Another great Video, much to my familys amusement i've asked for the Thomas the Tank Engine books for Christmas as I love the art work in them (I'm 62 btw!) and I want to have a go at some small cameo pieces using the pics as inspiration as you have done. I also tried your poster paint wash out for the first time today on my narrow gauge Atkinson Walker Steam Tractor - I've used a lot of washes over the years but this rates as one of the best. Thanks for the tip, finally a tip for you, I couldn find any of the woodland scenics light cover that you use (The really fine wispy stuff), so I pulled the polyester stuffing out of an old pillow that was going to be thrown out, pulled it apart to thin it out and airbrushed it - it looks great and best of all is free and one pillow will out last me! Keep up the good work.
You should probably ask the Talylynn if you can come to the next Awdry Extravaganza (if Nant Gwernol is finished) and you should do double headers with all the Skarloey & Talyllyn stock you have. That would be really fun.
Very good George, "weathering" makes such a difference - but needs doing well. That chipping fluid technique is quite ingenious and works wonderfully on both "wood" and "sheet metal" body panels What's the antique white that you often use? Those are iconic vehicles actually. I think royal posteriors were supplied with cushions though, when quarry visits took place. Cheaper than the dentist. I see I'm at the end to view again . . .
Yay the toast-racks! always wondered if the backrests of the seats move to allow sitting facing in either direction, the size of the seats suggests "No"
No, these were ex-Penrhyn Quarry Railway quarrymen's coaches, with the undercarriage much modified from the PQR's 1ft10.75in to the TR's 2ft3in. As the quarrymen's trains to/from Bangor were superceded by buses roughly a decade before the main line down to Port Penrhyn closed entirely in 1962, they became redundant right when the TR needed more coaches. Each compartment seated eight men rather uncomfortably shoehorned in - four facing each way in each. Facing a given way for comfortable travel wasn't a priority!😅 I _think_ the slatted seats like these denoted examples built by Penrhyn Quarries themselves in their Coed-y-Parc workshops on the outskirts of Bethesda, while broad plank seats were fitted on examples contracted out to De Winton's in Caernarfon - if not, then it's the other way around.😊
'Ow Do George 👋 Love the tape trick. I don't recall the Penrhyn opens in use on the TR, but in practically every old shot of the things, they looked 'tired and in need of overhaul'. Did they even have suspension? Did you know it's alleged Queen Victoria used an open coach on a royal visit to Penrhyn (or one of the other big quarries)? It even had a repaint for the occasion (and I bet the seats got thoroughly sanded). How's about THAT for the subject of a Royal Train? 😂
I think I’ve seen photos of the penryhn opens running on the TR, but would have to double check that! They’re pretty basic, so the ride wouldn’t have been fab.. The royal coach, was that the yellow open? Very fancy design compared to these
Stunning well thought out models and nice work on your part. I wonder if they'd consider some generic stock for 0-16.5, vans, opens, brakes etc? It looks like several British small scale providers are no longer trading and with the advent of NG7 the need/demand could increase/never be greater.
Upon checking again, I think though that Chivers still seem to be in business making some nice goods and BV kits - I thought they'd dropped off the radar. All just in case others read this (Chivers' kits are very nice and go together well - the usual caveats apply, I'm merely a happy customer, albeit from some time back)😊👍💜
@@GWilliamsonModels Ahh, yes, thanks, that makes sense. I checked a year or so ago and they didn't have their 7mm stock. Also I'm not sure if Smallbrook are still trading 🤔🤔
* Ada, Jane and Mabel are actually numbers 6, 7 & 8, not 11, 12 & 13. That's why TR coach 8 was painted blue, as it's the only open that matches the numbers of the SR ones.
Hi you going to be getting any of that bachman 7mm narrow gauge Hereford model center do 15% off the bachman r r p as am getting a starter pack next Saturday

Hi George great job with the mini build coaches, thank you for sll your videos and all the helpfull info. God bless

I'm starting a narrow gauge layout because of this channel thnks for the inspiration :))

No problem mate
Ada, Jane and Mabel are 6,7,8 in the books but nonetheless they look amazing!!
Ah ok, I’ll change the numbers to those, cheers
As always very nice build and super finished product! Thanks for continuing with the series. Most impressive!

The antique white is a colour by ‘DecoArt’. It’s basically just a slightly off white/cream, so takes the harsh finish of pure white away
Yay the toast-racks! always wondered if the backrests of the seats move to allow sitting facing in either direction, the size of the seats suggests "No"
Yes, they don’t look they have the most room on them, but then again, the TR rebuilds aren’t too bad

See you at the Rapido event.
Should be a good one
Wow 10 pounds per coach is actually pretty good, not great but definitely cheaper than other manufacturers
Well Tbf I think £10 a coach is really cheap. It’s a niche product, so they will only sell a limited amount
Hi love vids
Cheers, glad you enjoy the channel
Well with Ur visit to modelu look out for the rev Awdry figure they sell in 00/009
Yes I might pick one up
