Greetings John, this is the second owner of this Mazda 3, We would like to give you an update on it and that as of writing this comment, the car is currently at 255,917 miles and is still running strong. We made some small cosmetic changes to the car, like the driver air vent which had some adhesive on it, along with touching up the leather on the steering wheel since it was faded, along with the steering wheel control buttons being replaced with new ones, and the Mazda logo on the steering wheel airbag cover was repainted to a silver color. We also changed the stereo so we could use the CD player, along with LED interior lighting, and we put a functional shark fin antenna. We also cleaned the headlights and the rust spot on the B-Pillar was improved significantly but still needs work. We were surprised to find this video on UA-cam when we bought the car at the Volkswagen dealership back in December of 2017 thinking that the car in this video is the car we have now. Just know that this car is in very good hands and we are very much taking care of it! Thank you very much!
Thanks for the comment! When my sister traded it in I was like man I wish I left a note in the glove box telling whoever buys this that their Mazda is on youtube. What a small world that you found this video. I'm glad this car is still around doing well. My parents bought it for my sister new and she went to college in Riverside with it then she used this job with her career for a few years. Didn't the suspension need some work? I will do a follow up of this video with your comment. I was really hoping she was going for 300,000 miles with it. She traded this in for a new Jetta and already has 60,000 miles on it. She worked from home the past year she would of had 100,000 on her Jetta if it werent for lockdown. Does it still have a K&N Filter? I never know what to buy my sister so I got that for her like the 2nd or 3rd year she had this car. I hope you keep me updated when it hits 300,000!
You're absolutely welcome for the reply! The engine air filter has been replaced already but I'm not sure about the cabin air filter. We also had the transmission control module replaced, put a new battery cover, and also an air duct that connects to the battery. Those were added since some engine trim pieces were missing. The suspension has not been fixed yet at the moment. We also have a few more fixes we did like replacing the cigarette lighter light bulb and we also fixed the light bulb for the DSC off button and repainted the transmission selector cover with a silver color as well along with the light bulb on the transmission selector being replaced. Not to mention we also added a cargo mat in the cargo area.
@@renkiraa IF you go through the comments so many people were wondering how this car is doing 4 years later. My sister traded it in I think November 2017 I really thought she was going to go for 300,000 miles but there were sales on Jettas the car she always wanted. Now I can make an update video of it. I wish you would make a video on this car.
Once you own a mazda 3 you find everything on the car has been extremely carefully designed. The parts are pretty high quality and there are so many parts avaialble on ebay that you can buy anything for it cheaply. Shock absorbers are common problem. Great car.
My sister traded this in for a New Jetta. I predict the Jetta will start falling apart at 100,000 miles. This car really impressed me. Really high quality for a economy car.
The door lock design is kind of terrible (like three obvious points of failure and I've replaced one and need to replace at least one more, and get your recalls done, BUT other than that I'd agree, very solid car.
287,000 miles on my 2008 Mazda 3i with 2.0 liter. Changed front struts(quick change), coil springs and shocks in the rear at 150,000 miles approx. A/C works on occasion. This car is my first foriegn car I've owned and would recommend this to anyone.
@@Nihil2005 Nice! You put a lot of miles on that in 4 years. My Concerns with any vehicle made after 2010 is they all seem disposable now. I don't think were going to see lots of 2010 Era Vehicles in 20 years like I see 90s and early 2000s vehicles still around.
@@JohnDrivesAnything yeah, I drive a lot and I plan to keep this car until it dies. I don't like the newer cars either and I'm glad I don't have any car payments and I never will.
@@Nihil2005 My sister traded this in for a 2017 Jetta last year and her Jetta already has 27,000 miles on it. I will be surprised if the Jetta goes 100,000 miles trouble free.
I just bought a 2008 Mazda 3 at the dealer I work at! Has some rust problems underneath, but otherwise it's in amazing shape all around. Has 128k miles and it runs amazing, and gets good mileage. Has the trusty 2.0L. Planning to fix the rust and I have no doubt it'll last for years! Sharp little eco box.
