Well America in general has more powerful cars than almost every other country because of looser emission standards and no displacement taxes, pretty much any 16 year old can get a used mustang here if they really want to. American cops wouldn't exactly be able to do their jobs or keep up with anyone if they were driving something like a shitty base trim sonata

My friend and I both drove previously unmarked police interceptors just out of high school. Imagine how people reacted to not one but TWO of these vehicles running in tandem. I remember the speed we drove was the speed at which traffic moved. I don’t recall ever being passed. Driving slow past house parties from neighboring high schools was always pretty funny. Made for some fantastic Friday night fun that summer after high school. We had fun with it but never did anything too out of line or cause trouble.
Got a black and white one with push bars and one spot light, either came from a small department or federal agency as it was in damn near new condition. All of the state troopers to and from work have the same car and push bars. I no longer get cut off in traffic and everyone is polite around me. Left lane losers get out of the passing lane and free up the lane. I now get to and from work 10-15 minutes earlier stress free lol.

Most of the time that tray holds radio equipment. Sometimes there are multiple radios depending on the jurisdiction that vehicle is used in, and a control head at the front. Being it a State police, officers need to communicate with their department, local Sheriff and local police. In some areas more than 1 county or city. Most of their radios are *high power* radios and when Mic button is pressed it gets very *hot* very quick. 2. Certified speedometer is because of different wheel diameter installed and that has to be re-calibrated and certified unlike basic Taurus is already calibrated from the factory.
At a police open house i could of walked away with a box of federal tactical 12 gauge 00 buck and a box of slugs. They were in the door pocket with kids climbing in and out all day.
LOF stands for Lube ,Oil ,Filter in mechanic jargon. That upper tray in the trunk was for the computer AND the camera recording equipment they have on most LEO cars now. The lock box in the trunk was for your carry weapon(s) to be secured in the vehicle.

