Melodifestivalen. Uku is also competing in his NF, the duo from Denmark is not coming back. Romania and Iceland kept their artists.
So glad you like the song from Denmark. It's a good song, very folk-indie and reminds me a lot of the song "Ho Hey" by the Luminers. We'll be having a new contest here in Denmark this year, but Ben & Tan won't be competing. Sweden is also doing a new contest and the Mamas WILL be competing.
My rankings: 1. Iceland (no question the quirkiest and funnest song, and one of my favorites to win...well, if only) 2. Sweden (gospel-style singing is so missing in Eurovision, well-produced, smooth) 3. Denmark (sounded a little Irish/Gaelic instead of country but great singing and staging to go with a rousing song) 4. Romania (interesting sound, the staged version is okay, but not good enough for top 3) 5. Estonia (bland power pop, don't think it would make it past the semifinals)

The reason Denmarks Ben and Tan apperance was played in an empty arena was of course of the Corona virus , but 10 days before the broadcastes were told that it was locked down, standing with a live orchestra and arena setting for tv as well. Thats why they went that way the efford from all the workers on the tv show shouldnt go to waste , so all could have some sort of tv show in the tv
I actually think Iceland would have won to be honest. I'm not sure how much it would have mattered, but as their intro (when the tv-commentators present the artist with a tidbit) they erased the ambiguity that some non-english speakers could have with the song by mentioning he wrote this for his newborn, and that his wife is on one of the keytars. I know it at least changed how I listen to the song. With that little information they have a VERY strong song lyrically. They have the funny part, the beautiful part of the concept, and a very distinct, catchy and rememberable style. He is just SO musically gifted too, it's impossible not to love.
I was in the audience during The Mamas performance in Melodifestivalen. It was SO GOOD live! But you have to watch Anna Bergendahl - Kingdom come, and Dotter - Bulletproof. Those were ALSO amazing!
I was really rooting for Anna.. wanted her 10 year redemption. After 2021 Mello DOtter is apparently pretty miffed (losing to The Mamas twice by ONE POINT apparently just too much).

he runs a very serious risk of non qualifying, since the song is very cheesy and derivative. Also, his very VERY offensive comments about wanting to be the first POC soloist to win ESC left me and many other people with our mouths hanging open: Apparently to him, Loreen (Moroccan/African ancestry) isnt a POC. THen there's Netta and Dana International both Israeli Jews. None of them are considered caucasian. Apparently this clueless boy thinks only BLACK people count as POC.
oh my god if you think roxen's pronunciation of english isn't that good then I'm fucked haha i think I had more trouble understanding some parts of the denmark song tbh than with romania's but that might be bc my english is worse than i thought XDD
The Mamas participated this year too, and they ended up on 3rd place in the final last night. Even though I love the winner, I'm sad for the Mamas that they got totally robbed of eurovision...
Oh Estonia...at least Uku's song for Eesti Laul this year is better. Roxen's coming back for Romania (hopefully with a better song.) I've got nothing for Denmark lol. Iceland tho! Daði og Gagnamagnið are back and we'll get their song in March! The Mamas are doing Melodifestivalen this year again, so fingers crossed! Also, I think you'll really enjoy the song from Bulgaria!
Oh Iceland, what a shame Eurovision was cancelled, they were my absolute winners and this was their chance to finally win 😭😭 However, just for you to know, Dadi is coming back this year with all the members of Gagnamagnid (their song is going to be released on March 13th) and The Mamas are participating in Melodifestivalen again, in the fourth semifinal, with a song called "In the middle". P.D.: you should listen to Feel the love, the latest Dadi song, it's so good (not as good as Think about things though 😂😂)
Group 4 is sooooo strong. The Nordic countries rarely disappoint me though, so I'm not shocked. And that funny looking squiggly d in Icelandic is a th sound, if that helps with your pronunciation attempts. And the letter G in Icelandic is truly confusing, it behaves differently depending on where it lands in a word and what letters surround it. You could spend hours reading about it. Haha.
@@JakesFaceReacts In my experience, Icelanders are super forgiving of you being completely baffled by their language. They are aware of how tricky it is. I once pronounced one small word of Icelandic correctly and the woman at the burger joint gave me a high five. Hahaha. If covid ever goes away, you really should visit Iceland. The people are amazing and you'll have the best time.