Congrats man. What impresses me the most is the Transmission made it to 200,000. Most Modern Cars with an Automatic need a replacement/fix in the 100,000 mile range.
i had a 2006 mazda 3s put 260k on mine beforw i traded it in,had to repalce just one motor mount and ball joints.....other wise it was a perfect car...i just picked up my 2017 mazda 3 grand touring hatchback.....iam a mazda owner for ever.
I just saw this car for sale at a local Toyota shop so I went on UA-cam and stumbled across this video and I realized where you filmed is right near my house lol! 😭 great video btw!
@@JohnDrivesAnything If I’m correct about the area that this video is filmed I saw a similar car for sale at the Toyota of Chula Vista. But unfortunately I believe this car sold as it was removed from the website in a day
@@CapybaraKami I appreciate you stopping by and letting me know you saw this car for sale. I just filmed this years ago because I just like talking about cars and it ended up being one of my most popular videos lol. I'm glad I made a video of my sisters car this video always lets me see it.
AutomotiveVlog Not a whole lot and honestly I haven’t taken the best care of it so it’s amazing that it’s still going strong. Bought it from my roommate with about 20k miles on it who bought it new. I’ve had the shocks and struts replaced all around. I’ve had some other small suspension things fixed as well but as far at the engine and transmission it’s all original. I did recently have a scare, which thought was a bad transmission but after doing some research found it was the transmission control module and while not cheap, was able to get a refurbished one for about $300 to keep it going. I’m hoping to get another 40k miles on it. I need to place my spark plugs. They are the original, going to do that this week. It blows my mind how great this car has held up. I will add I’ve always run full synthetic Mobil1 oil, which I think helps. And for the first 8 years I only put premium in it (which is what the manual says). However I haven’t ran premium in it for the last couple years and don’t really notice any difference.
She traded it in November 2018. I wish I left a note in the glove box for the new owner to look up this video. It had 210,000 miles when she traded it in. She traded it in for a new JEtta. She just likes Jettas and her dream Jetta when she was a kid was a lemon. I think it has 40,000 miles on it already she drives a lot for her job that's why she ended up with a new car.
Sweet ride! That things pretty quick for 200,000 + miles! I just about died when you turned off traction control and said "it's not like this car's gonna light em up or anything" 2 seconds later sounds of tires leaving rubber on the road is heard ROTFL
Thanks man. I will do a follow up of this video. The 2nd owner actually left a comment on this video. It's up to 250,000 miles now. I will talk about that and the car my sister replaced it with.
I picked up a 2009 Mazdaspeed with 200.000 miles for my commuter and running strong did some work like lowering springs air intake short shifter front and rear bearing struts and rear shocks also both belts run great
I would like to own one import in my time. I still want a Mazda RX8. If this channel continues to grow maybe next year I'll use my funds from this channel to get one.
The RX8 has a Rotary Non Turbo. 1.3 liter 238 horsepower. Revs up to 9000 RPM. Always liked this car because only Ferraris Rev that high in production cars. There value has gone down the toilet because it got a bad reputation for eating oil.
Yeah but I guess Import guys are dumb and don't like checking their oil. True car guys check thier oil at every fuel stop. Mazda had to extend the warranty on the RX8s to 100,000 miles.
Bought a 07 I touring ,had 100,000 miles. I've had a 99 carmy,a 98 Altima.and a 08 ford focus ..my Mazda has been my favorite car I've bought and it has been the most reliable..
Got a 07 mazda 3 with the 2.3 with 248k. Replaced tcm at 200k struts and shocks at 210k motor mounts at 195k and the coolant outlet at 240k. Never left me on the side of the road.
I'm sure Mazda 3 Speed 3s are sweet rides. I hate driving automatics but this car was impressively built for an Econobox. This ended up being one of my most viewed videos glad I shared my thoughts on this car seems like people are interested in them now
@@wg4476 Really impressive car being an econobox. My Daily driver is a 2015 Abarth and that car only has 50,000 miles on it and it's built like total crap LOL. The dash and window area already has squeeks. I'm slowly taking daily driver duty away from it because I love the car but doubt it'll even last 100,000 miles
Awesome video I'm looking at a 2008 Mazda 3 , the 2008 Ford focus I currently own and drive is literally falling apart and having a ton of issues and the sad thing is it has wicked low miles and no rust on it and I live in upstate new york , but it's time for the focus to go and for a different car that's more reliable .