Before I retired, my department had one unmarked Chrysler mini-van, I called it the soccer mom van. I loved driving that for non-patrol related details. It didn't stick out like a police car, no one paid me the slightest bit of notice, drivers would blow by me all day long. I wasn't looking for bad guys, I could just cruise peacefully along in my own quiet little world. I think I could actually feel my blood pressure drop back to normal.
I have never been law enforcement but I buy their old cars even though they are retired police interceptors I feel I have to be proper and respectful while operating the car the car deserves my respect
They keep the original seats in storage and install the plastic seats with the cage. Once the vehicle is decommissioned the take out the cage and plastic seats and reinstall the original seats which is why they still look so nice. I know this because i outfit police cars, fire trucks, ambulances and other types of paramilitary style vehicles.
you can enable the factory keyless entry - google for it. you'll have to buy a hood sensor, and the remote fobs/keys - this also enables factory remote start. the door straps are to prevent the door from swinging open too wide. you can unhook them if you want the door to swing open wider. the tray in the back is for the radio/computer/camera recorder. your car also has a pursuit mode - accelerate hard or slam on the brakes really hard and your engine will stay revving around 2k RPM to keep the engine up in the power curve. google how to enable your rear door handles and to connect your rear door locks and window. you can buy any taurus console and fill in that empty space in the middle. and yes, you can't go anywhere fast on the hwy or city with it because everyone slows down, lol
There's another little cheat on these...... cars if you push the low range button on the end of the shifter..... it drives just like pursuit mode. Shifts at higher rpm while accelerating and rev matches the down shifts higher rpm during deceleration as smooth as silk. I have a 2015 Eco boost interceptor.....fast and fun even when not floored. Basically a Heavy Duty SHO.
That tray in the trunk is for car radio stuff. That x brace is a safety enforcement incase some one rear ends the car while it is stopped. Think it was up to 70-75mph impact. In conjunction with the spare tire in the trunk too.
actually, the tray was for the AR or SG storage. The wires that you see connect to the self locking mechanism that can be unlock by a push bottom. Taurus are small and there is no room in the cabin especially with a built in cage. I drove a Taurus for several years while on duty.
@@johnng4139 I'm pretty sure the tray is for the electric components like the light bar and lights a long with any extra electric load that it has. That's why there's a fan there. Also the wires, I know from personal experience from riding in the back all the time.
What you did not mention was the sore back that you inherit if you have to spend more than a couple of hours in one of those cans. The Crown Victoria was the last real police car. Most police departments are moving to trucks and larger SUV's. I can't handle more than half a shift in one of those things. They are fast, they handle well, but they are too small and too cramped to be a good cruiser.
I did not have an issue driving in one for months. I have Taurus SHO myself as daily driver, about same seats and I feel pretty comfy in it, no complaints.
Kelly Breen Why don’t they remove all the police accessories before sale, thus preventing anyone from driving a fake police car. In the US you see so many wannabe police officers getting caught out all the time. UK
I also have a 2015 police interceptor. Mine has a key fob and the radio has blue tooth and an USB and line in connections. In the trunk mine also has a 150 amp fuse panel. I love it the acceleration is awesome. I bought mine from Chicago Motors, Inc.
I have been driving these vehicles for years. Ford was my client and I would get the fleet demo versions with about 1000 miles on them. Right now I have a 2016 Taurus Police Special and a 2020 Police Responder Hybrid, both from new. The tray in the trunk held the 'chip' that was the control head for the electronics, lights, sirens, etc. The fan in the trunk is to maintain the temperature in the trunk for the electronics. The power cables run under that centre plate in the cabin to under the hood for power. The police consoles from the Crown Victorias will fit in this car. they are very functional and can be set up in different ways that will work for you. The exhaust is after market and probably by the police department because they didn't want to put the money into a full replacement. Since they would be selling it off before it would any further issues they wouldn't see a problem. Due to the amount that police idle these vehicles they were burning out the catalytic converters. They are built to run with the converter. There is a lot more to these cars than you may realize if you haven't owned one before. Enjoy the car, they are a lot of fun.

