It had to have perfect, or at least a memorable, delivery. Jacob is cute. Jacob is a good actor, but. . .I think Sam pushed him here with his "I HEARD YOUR HEARTS DANCING" delivery that it sparked Jacob to add more gusto to his own 😊.

Honestly Sam and Jacobs acting in this scene is amazing. Especially Sam's on the piano and singing larger than life and the body twirl with Louis, agh just all of it. Incredible.

Couldn't agree more! The gusto with which he sings while his face screams disdain for the soldiers around him and the faux-camaraderie of the bayonets line that underscores it, were perfectly delivered by Sam - while Louis grabbing him by the waist and confronting Lestat with his jealousy (I love his 'creeper' line delivery as much as Sam's 'hearts dancing') was wonderful too! Love all of their acting choices throughout this show!🤩

I think people are missing the point on why Lestat was mad. It comes when he says, "I watched you pull over and drain a dog and chase rats". He is mad because the act between Louis and the guy meant something! Louis is making it seem like it was meaningless, and it wasn't which is why Lestat is screaming! It's a "Don't you dare lie to me" moment. He heard their hearts dancing. And after, Louis chose to feed on animals instead of the guy! Meaning he cared for him, otherwise he would have fed on him. That is what Lestat is saying in those words. I totally understand him. I said an open relationship I didn't say fall in love with someone else!

@@alishab88 I think he would be. I think Louis should have taken that moment and ran with it! If it were me, when I saw the jealousy in him I would have cranked it up! Been with the guy every night, of course making sure I came back home to Lestat, but just been out there living freely and enjoying the company of the guy without Lestat! I mean since I am not enough for you, lets see if I am enough for him. So far...I am more than a "mouthful"!

Also notice when Lou asked him if he had anything to do with his brother walking off the roof he looked him straight in the face and said no. He only looks down or away when he lies. Like when Claudia throws Lestat under the bus about his affair, Lestat says he'll get rid of her soon but looks away or looks down when he talks about her. Interesting, tiny detail Sam chose to go with.

It's a really interesting addition that Lestat's pupils widen when he gets angry, anxious, aroused, etc. Whenever he experiences strong emotions. Human pupils also widen according to great emotions! :)
I also observed that when he was beating up Louis and was angry.
Dude, I went from laughing like hell at "More wine and a German on their bay-o-NEEEET!" to Oh my damn at "I heard your hearts dancing." Mkay, I think I might actually have to watch the series now.
Watch it but be prepared for it to ruin your life. These two are ELECTRIFYING together and I'm not exaggerating. Their sexual chemistry is some of the best I've seen between any two people regardless of gender.
@nickimillennium3748 From the couple of clips I've seen, it does look like they have some rediculously hardcore chemistry. It's been a minute since I've read anything by Anne Rice, but I do remember she didn't shrink from different types of sexuality and brutal emotions. No blame but an observation… Lestat has lived an immortal life for hundreds of years compared to Louis, yeah? He has had time to mourn the loss of his familial ties? He has battled loneliness due to longevity but won (in his mind) when he found Louis. And the reason for not wanting to share Louis, the man he loves, so readily with others.
Louis becomes an immortal while under duress: due to his place in the world, grieving the loss of his brother Paul and Ms Lily. Saddened/depressed his mother blames him for his brother’s death. Having to witness his family die (mother) and eventually break from him ( sister and her family). Which is why I believe he doesn’t take to killing in a city where he lives among family ties whose humanness is the life line for him.
Obviously, a lot is going on with the relationship but I rather not indulge in any particulars at the moment.

Probably but he doesn't say. Interestingly, we don't see much of Louis' reaction to Lestat's mind control, just a brief glimpse of his face where he looks stunned but then quickly delves into an argument. Louis really does have housewife tendencies where he seems to brush over a lot of things

I was on Twitter and someone made a good point about this scene. What Lestat heard was their heart beats speed up because they were aroused. The same thing that happens to his heart with Antionette. He was just jealous that Louis hooked up with someone else. And tired to use the excuse that he sensed some great love between them so he could act out. He would have been pissed no matter who Louis hooked up with it could have been a stranger.
And it’s really funny because he brought this on himself. Not only with they I need variety thing. But parading Antionette around in front of Louis at the club. Because I really don’t think Louis was even thinking about hooking up with a Jonah until he looked up and Lestat was being an asshole lol.

@@andreabrantley6951 well it sorta was, because we know that part of whats straining their relationship is that lestat had disconnected from humanity so much that he cant relate/understand/support louis' struggles related to human racism. But Jona is clearly far more grounded, and theres a level of solidarity between them that Louis cant find with a white guy, especially a white dude who has disconnected himself from all things human for several centuries.
Yup which is why Armand and Louis in s2 is gonna be much more of a betrayal for Lestat.
@@yoongitrash2699 I really love this concept of Lestat being disconnected from humanity and unable to relate to racism because he’s a vampire who’s several centuries old and not because of the chance that he could be racist himself but because he’s otherworldly. Such a cool concept. If I’m being honest I wouldn’t care about human affairs in any matter if I was a Vampire, I’m immortal I’ll see how they play out.
@@lordthetir yeah exactly! i know a lot of people hear that the show adressed the reality of bigotry and stuff in that era and immediately complained about "wokeness", which i think is a shame because i feel like it used racial history and politics of the time really intelligently. Im normally not a huge fan of "slavery/racism literature" because it kinda feels like grotesque trauma porn, but i really like what they did with the time period in this show.

It’s weird. I just noticed that in episode one in the church when Lestat is asking Louis to join him in immortality, his eyes are super bloodshot (like broken blood vessels) and they are the same way after telling the soldiers to go with his mind. I wonder if Lestat’s eyes were like that in episode 1 because he kept trying to compel Louis to visit him or that Lestat was compelling him to give himself over and become a vampire?
Maybe it's just coincidence that his eyes appeared to look that way in that scene?? But idk, i never really thought about this before

He pulled out all the tricks in his vampire bag to get Louis!., First he stalked him, then he went to all Louis regular hang-outs. and when ever he was around him he was seducing him, doing vampire telepathy, love bombing, and more. He tricked him into a 3-Some with Ms. Lily,(Lestat killed her.) But Louis said he didn't plan on going back there, he just counted that as a one-night-stand, But Lestat wouldn't leave him be... He was playing mind control games, then busted in the church! smh. It was under duress!

The guy Louis got intimate with in another scene was a soldier also.
That was a slick reference to the fact that Louis had hooked up with an old childhood friend who was also a soldier. At the time though, Lestat wasn't supposed to know that Louis HAD hooked up with someone. Basically Lestat showed his hand with this little show.

In all fairness louis was given a choice to become a vampire. How can he say that lestat took it if he gave it willingly?
Well he wanted to die, he was grieving the loss of his brother, and his mother was blaming him. He was under extreme emotional distress, so he really wasn’t is right mind to make that decision

No not really. Louis hooks up with a young man who he has history with. He is in the army and is going to be shipped out in a couple of days he is black but wanted to see Louis before leaving. Lestat is jealous and follows them and watches louis and Jonah have a some private time together. Later Lestat brings home all these army guys thinking that this is louis type but they are all white which I thought was odd. But I believe he was just upset about Louis being with someone else.

It's not. Lestat is an extremely powerful vampire; he drank the blood of ancient, powerful vampires prior to arriving to NOLA. He hides his powers as to not scare Louis off or intimidate him. As the season progresses, he's no longer able to hide them and eventually reveals his flying ability when he loses his temper in episode 5.