@@JakesFaceReacts I went in 2015 soon after my mum passed away and it was such a special time for me. The people of Iceland don't even know, but they helped me find my way through the grief. I was planning to go back in 2020, but covid happened. However, I made a promise to myself in 1997 that if Iceland ever won Eurovision, I'd go to Iceland the next year and see Eurovision live.
Iceland is coming back. The group is the singer and his family. His wife and siblings. It's so sad that some countries are doing a national final again instead of sending the person who won last year. From the Scandinavian countries my favorite is by far Norway. I can't wait to see your reaction to that.
Daði's wife (playing the "guitar") and sister (one of the backing singer) are also in the band Gagnamagnið. You are allowed to be 6 on stage in Eurovision so they can all stay :)
I've got just one wish. If it's okay with you, please add any comments during listening to the clip(of course providing that you have any in mind. It shouldn't be forced). Finally someone who doesn't think that Romania is one of the favs! I love Iceland. Their song is about a newborn of the main singer and the girl with short, curly hair. From this group I also like Sweden and Denmark but for me Dotter should have represented Sweden last year.
I highly reccomend listeting to Cherry Red by Roxen and a few songs from Sweden: Bulletproof, Kingdom Come, Ballerina, Brave And i have to add im gonna miss Ben&Tan this year😓😭 love their song
ICELAND MY WINNER FOREVER AND EVER. I strongly believe we would have gone to Reykjavik this year were it not for the damn Covid. The song is about Dadi's daughter, who was a toddler and couldn't speak yet, and he is wondering what she will think about the things in the world. So touching, especially if you consider that the girl with curly hair is his wife and the blonde vocalist is his sister. All in the family. And with the touch of Icelandic weirdness that we love. And to support my thesis, this song came to Italian Radios! 1) the contest never happened, yet the song arrived, 2) even if the contest had taken place, it would still be ODD to hear Esc songs on the radio.. it almost never happens (Sanremo songs don't count): Euphoria was played a bit and Greece 2005 are the only 2 examples that come to my mind. DK & SWE very feel good songs! ESTONIA is a big NO, kinda boring... ROMANIA, a bit overrated imo (and I just can't listen to the phrase "fake news" and stay serious)
@@karinseregni221 I couldn’t believe they actually worked it into the lyrics! Have you seen all the hate I’m getting in the comments for this group by the way? Sorry I try to be honest. 💚✌️
@@JakesFaceReacts honesty always pays. I'm sorry to hear that, but I rather listen to someone who is honest, even if we don't agree (and btw, I agree with you), than to someone who doesn't give their real insight. No song that was intended for eESC 2020 and performed and released in time for 2020 will be able to quilify for esc2021....due to rules regarding on when the song was released/performed...so basicly all countries must send "new" songs for 2021
As a Swede I can tell you a bit of melodifestivalen. One of the mamas left the group after the entry in 2019 with John Lundvik. In 2021 they are competing in melodifestivalen.
@@JakesFaceReacts As a Swede I can confirm that they are competing in Melodifestivalen. Our National final. They are competing in semifinal 4. Song number 4 with a song called ”In The middle”
I was laughing so hard, this was fun. I was also very confused by the Estonian song. The Romanian song means Romania does not want to win in 2021. When poorer countries send kind of awkward songs the harsh reality is, they can’t afford to host the contest. A title and lyrics about alcohol won’t go down well across Europe. Melodifestivalen in Sweden starts this Saturday. Saw it advertised on tv earlier this week. The Mamas won’t compete and the decision was made in 2020 that because the 2020 finals was cancelled, 2020 had to be history so to speak. I’m mostly curious about the stage visuals because if there is one thing the Swedish public broadcaster, SVT, does very well, it’s live events and great stage productions.
Iceland and Sweden were so good. About the Iceland one, the singer sings about his daughter (baby) - that he can't wait to talk to her about things. And Sweden - The Mamas really remind me of the Muses from Disney Hercules xD Also 21:00 - Nostradamus 2.0. :D
@@susannaviles I would go to see it. First row hehe. Also, can we imagine what it would sound (and look) like if we had a duet The Mamas feat. Destiny from Malta. Would be epic I think 😁
The rule should be that you are required to sing in your native language. It would have vastly improved the first 2 songs. It would not have made them good songs, but at least it would have made them stand out a bit.