I showed this to my son and he mentioned the TiVCT you pointed out meaning turbo (on the A/C label) doesn't mean turbo. The TiVCT is apparently a variable valve timing tech Ford has with a phaser to adjust the timing on both the intake and exhaust camshafts independently. TiVCT stands for Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing. Apparently, the GTDI is the one referencing the turbo, standing for gasoline turbo direct injection.
Great video. Very informative. One thing I do want to mention regarding the front doors; the ballistic panels are optional and the vehicles that are equiped with them have a small badge on the interior door panel that reads "Ballistic Panel". I love these cars and I have one of my own as well- a 2014. Cheers!
My door on the 2013 did not have a badge on the door saying Ballistic Panels but the doors seem really heavy and have straps on them to prevent breaking the hinges.
Hey man. How is your 2014 doin in terms of reliability. I'm thinking about buying one rn, and its got like 100,000 miles on it for close to 8 Grand. is it a good buy and if so is there anything about the cars themselves I should know?
We used to buy old rcmp cruisers. They actually switched out the carbs and detuned them. We did get the 75 gsllon fuel tanks, the solid drive shafts, the duo alternators and battery in trunk. They would spray can the white doors, shitty job. Fixed right they made great FAST cars.
@@psycosoft1 Well, if you must know....I've owned many ex police cars dating back to 1995, so do I know for a fact they didn't detune carbs back in the day? I suppose not. However, I've been asked many questions about my cars, from "did they change the camshaft?" and "did they change the computer before you got it?", etc, all of which are absolute BS. So, fountain of nothing? Hardly; but believe what you wish.
On the certified calibration. Normal vehicles are permitted 10% variance provided that it reads up. Meaning if you are doing 50mph it can read as 55mph but not 45mph. So you can be driving slower than your speedometer indicates but not faster. The police vehicles are supposed to be spot on.
@jago668 - Your statement that normal vehicles have a 10% variance (reading up) fits with my personal observations in the last 10 to 15 years. I travel often and quite often and always bring my own GPS to get help me to get to where I need. Whether it be hire cars, friends or family vehicles, the GPS always shows a slower speed than the speedometer in the vehicle - especially on motorways / freeways where you set the cruise control and have a good amount of distance at a constant speed to use as a source of data.
Great car and channel Pete, im looking at one tomorrow morning a recent retired 2015, from Maine State Police. Thank you for this video. My wife drives a 2013 taurus civilian SES AWD. I buy these police interceptor because even at 120k miles, I can put another 150k miles of Maine driving. I'm a process server and private investigator which means I drive a lot. While not a good surveillance vehicle, its top notch. My 2010 Crown Vic was totalled last winter.
Robert: I purchased a 2014 Taurus P. I. from a Michigan State Police auction a couple of monthgs ago. I am in the process of replacing the interior panels, which had drill holes in them, and I am installing a civilian center console from a Taurus SEL. If you are in the market for a 2013-2019 Taurus P.I., make sure that the water pump has been replaced, as there is a design defect on Ford's 3.5 and 3.7 liter engines which result in water pump failure and ultimately engine damage.
As an old geezer who's spent a lot of time looking out for speed traps, I would have a blast driving this "unmarked" car. I'm surprised the seller didn't remove the push bumper and the strobe system.
Actually all cars they sell come with this same package, all of the state police cars I get setup just like this one, lights, push bar, ar15 in the trunk and some some under the back seat, LOL
@@cuteface88 I hadn't seen many old police cars in civilian use of late. Many of the Crown Vics were sold for use with the cage for use as taxi cabs, but usually they took the spot lights off the car the strobes in the grille were gone etc, the push bar is usually left on the car. The spot lights may be a state by state law. I've heard that NJ for instance, if the spotlight was on the car to pass state inspection the wire had to be cut and visibly cut to pass at that, now alot of states are just worried about emissions and that's all, so that maybe out of the window now. I know that sometimes the owner operators have 1 or 2 spotlights on the tractor which is a benefit if your lost or looking for a street at night or happen upon an accident etc.
Back in the 70's & 80's my grandmother use to pick up old county vehicles from auction, funny she was the only one to show up & get them at a steal😏 To many to name but they were all amazing. Even the 1924 fire truck she got for $15😂
I like that a lot of the comments say he's trying to look like a cop. If you want that, all you have to do is buy a four-year-old charger and keep it stock. At least around Portland Oregon here, a ton of cop cars are literally just unmarked chargers with regular plates. I assume any of them are on the road.
the slide out tray is where the radio and the emergency light and video equipment is placed. Yes that is a cooling fan for the police equipment that is in the tray. The fan vents the heat into the back seat (crazy huh). The backseat is comfortable because the barrier has been removed that is between the front seat and the back. The big plus about owning a former police car is that you get a strong engine and transmission, drive train, electrical system, plus pursuit tires.
Try again, The harness in the Tray is for a Whelen CenCom Carbide system. Whoever decommissioned this car did a crap job. Most states it's illegal to own equipment for law enforcement use.
So the tray can be used for anything. More than likely it did have something to do with the lights. The wiring was probably ran to the tray and hooked up or for video equipment. Source: I’m a cop and drove a Taurus at one time.
Been buying old cops car for 35 years nothing new. Most of the cops cars are run into the ground. Best thing to buy is what I call staff or pool cars. They have police packages but are not used on the streets.
Interesting. Is there anyway to tell the difference? I think the bigger issue rather than being run into the ground is that you can easily double or more their mileage from idle hours and I'm pretty damn sure idling is not good for any car all the time.
I just bought one this past weekend a 2014 with 44,000 miles on it, the only thing that was left on mine was a driver side led spot light, love the car so far and its fast as hell too, lol

