She can't even look at him most of the time, while Trevor my man is just staring at her really to shut down whatever nonsense she's trying to bring up. One of the worst "journalist" I've ever seen. She is struggling just saying what's written on her freaking card.
She was literally just offended by the joke, most poc will refer to their color as a milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel, moca.... I've heard these all and this is the only person I ever see be offended about it.
I saw the original interview. As a journalist ... I can say she's incompetent. Hard hitting questions doesn't mean sticking to your agenda but listening to the person's response and asking the hard follow up. That's the key. Allow the person to speak to address the question, then ask the direct follow up. She's horrible and Trevor handled that like a champ.
She basically just harassed him hoping he would fold and succumb to her pressure. She is like my mother in an argument, just wanting to be right for the sake of their own pride.🙄🙄🙄🙄😒
She didn’t seem to want to actually interview him. She wanted to belittle and chastise him. He was brilliant, patient and a complete gentlemen while holding his own. More respect was given to her than she deserved.
Yeah, kind of like watching them interview anyone in America who is not a radical leftist like Trump, Bongiono, or even the way they lie on all these kids like Rittenhouse or the kid who sued CNN for millions..
Mad respect to Trevor Noah for this. He spoke so clearly and calmly while also getting his point across with metaphors and literal descriptions. Can’t praise his intellect and demeanor here enough.
I see why it’s called “hard talk”, it’s hard for anyone to talk without getting interrupted. It’s hard to say what you want to say without her spinning her own narrative to her questions. It’s hard to talk.
Him: "Context is everything." Her: "Granted, but your context isn't the same as their context, and their context is due to their historical context, and another woman from a different context doesn't share their context, so isn't your context out of context?" Him: "Are you dumb stupid ignorant? Not only are ignoring what you just agreed to, you are also contradicting yourself." When so-called "intellectuals" don't even use the brains God gave them, it makes me want to smack them in the face with a trout.
She literally won’t shut up and let him answer the questions. She is working backward from her already decided conclusion, and just keeps hammering on while he gives solid answers.
Why have I never heard the term "Working backwards from her already decided conclusion" that is an absolutely perfect way to put it. I am never going to not use that term again. 100% agree
Trevor even looked amused at some stage. And you know what, Trevor is amazing. Also surprised, as South African, that he didn't burst out laughing. He handled it like a pro. So proud of him and everything he does and stands for.
After Trevor realized that he was dealing with a narcissist with a "victim" mindset, he basically became very philosophical and began to school her like he was talking to an angry 3yr old.
She was doing him the way he does everyone else... it's funny see a bunch of leftists stand up like this for someone who literally does the same thing to other people.
@@chuckdeuces911 Ah yes, "He does it to others, so it's only right to do it to him!" What are you, 12? Also, who does he do it to? Last I checked Trevor is a *Comedian* that comments on the news not an *Interviewer/news anchor*
@Adi Yogi Trevor Noah is an equal opportunity roaster. He talks about everything and everyone in the news and in his life. What does leftist have to do with anything?
He was upset because that’s the role he wants to Play!! This is the same guy who is pushing for censorship, rallying behind YT removing the dislike button because it’s “mean” and who calls anyone he disagrees with “far right” 🙄
I'm impressed at Trevor Noah's skill at creatively answering her questions. Not many would have come up with using a song lyric like that on the spot to prove a point.
This doesn’t seem like a conversation it sounds like she’s trying to beat him down to make him feel bad based on her own beliefs. Aren’t journalists supposed to be unbiased?
You guys are totally right. That wasn't an interview, that was a series of accusations which she did not allow him to refute, and he is more than well spoked enough to have refuted them.
The worst part of that interview is the way she CONTINUOUSLY cuts him off, trying to forcibly negate his freedom of speech to steal the argument. Just. Stop it. Please.
@@bubbabeats11 - yes but she wasn't even making valid points.. Lenny apologising about his joke, has nothing to do with Trevor... was a very frustrating watch.
This isn't an interview, this is a failed attempt at a correction. She's trying to correct something that isn't wrong, it's just something she disagrees with. It's a one sided conversation.
If she had to watch any of Trevor’s shows from his early days in SA she would blow a gasket 😂😂😂 Trevor is the funniest person to come out of our country and his ability to make fun of every single person without showing any prejudice to any race is something I still commend him for