Nice! That's a great deal. I'm really impressed with how this car held up even with 200,000 miles and only having a motor mount issue in that whole time.
2000$ and it's a grand touring? There's got to be some catch KBB for mine was 6000$ with , 100k miles and the passenger rear door being smashed in from getting in accident. That's a hell of a deal like my jaw hit the floor when I read this. I only paid, 3000$ and that's with the rear door being smashed in but it's been inspected and it's safe has service history trans pan was spotless when i changed it and that was after 25,000 miles on the fluid
Private seller or dealer? Look up the value and if it's priced fair go for it. I'm really impressed with how trouble free this car was. My sister got rid of it at 215,000 miles I wish I knew how it was doing now.
I got the last c-class mercedes (w206) ; I bought it second hand with only 10.000 km (not miles, km. I'm french). I sold it one year later with around 35.000 km...boring with troublesome. Every month must go to the garage. Now I got the new Mazda 6. I hope it will be like this one :-) I don't want to buy german cars anymore.
Mazda 3 I 2.0 2007 with 248,000 milage. Replaced passenger side engine mount twice. Replaced struts. Normal maintenance with oil and transmission fluid flush. Routine brakes service. Still runs good. Transmission shifts smoother than my Hondas.
I own a 2007 Mazda Axela. It’s basic as it doesn’t have the fancy stuff as seen in this video. I own mine for almost 5 years, it’s been my daily ever since. Last week I drove the car long distance and it was amazing, then I tried to achieve top speed. Right now I topped my previous speed of 140Kmph with 160/165kmph. Still need to get the 180Kmph..
I have 2008 mazda 3i, I think it is, 174 k miles, still runs good, has a lite ticking , lifter, , been like that for a long time, still has the original spark plugs, has not ever needed a tune up, just only changed brakes on it, currently needs struts.
All cars need tune that's why they break not just oil changes but fuses and different sensors helping your engine work properly fyi sensors are a big help in fixn problems.. mechanics are scam artist bunch of fraudsters fuckn narcissistic clowns....spark plugs, coils, throttle body ,battery ,alternator,etc...etc...
Nice I love these cars it gives me hope mines will get to that many miles I have an 09 but the 2.0 I really wanted the 2.3 but mines is fully loaded like your sisters car but I just crossed 100,000 on it and it's been really good to me I haven't had to replace much only breaks, tires and a motor mounts and a faulty alternator that was after market caused the battery light to display and a ac compressor now I have to replace a mass air sensor but which all of which was covered under warranty so basically I haven't paid out of pocket
Hi, thank you for the video!!! Do you know what kind of maintenance was done to the transmission? Changed oil at some point? It looks like shifts very well for this mileage... Greetings from Canada
I'll ask my sister the next time I hang out with her. The new owner of this car commented on this video. It's up to 250000 miles now. I'm glad the new owner commented on how its doing
@@JohnDrivesAnything thank you John, i really appreciate that. It’ll help me a lot. Buying a used car it’s very hard when we don’t have much money and when we came from another country with different models. Greetings.

I have a 2006 manual and have driven it 4 times across country. It has 147k only problem is the ac goes out when it’s hotter than 100 degrees and is a bitch to fix also one of the rear Windows won’t go down but it is a fun little car
I have a 2009 Nissan Versa with 126k miles, my sister has a 2007 Mazda 3 also white with 127k miles I think I’m not so sure but it does have like 120something miles ...She’s upgrading for a new car so I’m selling my car to buy her car, what do you think? I wanted a Jeep Patriot but for now I don’t mind buying her car until I can upgrade for a newer one. But what do you think of that?
AutomotiveVlog In the versa yes, like buy new shocks, changed the wheels, I had to change the pump gas which was like $500 and other things I don’t remember. And on the Mazda my sister said she just paid $600 on shocks and I’m not sure what else she had change. By the way she’s selling me her car for $3,200 and I’m selling my for $4,000
What's the deal with the 5 speed auto? Are they reliable units ? I got 110,000 in mine and I changed the fluid and filter after 25,000 miles and the pan was spotless
@@narcotic-uy8qj This car impressed me so much I'm thinking of getting a Mazda 5 with a manual to do delivery jobs on the side. The 2.3 isn't a powerhouse motor but it's good enough and a legit 200,000 mile with minimum maintatinence motor.
