Baybee!! Word on the street is that a couple of months after Taraji P Henson talked about pay disparity in Hollywood, and made Oprah Winfrey look like a villain, she’s having a pretty hard time landing jobs.
Allegedly, she’s gotten to the point where she has to sell her assets koz Hollywood has officially blackballed her!
So, is she really broke or is she selling her homes because Chicago is just not doing it for her? Let’s find out!

I think she’s doing the right thing. Why continue to pay a Mortgage on property that your not living in or a city that you rarely visit. When Taraji purchased both condos she was on top of her career. She was the main star of Empire. And let us not forget she was engaged to an football player who was from Chicago. After Empire was discontinued and her engagement was over so was Chicago. I’m sure she probably wanted to keep both condos, but as she said “The Money Wasn’t Maffin.” She is a phenomenal actress and she will be on top again. Don’t give up keep praying and ask God for wisdom and knowledge. Pray for guidance and favor. He will order your steps. In Jesus Name. Amen 🙏
IF she banked her assets on her acting career then great - but a football player to whom she was engaged to, should not be nowhere in the matrix of her stock portfolio, assets or financial standings. For claiming "equality" you just set women back at least 50 years by affiliating his financial status to her purchasing abilities.
This happens to all women in every field. Girl I believe I deserve a raise too!

I think actors and actresses need to diversify their income. For instance, stop buying homes that don’t generate income. Instead invest in assets, like stocks, etf, real estate, like an apartment building. Same applies to us regular folks.

I knew this was coming, I was hoping that she would have just said No Thank You until the right films come along. I believe Taraji is very talented and intelligent. I feel like part of the issues is she’s being mismanaged. I read somewhere that Dwayne Johnson felt like he was not getting real opportunities so he fired everybody, got a new team, and is much better for it.

The roles she play aren't roles that will sell movies overseas. They don't care about a poor, battered, struggling strong single mother in other parts of the country like they are here in the US. She's pretty much type cast herself and this is the only market for those type movies. Proud Mary and Hidden Figures are probably really 2 of the only few roles where she showed versatility.
There are too many female actresses who can be picked to play those roles, so that makes it hard for her to ask for a payday of $20 million and the movie budget are probably that much in itself.

I like Taraji and she’s a very talented performer. However, there’s a time and a place to address your thoughts and concerns. During the promotion of The Color Purple was not the time nor the place. I would held on to that acorn for a long time and wrote about in a memoir or something years later.

I think we are over the storyline color purple came out almost 2 years ago or at least a year ago and the only thing I can say is that I would have suggested that Taraji comment after the movie after the dust settles to express her concerns. While I’m certain she is accurate about pay disparity I hope she doesn’t make the same mistake Mo’Nique did and go on public bashing for years these heavyweights in the entertainment industry. Here’s the thing, we all understand sadly, it’s still a game no matter what industry that we have to play because when you piss off the wrong ones they have the ability to extremely harm careers. Being blacklisted in entertainment lasts years and can ruin folks.