Trevor Noah is offended and blames white people for his failure of a career.. he is only famous because of rich conneccted parents, just like Amy Schumer because of Chuck Schumer. Get real bro.
Journalist, “Yeah but he’s black.” As if all black people everywhere are all the same. The narrow mindedness of that statement just really shows where she was going with this interview. Trying to guilt someone to feel bad about someone else’s experience that they don’t and never will feel bad about. That’s THAT person’s experience and feelings from somewhere else, not Trevor’s. I mean, I didn’t really get anything about race until my pops got stationed in the south when I turned 9. Other than that, the only thing I knew when it came to color was what I saw in my crayon box or ice cream flavors. That was my experience as a child, but taken out of context could offend a lot of people. So, her demeaning his personal experience and trying to take everything out of context deliberately is just all around rude.
You know what would be hilarious? There was a BBC "diversity chief" Miranda Wayland, so this woman's own company in this vid, who stated that Luther from the absolutely great show that I recommend by the same name called "Luther" with Idris Elba playing him, wasn't "black enough" because he didn't eat Caribbean food, didn't have many black friends, and such absolute horse sh*. So might as well say most of black Africa isn't "black enough" because they don't eat Caribbean food. Trevor should have questioned her on that in return. This is the level of mental infantilism we are dealing with when it comes to the inclusion and diversity crowd in the West which is put into actual management and power positions. I don't know how Westerners haven't collapsed themselves yet, but they are trying, oh they are trying.
I saw this interview over 2 years ago, and was appalled by her sheer ignorance, especially when she was trying to emphasize that what she was saying was right and what Trevor needed to do was agree with her and apologize for what he has said. Though she eventually calmed down when she saw that Trevor is not a push over. She also had a run with the prime minister of Barbados; Her Excellency quickly put this journalist in her place and she aligned over the remaining course of the interview.
Exactly!! I said the same thing as the interview continued and her rude imposing interview failed as Trevor wasn't having it thus changed her demeanour and I'll bet gained his respect after
I agree and ive come around on Trevor...at the same time this is karma rewarding hypocrisy. He's definitely played the role she's playing before when it comes to opposing views
This is the formula that the guy pioneered this "new journalist". Its being argumentative whether it gas a basis or not. Just picked a side an argue for hopefully good ratings. She probably doesn't believe what she is saying but paycheck over integrity
Being personally offended doesn't give you access to the ability to censor me. "Just because you're offended, doesn't mean you're right." - Ricky Gervais
“Are you not enforcing prejudices and stereotypes” from the same person that implied he should feel the same way as another black man because they are both black lol. Can’t make this stuff up.
Yes he’s literally frowning at how delirious she is. She’s scolding him, from a fake woke/righteous position instead of interviewing the guy. She’s so annoying. Thinking it’s her role to be coming to everyone’s defense, and her word over all logic
Trying to force him into admitting wrongs, guilt and regret that he doesn’t have. Wild to see. I really don’t know how some of these people keep their cool with “journalists” like this
Usually the people keeping their cool are much more intelligent than those journalists. Akin to losing your cool when a 5 yr old asks why is your hair gray, you just smile and answer, no need to stoop to their level of ignorance.
If Trevor feels sad at all, it is because he remembers telling jokes to make people laugh, instead of saying whatever his writers tell him to on a scripted news show
His South African stand up is legendary, but I think it only hits home if you live in Africa and have the cultural context... I noticed it by watching his USA tour; couldn't get into it
She sounds like every cancel culture person that’s triggered by comedians. Like you said Aba, “context is everything in comedy.” Glad Trevor Noah stood his ground on this one.
I wouldn't count on Trever Noah having a spine. He's had a history of being oversensitive about race so if anything this makes me think he's more defending HIMSELF not freedom to make a joke.
Someone should tell her that historically, and even in the present in Asia and even Latin America, the ones that get lined up against the walls after comedians are the reporters.
I pray that I never hear another word of British comedy. That ish suuuuuckkksss. Its terrible. If you're not willing to push the barrier you don't belong anywhere near an American comedy stage. We are not entertained by them. Thats not a diss.