I love the whistling sound the intake makes it almost sounds like a turbo if u look at the air intake box there's a little tiny box connected to the main air box that's what makes the sound
@@JohnDrivesAnything I got a 2006 mazda 6 (209,Thousand and counting ) i say Mazda Are reliable with just keeping maintenance up to date not just oil changes but fuses and different sensors helping your engine work properly
Probably don’t matter by now, but the airbag light is probably on because the airbag light in the center console has gone out or been removed. Did the same in my mazzi took the light out of the center and it popped up on the dash
AutomotiveVlog what should the mpg be , I have a 2005 2.3 also but I feel my mpg isn’t so great .. let’s say you had a full tank and drove 60 mile, gas tank full, how low would the needle go ?
I've had 2 Mazdas a Protege and a Tribute both were pretty good rides. My new Focus has 160hp and the paddle shifters which might be ok if your a kid but they are pretty much useless, lol. Had been wondering where you've been buddy good to hear from you.
160 HP is a good amount for small cars. So fake manual still sucks? I know it's good in super high end cars but seems to take like a second or 2 to shift when it's in fake manual mode, So I just leave it in Drive and never use it.
Yeah, 160hp and 158 flbs of torque in a car that doesn't weigh shit makes it get up and go pretty good. The paddle shifters are ok for straight line but they suck for driving on twisty roads. I took it in and they took the granny settings out of the transmission control computer and put it into adaptive mode where it learns how I drive and its been much better with the 6 speed dual clutch automatic.
A friend of mine rented a New Hyundai Accent and it had an Eco mode button. It's pretty cool if you're in that mode the RPM wont go over 3000 even if you floor it. Is the Granny setting like Eco mode? My dad is 99% convinced to buy a Raptor in December as long as he can find one that isn't marked up over MSRP. That thing has all kinds of Transmission modes. I hope he buys it I'll borrow it all the time and make videos about it.
No the factory settings would let the car fall on it's face when trying to accelerate around a corner or when you slow down for a light and it changes before you get there. The adaptive mode allows the trans computer to learn your driving style and adapt to it. I like Raptor but I'm not sure about it having a V6 with a 10 speed auto trans or I would wait until the second or third year with the changes to make sure the bugs are worked out. I'm thinking about paying of my car and waiting for the new Bronco to come out.
I've been doing some searching for him since I really want him to get one and I want to live vicariously through him and I found one for $55,000 and $59,000 Then there are crazy marked up ones for $100,000 The good news is I think he will be able to find a non marked up one by December. I think a lot of people aren't happy that it's a V6. I think that sucks that it's a V6. Don't care that it has 40 more horsepower over the V8 I know it's not going to sound cool. The good thing is my dads such an old man he likes that it's a V6 and quiet. He's so old he wears ear plugs when I give him a ride in my Z06. There's one dealer that has 17 new Raptors on the lot so at least here they aren't flying off the showroom. I did recommend that he gets a second year model. Is the new Bronco a go?
I have an 05 Mazda 3. In manual mode I noticed your year model will blip the throttle for you. Mine year model does not. I think mine also has automatic traction control. I tried ripping it like you did but got no wheel spin.
You should have the IMFC checked out. usually those are the ones that goes bad. if one of the flaps breaks out on the intake manifold, it goes bye bye to your valves and an engine repair would be needed.
Nice! I really wish I left a note inthe glovebox of this car when my sister traded it in to let the new owner know theres a video on youtube of this car and too keep me updated on how many miles it has now
I´m looking for a used car for my 20 year old son who is in college. I have paid attention to this car due to the great reviews I see everywhere but quite honestly I'm very disappointed at these car's suspension system. All three Mazda 3s I have seen so far were making a lot of noises coming from anywhere in the suspension and also, as could be expected from a sport car, the ride is pretty tough. Nice looking car, I'd say the best looking car in its class but if you don't want to be replacing shocks, strouts, mounts, sway bars or if you are looking for a comfortable ride you better go CIvic.