My understanding is that "Certified Calibrated" means that from factory that the Ford Speedometer is calibrated to a certified standard for speed and timing (meaning the DOT might say 97% accuracy is the acceptable personal vehicle inspection standard, however for speed enforcement the tolerance is lets say 99%). I believe it also means that the speed is certified to 1mph increments. So while pacing, the distance between 34 to 35 miles per hour would be the same as 54 to 55 mph. Some speedometers could lose accuracy in certain speed ranges. I you were to have an inaccuracy at low speed, this could be multiplied as you reach higher speeds. While on patrol an officer can pace a vehicle, following said vehicle for a set distance and matching the speedometer to that of the vehicle being followed. Doing this, they can identify how fast the lead vehicle is going and testify that the vehicle is speeding. In most states, the "Certified Calibrated" is nothing more than fancy verbiage. A special technician will come in periodically and make sure that the all speed and timing equipment is still maintaining accuracy per the set standard (may vary by state). This is important for traffic enforcement as attorneys will fight the accuracy of the timing device as well as the training of the officer. I don't know if the certified designation means that the speedometer software is open from the factory so that the technician can make changes without using the Ford Scan Tool? Outside of that, it doesn't mean that your other vehicle is any less accurate. It just means that when that Police Interceptor was built and had all of the upgrades added by Ford, that the speedometer was tested and accurate with the big brakes, cross brace, extra racks, miles of wiring, and additional lighting.
I think you're right. Also, regular passenger vehicles are calibrated (even with a wider margin it's still calibrated) to display a slightly higher speed than actual (GPS) speed, so that you're always on the safe side with regard to speed limits. Usually this difference increases at higher speeds, so it may display 32 mph when travelling 30 and 79 when doing 75. Law enforcement on the other hand should of course know the exact speed.

Some stuff I'd like to mention, since having owned a retired Charger, that calibrated speedo doesn't mean that all other speedos aren't calibrated. It's a legal thing for cops to use that speedo as a means to write a ticket. All civilian cars are calibrated to similar specifications as the police ones. It's just for when you take a speeding ticket to court, the cop can have the backing of a 'calibrated instrument'. They're supposed to re-certify the speedos every other year, but nobody does. Those asking if the lights work, yeah if you've got the control head for them. You can keep them on the car, but it's a felony to use them on the road. You also cannot add/re-add the lights if you remove them. But the doors being armored up is new to me, same with the rear structure reinforcement, that's actually really cool but looks like a nightmare if you've gotta do work on the car. My dodge had heavy reinforcing crossmembers in the doors, which was really nice cause side impacts are kinda scary. As for the gas mileage, I run 93 in my SHO, and get 14mpg lmao. Which is crazy, since going from a Charger, I'd thought I'd get the same or better gas mileage but hell no lmao. But seeing you got 19mpg, you have the 3.7NA, and not the 3.5 Ecoboost. The Ecoboost fuckin' drinks gas. The 3.7 is a great engine, my dad has one in his exploder (Just do the timing belt & water pump, those fail ~120k miles, and with them goes the rest of the engine). Anyway all said and done, I had my fun with old cop cars, but I'm gonna stick with civilian cars. More comfortable, and less problems. That and I really enjoy my civilian SHO, I just really, really miss the RWD of the Charger, that was super fun.
Just FYI - I have 2013 Explorer Interceptor - and I get like 9mpg on E85 flex fuel. When you run regular gas - its more expensive - but better mpg as well. The 11mpg was from running E85 FLEXFUEL. I also have 3.7L. I was hoping yours is 3.5L EcoBEAST. You're transmission has a "Pursuit" Mode - when you hit the brakes really hard - your shifts will become aggressive (high rpm) - try it out.