She couldn't even help laughing with him. Reminds me of that time Patrice defended Don Imus on Fox, he was put up against a feminist, & got her to laugh at the "sexist" joke.
"I'm offended" is not an argument. Why is she so insistent that he's sorry about it, when he's obviously not. Trevor Noah makes the most "safe" and sanitised jokes anyways.
This "interview" was more about her than it was about him. So he could've just bounced and let her have this conversation with herself. SHE MOOVIN MAD BRUV!!!
As a black person from SA I’m surprised that Trevor didn’t burst out laughing at this ridiculous argument 😂😂 in him eyes he just looked amazed at how dumb this conversation was 😂😂
For me its funny how some black people from the US call themselves African-Americans, when the only thing relates them to Africa is some ancestors that got enslaved by other black tribes and sold. Didnt those people live enough generations in the US by now to just feel like Americans? Why the seperation? In a lot cases you can be happy you live in the US, even the people live in the US slums often have more than the regular people in a lot other countries on the world, such high is the US wealth status. Additionaly you guys have the right to speak whatever is on your minds and not being pulled away the next day by state special units and never been found again. I really dont understand people that claim to their long long ago roots so extremely, how can you claim to a root you basicaly never experienced yourself? You did not grew up in Africa, you did not experience the sturggle of people live in the countries there, so how can you identify yourself as such just by some ancient ancestors and by a color of your skin? I know some white people in the US do the same BS too, they call themself Anglo-americans or so. I really dont get it. You guys live in a solely different country, never really experienced the life of those countries you want to identify yourself with, thats so broken. Same issue we have here in germany with the tukish people in germany, they dont want to forget those roots, do not integrate, but became somethings between a german and a turkish person. If they go to Turkey the really turkish people there just shake their heads about them because they are so different. So as a "african-american" you have barelly anything in common to people living in African countries, you never went trough their struggles, you people are just Americans.
That was an interrogation, not an interview. Trevor outclasses every single interviewer who tries to trigger him. Just by simply speaking calmly and eloquently he makes them seem dumber with each reply. I wonder how much of Trevor's local stand up she has watched - before he went international. As a South African, I respect how he handles race because nobody is safe. It doesn't matter what flavour of chocolate you are!
@homo sexual feminine male whistleblower confesion your name sent my head spinning I'm still recovering, I'm not gonna attempt to decode your encrypted comment.
My favorite part about this interview is that its supposed to enforce and draw focus to issues regarding skin colour but also manages to categorize all black people as the same and try to draw abitrary connections all while acting ignorant at the same time. Truly a masterclass in shitty interview technique. Take notes journalists! Surprise Trevor didnt say ''Well youre black. Why dont we have the exact same opinion?'' Also, if being ''african america'' is a statement of being unique and separate, does that also not mean that they intentionally decided to have a connection but not the confused with africans? They are born, raised and live on a different continent and know nothing about the intricate parts of each others culture.
That wasn’t hard talk. That was an attack of Trevor and HIS personal beliefs on His racial life experiences, not really a critique about his craft. Why is she so angry? Sounds like she’s got identity issues. Trevor was a stand up professional and gentleman! And remember it’s comedy!! Chill the hell out!
This women was so annoying... As a South African we support Trevor all the way. Taking things out of context ignites fires and has no benifit. She is oblivious to everything 🤦🏾♂️... Respect to Trevor for standing his ground. 🙏🏾
I actually found that "Chocolate" joke quite heartwarming. At the time he was born, racial segregation had just ended here, and there were still tension between races. So I see it as beautiful that they formed a bond beyond race. Also who doesn't like chocolate 👀
I felt sympathy for him. The joke didn’t come from a malicious place and the way in which he delivered it directly contradicts what the interviewer was implying.