Honestly I think the best cheap car is the 04 Generation of Corollas. My mom had one but it new and it had 177,000 miles on it before she got into an accident. 0 problems.
U still got ripped-off with that fix... My motor mounts for my Infiniti cost me with labor only $275 cash! $1200 for a budget car, must of been cause she's a girl... lol
You gotta put it in manual mode. You can actually redline it about about 7200 rpm. Unfortunately my Mazda 3 I think always has traction control on. I have never been able to break the tires loose like that. And mine is the 2.3.
I like the MAzda 5 just because it's a stick and the 2.3 engine is impressively reliable. 130,000 KM is only 80,000 miles that's nothing. What motor does it have? Mazda makes a good product. The only trash product they make is the RX8. This car impressed me with how trouble free it was up to 200,000 miles. Just avoid dealerships. Dealerships of anybrand overcharge for repairs. If you're getting a good deal 80,000 miles is low. Seems like the common problem with these cars is suspension and motormounts.
AutomotiveVlog It is from a dealership but it seems like I don’t need it repaired, and even if I do I won’t get it done from them anyways I’ll just hit up my buddy, and the motor I’m not sure 4 cylinder auto no skyactive tech ( I believe )

Has the trusty 2.0L. Planning to fix the rust and I have no doubt it'll last for years! Sharp little eco box.

Got 210,000 miles on my Mazda 3 2.3L. It’s been an incredible car. Still going strong.
Nice what has been fixed so far?
AutomotiveVlog Does your sister still have the Mazda? Curious if it’s still running.
I never script my videos, and it makes moments like that cooler. Still has some power left even with a 4 banger and 200,000+ miles.
I had a 2010 mazda 3 with 127k on it.
Cool man, what did you replace it with?

I would like to own one import in my time. I still want a Mazda RX8. If this channel continues to grow maybe next year I'll use my funds from this channel to get one.
I say you get a RX7, and teach your followers the rotary experience.
The RX8 has a Rotary Non Turbo. 1.3 liter 238 horsepower. Revs up to 9000 RPM. Always liked this car because only Ferraris Rev that high in production cars. There value has gone down the toilet because it got a bad reputation for eating oil.
Doesn't every rotary gobble oil?
Yeah but I guess Import guys are dumb and don't like checking their oil. True car guys check thier oil at every fuel stop.
Mazda had to extend the warranty on the RX8s to 100,000 miles.

I've been doing some searching for him since I really want him to get one and I want to live vicariously through him and I found one for $55,000 and $59,000
Then there are crazy marked up ones for $100,000
The good news is I think he will be able to find a non marked up one by December.

I´m looking for a used car for my 20 year old son who is in college. I have paid attention to this car due to the great reviews I see everywhere but quite honestly I'm very disappointed at these car's suspension system. All three Mazda 3s I have seen so far were making a lot of noises coming from anywhere in the suspension and also, as could be expected from a sport car, the ride is pretty tough. Nice looking car, I'd say the best looking car in its class but if you don't want to be replacing shocks, strouts, mounts, sway bars or if you are looking for a comfortable ride you better go CIvic.

Unfortunately my sister traded this in with 214,000 miles for a new car. I wish I left a note in the glove box when she traded it in for the new owner to look this video up to keep us updated on where it's at
The 2nd Owner actually stumbled on this video. I know it's the 2nd owner because he named quirks I didn't mention in this video like a small rust spot in the B pillar. IT's up to 250,000 miles now
What's the max mileage you think a Mazda 3 gt 2010 could have, I just got one that has 262,000 km
My Sister Traded this in with 215,000 miles. I really wish I left a little note in the glove box with the title to this video so the new owner can report where they are. It got to 200,000 miles with just that motor mount issue.