Roxen'a live performance puts the video to shame. For one, she doesn't have nearly as thick an accent live as she seemed to on the recording, and for another her vocals are VERY good. Maybe not as high on this as other folks but I had it in my top 20.
I just hope she is coming back in 2021. There were brilliant vocal moments there. Maybe this will give her the chance to find a better song. Love love love her voice.💚✌️
I had it in my top 5. I thought it was excellent, and i didn't think her accent was strong at all. I understood everything she was saying, but i can't say the same for like, Ben, in the Ben and Tan song, for example.
Does anyone feel so far that last year would have been an amazingly strong eurovision year? I feel based on national selections thus far that we are no where near the same level as last year. ☹️still keep on wondering how it would have been.
I think this was a strong year for a lot of countries. Iceland has never won, but probably finally had the chance. Not to mention, I think this was a year when people wouldn't immediately be bored with spain, and hate whatever germany brings.... it feels like they really needed the 2020 entries, self-esteem-wise 😂
Uku will participate in the national final. ROXEN will return. Ben & Tan we don't know yet (new selection but we don't know if they will compete) Daði & Gagnamagnið will return (my favorites) The Mamas will participate in national Final.
Tonight its the final in swedish Melodifestivalen and it will also be the end of an era for Christer Björkman who has been the producer for 20 years. Just wanted to say congratulations to the US beacuse no he is moving to your country. So why and what is he going to do there? American Song contest.

THen there's Netta and Dana International both Israeli Jews. None of them are considered caucasian. Apparently this clueless boy thinks only BLACK people count as POC.
@@ZakhadWOW what is POC?
@@elifan06 "person of color" referring to Noncaucasians
@@ZakhadWOW oh ok
Romania was fine, I like the voice and it wasn't boring (like the majority of Eurovision entries imho)
oh my god if you think roxen's pronunciation of english isn't that good then I'm fucked haha i think I had more trouble understanding some parts of the denmark song tbh than with romania's but that might be bc my english is worse than i thought XDD
I like your videos. One of the best chanells for me *heart*
Wow. You made my day. Thank you.💚✌️
The Mamas participated this year too, and they ended up on 3rd place in the final last night.
Even though I love the winner, I'm sad for the Mamas that they got totally robbed of eurovision...
Rättvist sätt att säga det på
You have me very excited for 2021 with this information!💚✌️
Group 4 is sooooo strong. The Nordic countries rarely disappoint me though, so I'm not shocked. And that funny looking squiggly d in Icelandic is a th sound, if that helps with your pronunciation attempts. And the letter G in Icelandic is truly confusing, it behaves differently depending on where it lands in a word and what letters surround it. You could spend hours reading about it. Haha.
I apologize profusely for messing every possible word up that I can.💚✌️
@@JakesFaceReacts In my experience, Icelanders are super forgiving of you being completely baffled by their language. They are aware of how tricky it is. I once pronounced one small word of Icelandic correctly and the woman at the burger joint gave me a high five. Hahaha. If covid ever goes away, you really should visit Iceland. The people are amazing and you'll have the best time.
@@susannaviles it’s been on my list forever! It’s a shame that Reykjavik could have been hosting 2021 if not for Covid.
We miss you Mr. Jett
I need to slide into your DMs at some point, handsome. ;-) Keep up the good work!!!
Daði's wife (playing the "guitar") and sister (one of the backing singer) are also in the band Gagnamagnið. You are allowed to be 6 on stage in Eurovision so they can all stay :)
You’re totally right. I counted them when they were all in center stage, and there were 6.💚✌️
I've got just one wish. If it's okay with you, please add any comments during listening to the clip(of course providing that you have any in mind. It shouldn't be forced). Just say your thoughts out loud coz I think your sense of humor is original(in a positive way) and such spontaneous comments would be amazingly fun to watch. But I still really enjoy your videos by the way:)
Have you already heard Go_A Shum from Ukraine?
This dane would have picked Iceland too ;)
You should see their video - it is quite funny :)
Have you heard his version of Hatrið Mun Sigra? Haha.
But Denmark was so good, too!💚✌️
Roxen was my winner... Love this song
You really should react to Husavik by My Marianne (Molly Sandén) from the movie Eurovision ❤️

Finally someone who doesn't think that Romania is one of the favs! I love Iceland. Their song is about a newborn of the main singer and the girl with short, curly hair.
From this group I also like Sweden and Denmark but for me Dotter should have represented Sweden last year.