I just don’t get how the joke is prejudice if he included, white, black, and tan people. Literally everyone is a type of “chocolate” not just one group

But u would have to have our sense of humor to understand. Trevor has gone in harder... He goes after our politicians, race issues, culture, etc. This woman must relax....
I came here for this comment. It's so hypocritical too because the UK (by some of us) are considered architects of racism. But I guess they find our ability to see humor in our racial diversity as offensive because they see our racial diversity as an offense.

On behalf of all British people who appreciate comedians, I apologise for this stupid woman, I don't even really like Trevor Noah that much as a comedian but this whole interview is just moronic and he handled it brilliantly
I can’t believe this woman went after Trevor Noah like that, he is seriously one of the most safest stand-up comedians. He also didn’t do anything wrong by saying that he and his family are chocolate, actually find that analogy to be quite sweet, no pun intended.
I think it’s because he’s one of the safest comedians they feel they can go after them and strong arm them into changing their ways to fit the persons views. Where as the more offensive comedians don’t care what other think so they just brush aside any criticism they get
Because you can always be more woke. What was once moderate is now exclusive. What was once liberal is now moderate. Strange how a culture that prides itself on being inclusive is also exclusive
Great reaction video! Smart, insightful and funny! I remember when I first saw this interview years ago how annoyed I was with the interviewer. I have seen many of her interviews for years before on the BBC and all she does is interrupt her guests and put them down. In about 35% to 50% cases, she has done that when a guest is talking BS or not answering her questions, and I have agreed with her interjections; however, in this case, she seems to have an agenda here to put him down. She doesn't seem to understand what comedy is and clearly does not understand context and did not do her research on Trevor's comedy to understand where he is coming from. I am pleased to see how Trevor set her straight. Other guests have not been able to do that. Merci!
I'm a black guy and when I'm offered chocolate, I'll quite lamely say that I'm the only chocolate i need in my life. Because I usually have a serious, external demeanor, most white people laugh. But some don't. Comedy is subjective and sometimes the best jokes, although can be seen a little offensive, remedy a tense situation.
The gall to call him out for doing African accents in his set. HES AFRICAN, HE'S DOING AN IMPRESSION OF HIS OWN MOTHER. Who is that offensive to? The implication that he should somehow white up his mums voice? So his mums voice isn't racist?
This is what reverse racism initially referred to until sjw’s appropriated that to mean “racism against whites” which is redundant for that is simply racism.
And to your point, what does a black person sounds like? It’s comedy and trying to say a South African can or cannot impersonate people who he was raised around is insulting
@Blue Plumbob if you think that he single handedly can promote racism and discrimination towards black people then you haven't gone outside. The purpose of a joke is to display a satirical, absurd, or hyperbolic take on an aspect(s) of life. If you're take a joke that serious then you shouldn't be listening to comedy. A racist isn't going to be more racist because of jokes. A racist is going to be a racist because they're racists. They aren't created out of the jokes he tells. They're created because of other racists and their influence in implanting discriminatory ideology that other races are less than
People like this woman do their best to erase context in order to generate controversy (and hate, and animosity) out of nothing because they directly benefit financially, professionally and socially from the engagement it creates, and such people can be absolutely counted on to frame any resistance to the erasure of context as "splitting hairs." He's not splitting hairs, sweetie. He's sorting fruit. Specifically, apples and oranges. People like this woman will serve you tomato in a fruit salad, and when you complain, she says "it's all fruit," instead of "I can see why you don't want to eat that."
Exactly she’s finding any reason to fight because she directly benefits from this. This reminds me of the interview with Jordan Peterson and that one reporter who kept trying to criticize him
@@bongzilla4172 Agreed. I’m politically in the middle so I hate cringe on either side. I think most people are overall closer to the middle but the crazies of CNN, Fox and UA-cam equivalents are the loudest.
The swift realisation in Trevor's eyes that this scripted, tokenised woman has allowed herself to be weaponised for the BBC's agenda. He definitely outsmarted her by remaining cool, calm and collected.
As a South African let me tell you this: we make jokes about literally EVERYTHING! We are currently going through an electricity crises and guess what we are doing? making jokes about it. Every South African comedian I have seen includes race in their stand up We laugh and laugh especially if it’s a joke about our own race 🤷🏻♀️ so she wants Trevor apologise for being South African? imagine
An explanation of a joke is never anything like the joke originally being told. Even the exact words written down and read afterwards completely changes it. Like Trevor says the context with communication is so important.
It’s very strange… I was born in Africa… in a refugee camp where people died and came to after fleeing the war so from the moment I was born I saw a lot of things that by the time I came to live in Australia at the age of 7 turning 8, my mindset was already like that of a teenager, being born in an atmosphere that requires you to grow and gives you no time to enjoy being a child as you are always and taught to be in fight or flight survival mode. I used to get teased a lot in primary school, “darkie, chocolate, dark and ugly, sunburnt…”, I used to laugh back at those kids and say “I’m flattered that you think I’m chocolate, I do like chocolate, I’m lucky enough to be called a sweet that I never had the luxury of being able to eat”, then they’d look at me like “huh 🤨” confused to see that the words they’d use to hurt other darker toned children did not affect me at all. I had faced WAY worse things from being born in a refugee camp, worrying about what snotty nosed little kids had to say about my “skin” when I was just chilling there GRATEFUL to be alive, grateful that my family MADE it out and could finally have a chance at a normal life, silly words like that mean nothing to me. Doesn’t mean they don’t hurt others but I’m saying that for some who experience the toughness of Africa, some insults will not affect us the same way. And I used to tell jokes in school where I referenced amongst my white friends how I’d win during hide and seek at night because all I had to do was take off my clothes and blend in with the darkness, and we’d ALL laugh together about how funny that was and share a moment where even my Asian friends would make jokes about their Asian culture and we’d laugh and have a moment of pure happiness. What you find offensive may not be that way to others of the same class, race, culture as you, and our experiences are all different. Making jokes for me made those that wanted to “bully” me STOP… Because they saw that it did not bother me ONE BIT and I couldn’t give a damn when I’d just escaped a literal war zone 🙄😩☺️. Love and light, jokes are jokes, they’re not meant to hurt you, they’re meant to get you to laugh and see that it’s alright to laugh sometimes…
Be proud to be you, own it and nobody can bully or make fun of you. It’s not just skin color, people go through the same thing if they are obese, have a big nose, gap teeth, big forehead, etc. People try to hurt other people, it’s up to you whether they are successful or not, if you can laugh at yourself people will respect you a lot more. Happy for you brotha, hope life continues to improve for you!