@@JohnDrivesAnything thanks for replying so quick, I also have the extended 3 year warranty which I hope it could last til 4 years and il trade it in for another Mazda or car
I think you're at 160,000? I think a lot of modern cars are worth keeping until about 200,000 miles. I sold my 2004 Saturn Ion at 190,000 just to avoid potential problems. It all depends how much you like the car. My sister drives a lot so she needed something new. She drives 30,000 miles a year with her current job.
is your sister a school teacher
She sets up peoples retirement plans and stocks. She drives a lot. She traded this car in and put 40,000 miles on her car the first year. If it weren't for the lockdowns and working from home her new car would have 100,000 miles on it by now. I really wanted to see her put 300,000 on this car but he wanted something new.
First car with a dual man/auto transmission was the Pontiac GTO i think it was in 1965-69
Nice man
it's a pretty decent car but saying the cars is better in reliability than a corolla is bull
I don't remember saying that in this video. I tell people all the time who just want a car for point A and Point B and don't care about cool factor to get a Corolla especially the 04 Generation
@@JohnDrivesAnything in 2:53 you say that. but im not sure if you mean "quality" in terms of reliability or like materials and things like that
@@stev_0690 I meant the interior is really nice for being an economy car. I had a 2004 Saturn Ion and my mom had a 2004 Corolla their interiors were no where near as nice as this car. It is impressive for a economy car. I'd take the Corolla over this if I wasn't a car enthusiast due to reliability Boring car though
@@JohnDrivesAnything ok
Did the car fall apart yet?
Sister traded it in with 215,000 miles on it. I wish I left a note in the car to letthe new owner know to look this video up.
@@JohnDrivesAnything Im picking up an 07 with 211k just something to mess around with. Trading it for an 05 trailblazer with 234k.
@@getpaid200 Nice thats a lot of Miles out of that Blazer. 234,000 trouble free as it gets miles? Hows the MAzda? My sisters car still felt very nice at 200,000 miles didn't feel junky.
Did she make it to 3k?
The new owner left me a comment. It's up to 250,000
I just got a 2006 mazda 3 for $300 301.000 miles its probably more
Cool hope you make it to 400,000!
@@JohnDrivesAnything I hope so to lol. Good video man
@@Devo1987 Nice Truck man how many miles do you have on that?
Ive got 200065 on mine its my daily driver
Any problems yet?
Any updates on this car?
She just traded it in for a 2017 Jetta. It made it to 215,000 miles. She said something was wrong with the front end and made a loud clicking sound when she turned and it was going to cost $1000 for fix so she traded it in.
I doubt the Jetta will last 200,000 miles Her last one was a lemon and was traded for this car . But she likes Jettas and didn't want to buy a Benz.
Any idea if this car is still available at the dealership where you traded it in?
She traded it in here. I don't know if they sold her car or if they listed it yet. www.vwofkearnymesa.com/bargain-inventory/index.htm?start=0&
12:08 interesting musical choice lol. Sounds like an old Sega racing game
Street Fighter 2 Guile Theme
0:08 hes jealous because he loves his sister as a sister
LOL
Hope your sister doesn't see this video breaking the tires lose with 207k....nice way to treat an old car.
She saw it and told my parents. I'm grounded for 2 weeks =(
I have the exact same car 2.3 except for an economy car I get SHIT mpg! Full tank of gass will get me 200miles so about 15/16 mpg
That's what I forgot to mention. These things are horrible on fuel for being economy cars. My sister averaged around 23 MPG. I averaged 28 on My Saturn Ion. 15/16 is really bad though. You might need a tuneup
The best I can ever manage with this car even new was around 31 MPG. It's pretty bad compared to other economy cars I've driven.
15-16 MPG isn't normal though. I'm use to 23 on this car.
San Ysidro high school in front
Small World !
$1,200 for motor mounts??? They are like $160 or less for both (two) on rockauto!!! Haha install them yourself and save $1,040, this guy rambles ….
ok
Moi juste 128
Fake?.just say clutch less dude
Is a female that identifies as a dude a nutsack less male?
You really had to do it to the Saturn 😒
Do what?
Mazda rx8 worst ever made, avoid itat all cost.
I ended up getting a Abarth 500 for my Daily driver. Probably not much better then a RX8 lol. I swear if it ends up being junk I'm just getting a Hyundau Accent HAtch back with a manual for a daily.
this mazda is a drunkard !