5:04 The X-brace under the back seat and in the trunk actually IS factory-installed and is what gives the PIs the 75-mph rear collision rating. Regular Taurus sedans (and Explorers) don’t have that but all Ford Police Interceptors do have it from the factory. Also, the tray in the trunk was for remote-mounted radios. Nice find though!
A fun little thing about the crown Vic interceptors is they actually have a 90MPH rating for front AND back collisions (at least from my local department) though they don’t have all this fancy stuff this fella has! Beautiful car though! (Also let’s be honest, if you have a cop car you’ve accidentally locked yourself in the back at least once.)

The tray is for all the communication modems. Your dispatch, your light control panels etc. the fan is to cool down the computers. Your missing your compartment tray to separate the tire and the side box is for your fire extinguisher or other equipment.
Regarding speedometer: Your speedometer shows the right values. Legal regulations says that a speedometer must never show a lower value than actual speed.
This vehicle has different size wheels(not standard) and because of that speedometer would show incorrect speed. It needs to be recalibrated to show correct speed. Plus with the bigger diameter tires, it does show lower than actual speed.
@@larsev I do not see a reason to continue this conversation because this comment started without good ground bases because all he mentioned is about his speedometer being certified. At this point if the wheels on this vehicle are the same size that went through certification his speedometer shows correct speed even if these wheels are in a different size from regular Ford Taurus that the factory puts on with pre-calibrated speedometer. So to sum it up, his speedometer shows correct speed even with bigger wheels than a regular Taurus and his vehicle is homologated.
Well done for making people drive safely, your hobby is surprisingly saving lives. And good luck on your centre console hunt, hope you get the right colour. I had a UK ford cortina L model and hunted the breakers yards looking for the GL centre arm rest 😀
That tray in trunk is where all the radio equipment, video recorder, light controller box, etc. went. I doubt the lights work. Those light lights except the ones in trunk come from Ford that way. The tray would have been for the guts of the 2 way radio and more modernly a mobile modem and other computer equipment. Your trunk is likely equipped to keep cool on hot days too. Tighten up that light and make them all operational again. But DO NOT activate them unless you're on private property. If you operate them on public roads and highways, and a cop sees you, they will arrest you and charge you with impersonating a police officer. That would be very bad. Keep the push bar too. That will offer extra protection in a crash and help you help others by pushing them to a fueling station. I have done that before.

If you had an earlier model, Livernois has some pretty sick tunes that put it in the 500hp range by turning up the turbos. They were actually faster than the stock mustangs after tuning.
Retired police cars are heaven in America. Here in Poland retired cop cars are torn down Kia's with cheapest trims and crappy engines.
Well America in general has more powerful cars than almost every other country because of looser emission standards and no displacement taxes, pretty much any 16 year old can get a used mustang here if they really want to.

2. Certified speedometer is because of different wheel diameter installed and that has to be re-calibrated and certified unlike basic Taurus is already calibrated from the factory.

you can enable the factory keyless entry - google for it. you'll have to buy a hood sensor, and the remote fobs/keys - this also enables factory remote start. the door straps are to prevent the door from swinging open too wide. you can unhook them if you want the door to swing open wider. the tray in the back is for the radio/computer/camera recorder. your car also has a pursuit mode - accelerate hard or slam on the brakes really hard and your engine will stay revving around 2k RPM to keep the engine up in the power curve. google how to enable your rear door handles and to connect your rear door locks and window. you can buy any taurus console and fill in that empty space in the middle. and yes, you can't go anywhere fast on the hwy or city with it because everyone slows down, lol

I know that sometimes the owner operators have 1 or 2 spotlights on the tractor which is a benefit if your lost or looking for a street at night or happen upon an accident etc.

the slide out tray is where the radio and the emergency light and video equipment is placed.
The tray is for hard drives and recording equipment for the dashcams and radar equipment

@@sanderrambelje yup, I always check my car speedometer accuracy with GPS. My car shows +1 mph at 30 and +2 mph at 60.