It's only been 2 million years or so since my ancestors Migrated to Europe so check your privileges! We all came from somewhere and we all sometimes need something to laugh about, I have red hair and heard so many jokes about having no soul almost all of them were at least somewhat entertaining. In short It's a Joke Not a Sausage Don't Take It So Hard

The first time I heard Trevor Noah, it was absolutely apparent how intelligent the man is and will probably always be. Thank You Aba & Preach.
As an African staying in Africa, I find that you westerners have too much time. When you have to worry about water, electricity, high cost of food and etc, you'd occupy your minds with more edifying things other than cancelling stuff.
As an American I totally agree with you. We don’t realize how good we have it compared to others..
People would be better off with productive hobbies in the west.

On behalf of all British people who appreciate comedians, I apologise for this stupid woman, I don't even really like Trevor Noah that much as a comedian but this whole interview is just moronic and he handled it brilliantly
Absolutely!!

Trevor's patience is just incredible.
Wasn’t even addressing what he was saying, definitely would have walked out mid way through.
I wanna agree. But methinks he was just prepared for the bullshit.
I was just thinking of when Naomi walked out on that one interviewer. He's very patient.
Yeah he is, I would have flipped
Man I was boiling in my seat I cannot stand people like her
I can’t believe this woman went after Trevor Noah like that, he is seriously one of the most safest stand-up comedians.
Some times those who find racism in everything are actual the racists . Any normal person will see good in chocolate comaprision
Merci!
Everything can be funny. not that every joke is funny, but nobody should be punished for trying. Patrice had the best take on this.
Indeed. The attempt to be funny should be protected.

Lmao that joke is so corny its funny
Quite frankly I'm offended you don't eat chocolate, are you some kind of freak? 😂
Ngl my brother that joke stinks 😂
I just imagined blade saying that and man did I cringe
Lmao it’s cringe but good I love shitty jokes 😂😂 keep it up and I’m stealing that friend
They're created because of other racists and their influence in implanting discriminatory ideology that other races are less than
@Blue Plumbob Those problematics individuals are gonna find anything to justify their beliefs.
@Blue Plumbob i like that you had to feed us a paragraph of nonsense before you got to your point.

Unfortunately he will continue to take that check... He just happens to be smarter than this intersectional idiot!

Shit fuck him. He's been trying to cancel people for years now. Shit you hear him talk about Trump?
Nah, you don’t get credit after it happens to you
Its actually a 4 year old interview so he's known for a while
People like this woman do their best to erase context in order to generate controversy (and hate, and animosity) out of nothing because they directly benefit financially, professionally and socially from the engagement it creates, and such people can be absolutely counted on to frame any resistance to the erasure of context as "splitting hairs." He's not splitting hairs, sweetie. He's sorting fruit. Specifically, apples and oranges. People like this woman will serve you tomato in a fruit salad, and when you complain, she says "it's all fruit," instead of "I can see why you don't want to eat that."
couldn’t have said it better myself
Exactly she’s finding any reason to fight because she directly benefits from this. This reminds me of the interview with Jordan Peterson and that one reporter who kept trying to criticize him
I had to screenshot this so I can quote you and remember how you worded it. Haven't been able to put it into words this well.

As a South African let me tell you this: we make jokes about literally EVERYTHING! We are currently going through an electricity crises and guess what we are doing? making jokes about it. Ne..... imagine! Nie hie nie.
It's very much a way of a people to make comedy out of tragedy.
And when you laugh, it diffuses the tension.
no but you don't need to justify yourself, trevors joke is a joke universally, just not to certain people looking to be offended
Shes uncultured
An explanation of a joke is never anything like the joke originally being told. Even the exact words written down and read afterwards completely changes it. Like Trevor says the context with communication is so important.
“Because he’s Lenny Henry and I’m Trevor Noah”. Done… he doesn’t need to say anything else. Everyone is their own person.
This was profound thank you for sharing
Goddamn! This is really insightful. More power to you my friend!
Thank you for sharing this!! Such a perspective!!
Stay strong melaninated Queen. Prayers all the way from Texas queen
