Have you been to the Isle of Harris? Is there anything we missed that you'd recommend for a future trip as I expect to go back again as I want to visit St. Kilda and it wasn't possible in 2020 when we were there.
Excellently done. Been addicted to videos about Harris, as I've fallen in love with it 😍, and your video is one of the best I've seen, loved your choice of music as well 👏
Hi Mark. Thank you for your really kind comments about the video. Still feel very new to UA-cam and vlogging so to hear my Harris video has been a favourite really means a lot! I have a few others from the Isle of Lewis if you're interested in that. I hope to make it back to Harris in the not too distant future as I very much want to visit St. Kilda and our trip was cancelled due to Covid last summer and I think on the next visit, I'd book somewhere on Harris instead of Lewis allowing me to explore in a bit more depth. I agree, it's a place that's so easy to fall in love with. Have you been able to visit?
When Adventure Knox ua-cam.com/video/FioLsYH3xWA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/fOl43xj8OAg/v-deo.html Got some others as well. I record wee tunes and have been putting them to video clips of when I've been to Lewis/Harris and Isle of Skye. If you go back to Lewis then check out Tolsta beach and Gary beach (just to the left of Tolsta beach). Been to Lewis and Harris a few times, loved it, just love it, but really want to see Luskentyre and the other beaches in glorious sunshine ☀️ as every time I've been it's been cloudy and windy. I always try to find out what times the tides are out as they are best seen then 👌. If you watch some of my videos then you will know why I appreciate what you've managed to capture 👏
Love seeing parts of Scotland I’ve never saw before lovely live in Canada 46 years been to many countrys scotland has awesome beaches my god if they had few months of hot hot weather on they beaches awesome
That was exactly my thoughts too about the beaches combined with better weather! Though I expect they'd be so busy, so maybe a blessing? Where abouts in Canada are you? I did a working holiday visa out there about 10 years ago - based myself in Toronto for much of the year and had the best 12 months ever!
Thanks for the excellent footage of my stunning homeland.I live in the central belt 20mins on the east coast from Edinburgh and Harris is one formy list for 2022.
Hi Elizabeth. So pleased you liked this. I'm always so nervous of showcasing a place and what locals will think if they see how I've depicted it, so knowing your Scottish and you enjoyed it has put a big smile on my face! Really hope you make it to Harris this year. Not sure if you've watched any of my other videos, but I sadly couldn't go to St. Kilda - but would recommend looking into it as it sounds fascinating. If you have any questions about my trip as you plan your own, please just ask away!
@@WhenAdventureKnox I love Glencoe its spectular and very iconic . I often walk through the main pass with my border collie quite often and when I do I can feel the hairs on the backofmy neck standing to attention.
Yeah, we'd heard there were some lovely beaches, but had no idea how many and how expansive they were. The food in Scotland was excellent, especially the street food scene. My taste buds did not disappoint after that trip!!
Love your videos, they are very nice, great drone shots and music. Eva zu Beck (UA-camr) was attacked by a cow on her channel. She stated more people are killed by cows🐄 than bears. 🐻Don't mess with cows and bulls. I really love the beaches in Scotland. ⛱You should do some surfing.🏄♂🏄♂ Cheers 🍸🍸🧔
Ooooh yes, I dip in and out of her videos and I remember that one as the thumbnail really made you want to click and find out what happened! I'd forgotten about the statistic, but its not surprising as I guess there's a lot more cows than bears, and people know to be cautious around bears - where as cows, I imagine people become complacent. I tried surfing many years ago in Manuel Antonio in Costa Rica and was terrible at it. No idea if it was a good place to try it as a beginner or not, but it certainly didn't make me want to try again 🤦♀️ Perhaps is there's somewhere better to learn I'll try again one day.
@@WhenAdventureKnox Several years ago a hiker was killed by a mountain goat here in the Olympic on an alpine trail. So be careful around any large animals
Oh my gosh, Sam's Seafood Shack is definitely going on our list, that looks right up our street 😋 And wow, beqches to die for. Thanks for a really well put together and informative video 😊👍🏼❤️
Yay, I'm so pleased I was able to do Sam's Seafood Shack justice as it was truly amazing. Just be prepared to wait a while in line, but I promise it's worth it! Thank you for sharing such lovely comments about how well put together and informative the video was too
Hi we’ve been enjoying your Scotland series. We’re off in August to do almost similar route, although sailing from Skye to Tarbet and then back to Ullapool from Stornaway. Some great tips for things to do and places to see. Thanks for sharing. We like you’re style 👍😃
Ah, you have no idea how much this message means to me - thank you for taking your time to write it! 🙌 I don't know if you're seen my 2 week itinerary video yet, but my one reflection on what I'd do differently was to take the ferry from Uig on Skye across to Tarbert in Harris and then from Stornoway to Ullapool. You guys are definitely onto something there! 👍 I'm so pleased you've enjoyed the videos, it means such a lot with such a new channel!
Hi Caroline. I just discovered your channel tonight as a suggestion from UA-cam. Have subscribed today and will continue to check out your outdoor/adventure videos ☺️
Hey guys, really helpful to hear UA-cam is putting my videos as as suggestions to others... your comment has made me smile a lot! Thank you for the subscription 🙌🙏 and I hope you enjoy the videos that are still to come!
I kid you not. This rivals australia's byron bay. If the travel ban isn't lifted, i will definitely be going here. England has nothing like this, say cornwall, but that is tiny in comparison! Is there many pubs here too?
I'm afraid pubs was one thing it was a bit sparse on. Stornoway in Lewis had a nice selection, but outside of there, a lot of the pubs/bars were in hotels/guesthouses etc. Never managed to make it to Australia so afraid I can't comment on the Byron Bay comparison, but the Isle of Harris really is a special place!
Ooooh good question - this is taking me back to my A Level Geography days. The sand comes about when the water erodes rocks or coral. I know on the Isle of Skye, the white sand Coral beaches has sand of that colour because it's the the maerl seaweed's skeleton that's broken down to create the sand, and thus being white. I can only assume it must be the same on the Outer Hebrides as the 2 aren't too far from one another. Otherwise I know Quartz can be another rock which when broken down into sand is white, but if I had to put money on it, I'd say it's maerl. As for the turquoise colour, this is a bit more out of my confidence of knowledge. I'd assumed the white sand underneath the sea waters is what helps it to look as turquoise as what it is. Blue and Green light wavelengths are hard for water to absorb, and if you have other life in the water such as algae, it can intensify the colour further. I'm afraid I'm neither a Physics teacher, nor Geography so I'd take what I've said with a pinch of salt, but I thought I'd share at least what I know!

18:58 what causes the sand to be white and the water turqoise like that in scotland ?