I like my crown vic its not as fast its solid tough and simple to work on.
Or the best temporary center console (or perminent) for the tauruses and the Crown Vic's is the one you can buy at Walmart for like 26 bucks. It fits good, it looks good, and it matches the colors of the inside of the car pretty well.
Why would you get rid of the column shifter? That's the best part. You can't get Tauruses with that lead alone any modern car
Nice car Pete, thanks for posting the video.
Good luck with your 'interceptor'.
Whelen ions for anyone wondering about the lights
I work for a sheriff office (IT) the tray you saw in the back is for the in car camera computer/hard drive box so you were spot on!
dump the damn music
I just sold my 2013 Police Interceptor Ford Taurus. I put it on the lawn and it sold in less then 3 hours. I had more fun with this car then any other car I have owned. They are such nice cars and they feel like a machine when you drive them....Smooth, Fast, and just fun to drive. I will never be able to fun one as nice as the one I sold. My car was from North Carolina and belonged to one person who took it home every night. The only thing that was taken out of my car was the Two way Radio. It had everything else. When I came home from work at night, I would pull into my drive way and turn on the blue lights....! That car was like a christmas tree....I had the car for over one year and never got stopped. I would drive by a cop and he would wave to me. Everyone thought that was a patrol car under cover. When I got on hwy 85 in the morning.....NO ONE would pass that car...everyone stayed behind me. I will sure miss that car....my car had 107K miles on it and drove like a new car.
Why did you sell it if it was so nice?
@@Long-nd8bq I have Jeeps, Corvettes, Pickups and Motorcycles. I got the car as a toy to play with. I had it for a year and decided that I did not want to have so many cars on my driveway. It's a lot of work to keep all the cars clean and maintained. I will get something else now. It changed the way I drive. I always watched my speed and I felt like a Roll Model when using the car. I did not want that feeling no more, And also I was thinking with everything going on in the world today...I was a afraid someone would damage it thinking I was a police officer.
@@alsautner1732 you should look for a sho model if you like it. The car is discontinued now so the value might rocket
Under the hood it says "LOF". That stands for Lube,Oil,Filter. That does not stand for liquid freon. 👍
In Singapore where I am, after doing the conversions, 1 US Gal = 3.785L that will cost S$7.70 or US$4.94 on regular 95 octane petrol! 95 octane is priced at S$2.04/L and 98 octane at S$2.43/L be glad you’re paying only US$3/S$4.25 per gallon. Come to Singapore and it’s US$5.44/S$7.70 per gallon.
Wow I learned something didn’t know my car was bulletproof. Thanks and I’m looking to convert the console.
Not all of them are bulletproof and I'm sure a lot of departments take that out before they put it in an auction. Don't rely on it if it comes down to it.
Great overview of your new-to-you car. Very good description of how this car is equipped. I hope you enjoy working on the changes you plan to make.
The perfect car for any drug dealer who’s worried about getting shot. I’m guessing that even though they’re regularly used at high speed that they’re well maintained and sup’d up. London, uk
The Trooper cars are the best ones to buy because they are mostly all highway miles on them. Plus they are very well maintained..
The po's didn't do a good detail on this car at the auction because it's still to hot too be driving.
I'm surprised u didn't get questioning about a pov.
The tray in the trunk was where the lights and siren central computer unit would be mounted. Did emergency vehicle upfitting for a while.
@@AlastoriaHall The crown vics never had a 90 MPH rating. No car has that. That is WAY too much energy. That is why the 75 MPH rating was groundbreaking.
@@baddriversofthenorcalarea500 well hate to burst your bubble but mine does in fact have 90 MPH impact bumpers for front and rear and I have the paperwork to prove it. I also have two car crash survivors who can also attest theirs had 90 MPH impact bumpers that saved their lives in high speed collisions! Perhaps its just a FL patrol car thing.
@@AlastoriaHall There is a difference between surviving a 90 MPH crash and being rated as safe in one. I would be interested in that paperwork, as I cannot find anything related to that online. The crown vics actually had a flaw when being rear ended.