Are so many others nice song from eurovision, but from the past, try 2011,2010, 2009, 2008..... pls i want to see more video with you.
I highly reccomend listeting to Cherry Red by Roxen and a few songs from Sweden: Bulletproof, Kingdom Come, Ballerina, Brave
And i have to add im gonna miss Ben&Tan this year😓😭 love their song
Errata Corrige: And Hard Rock Halleluja! That also came to Italy!
Did you notice my reaction every time Romania said fake news?! I agree if 2020 would have been a normal year, Eurovision 2021 would be in Iceland.💚✌️
@@JakesFaceReacts Yes, I did! I mean, that phrase has been so overused that it is impossibile not to make the connection in our brains 😅
And, if we all think about things (icelandic pun kind of intended) in the same way... the world would be boring! 💪
No song that was intended for eESC 2020 and performed and released in time for 2020 will be able to quilify for esc2021....due to rules regarding on when the song was released/performed...so basicly all countries must send "new" songs for 2021
Привет, вы где? Почему нет реакций столько лет?
As a Swede I can tell you a bit of melodifestivalen. One of the mamas left the group after the entry in 2019 with John Lundvik. In 2021 they are competing in melodifestivalen.
Some people are saying they are not competing. I hope they are!💚✌️
@@JakesFaceReacts As a Swede I can confirm that they are competing in Melodifestivalen. Our National final. They are competing in semifinal 4. Song number 4 with a song called ”In The middle”
@@FilipGron YES!!!
@@JakesFaceReacts Also, let me know if there is anything else you wonder about our national finals in Sweden.
How many groups are there?
Another great video btw.
2 more to air...6 groups total💚✌️
Estonia and Romania entries were.... Well... Choices. 😂
Wait the Mamas are not competing in Melodifestivalen this year?
@@JakesFaceReacts They are. I missed them while scrolling through 4 shows of Melodifestivalen lists lol.
It’s late. I need to go to bed 🤣
Imagine calling romania a poorer country
Iceland and Sweden were so good. About the Iceland one, the singer sings about his daughter (baby) - that he can't wait to talk to her about things. And Sweden - The Mamas really remind me of the Muses from Disney Hercules xD
Also 21:00 - Nostradamus 2.0. :D
OMG, they are so the muses from Hercules!!! Haha. If they ever do Hercules as a musical, they should hire them.
Omg! YES! I was trying to figure out who they reminded me of, and you got it! the muses!💚✌️
@@susannaviles I would go to see it. First row hehe.
Also, can we imagine what it would sound (and look) like if we had a duet The Mamas feat. Destiny from Malta. Would be epic I think 😁
@@mahirchelsea237 OH. MY. GOSH. YES!!! That duet needs to happen. Their voices combined would be absolutely killer!
@@mahirchelsea237 That thought almost just made me spontaneously combust.
The Iceland face 😂✌
I love iceland, its a trully great song
The Mamas ❤️❤️❤️
@@JakesFaceReacts She is back this year. Her song will be revealed end of Feb.
@@Ewessa totally!
Uku will participate in the national final.
ROXEN will return.
Ben & Tan we don't know yet (new selection but we don't know if they will compete)
Daði & Gagnamagnið will return (my favorites)
The Mamas will participate in national Final.
Tonight its the final in swedish Melodifestivalen and it will also be the end of an era for Christer Björkman who has been the producer for 20 years. Just wanted to say congratulations to the US beacuse no he is moving to your country. So why and what is he going to do there? American Song contest.
Iceland DOUZE points from Denmark ❤️❤️❤️ Reykjavik should have been in 2021…… they participated this year in Liverpool funny as always……a huuuuuuuge hit here 🤗
Sweden excellent, 12 points
Roxen, Dadi are coming back
The Mamas and Uku are again in their national selection (so they can win again)
Ben&Tan are probably out 😢

2. Romania 5/5
3. Iceland 5/5

One Mama left to do other stuff but The Mamas compete again in this years Melodifestivalen so there’s always a chance that we can see them in this years Eurovision instead!
I figured one must have decided to not come back. I hope they return with an even better song in 2021. They deserve to go to Eurovision.💚✌️
@@JakesFaceReacts They said in an interview that they would´t want to comeback unless they had a good enough song but they are back so anything can happen
I believe the Romanian song was actually written by an American! I never really liked the Al-ca-hol-you-when-I'm-drunk twist.