The Lock-Box is for your gun when you cannot take it inside a place like the courtroom. Also L.O.F. means Lube Oil Filter. thank you my Son purchase one today.
Next time use "GOOF OFF" to take off adhesive residue....works faster than "Goo Gone"....ive used both.
Absolutely agree. By far.
I just bought an Impala 9c1 a few months ago and I’m already jealous of this guys car lol
I can get a 2015 with 200k miles for $3500 that needs a steering rack, is that a good deal still?
I see re-manned steering racks for $700, does the Interceptor use just a stock Taurus steering rack?
I don't know much but I'm also interested, from what many say, the idle hours mean a lot.
Im in Cali and work for Dodge and we get CHP Chargers in all the time and when brakes get down to around 50% they change them. Trans every 30k. Oil change every 5k I think it is. Brake flushes ext they do it all. An ex cop car is actually really nice to have because they take care of the vehicles.
Some departments do, not all
Try to find the ones not used for regular patrol cars, like detectives to water department.. looks ok, but I seriously miss the crown vics... I could put all my guitars and amps in it😁..
The bubble body mid 90s 9C1 caprice is one of the best of all time imo.
The tray is for all the communication modems. Your dispatch, your light control panels etc. the fan is to cool down the computers. Your missing your compartment tray to separate the tire and the side box is for your fire extinguisher or other equipment.
I drive the same car for a year it’s pretty reliable but the headlights and turning signals would always go out.
@@bara2ban If that is the case, you are driving with a wheel combination that is NOT permitted by regulation (homologation)
Is there something built like a Ford Corrina available in the US just wondering what's available in North America
@@jrsmith1008 I don't know if it's available in USA but eBay might find you the ford cortina parts
Hard drives for the dash cams probably sat on the truck tray
Hard drives, siren amp, power distribution for the lights
That tray in trunk is where all the radio equipment, video recorder, light controller box, etc. went. I doubt the lights work. Those light lights except the ones in trunk come from Ford that way. I use to install the equipment in PA State Police vehicles. The doors have plates in them layered for bullet proof and they are heavy. LOF under hood indicated lube, oil, filter service.
I have one in live in the hood but every-time i come home from working many corner dwellers who stand in corners in groups, run for their lives as if a demon is falling from the sky, why is this?
Stop trying to race bait …
I'd love to drive this on the highway.
I worked as a civilian at a PD. I would never buy an old police car. If you seen the people who as been in the car, especially the back seats, and what they would desperately do when in cuffs. Not to mention no cop is babying these cars when they use it.
My first car was an ex police car, loved every second. No complaints.
Ive had 2 ex cop valiany v8sno power steering heavy as fuck to park but drove ok once got pulled over by the very same cop who broke her in he remembered the plate numbasad ehnumber was smo 359
I had a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria-a former police car-and it was a great vehicle. I still regret selling it!
Replace the back seats it's not hard
The tray would have been for the guts of the 2 way radio and more modernly a mobile modem and other computer equipment. Your trunk is likely equipped to keep cool on hot days too. Tighten up that light and make them all operational again. But DO NOT activate them unless you're on private property. If you operate them on public roads and highways, and a cop sees you, they will arrest you and charge you with impersonating a police officer. That would be very bad.
Keep the push bar too. That will offer extra protection in a crash and help you help others by pushing them to a fueling station. I have done that before.
the tray in the trunk was the LED Controllers and Radio(s) Controllers
Also, when you were pointing to the engine bay at the R134, that is AC Freon, not Coolant.
Police package got the 3.7L, like the later model lincoln, instead of the 3.5L. Earlier models had the twin turbo 3.5L like the SHO. If you had an earlier model, Livernois has some pretty sick tunes that put it in the 500hp range by turning up the turbos. They were actually faster than the stock mustangs after tuning.
