  • Track is back in and traffic is moving over the Lundbreck Realignment. Come rail-fanning at Burmis as 2 westbound struggle to the top of the hill with mid train pushers. The RTC has to do some juggling to accommodate an eastbound movement at the same time.

    • @SouthernAlbertaRail

      Surprised me about the crayons... Not as much as the alternative the young man at Staples gave me. Thought chalk would work just as well...... Perhaps some more science schooling would be beneficial for our young people!

    I take it you have "classes" of locomotives? Your SD70s are numbered in the 700s and your SD40s are numbered in the 400s. In writing out this comment it makes sense why. Do the second numbers mean anything? On my freelance, the SD40 rebuilds are numbered in the 700s, with the tens-place denoting what they were rebuilt from, SD45s, SD40-2s, SD40T-2s or 45T-2s, SDP45s, etc. I am wondering if you are doing something similar. Once again your videos tempt me to switch from HO to N, those long trains are absolutely fantastic.

    • @SouthernAlbertaRail
      @SouthernAlbertaRail  5 місяців тому

      Yes I do, good eye. The 4000 HP SD70mac's are 701 to 713. There are 3 SD70macT1's (flared rad), 721 - 723 and the SD70ACe's are in the 730 series. SD40-2's are 400's with no particular scheme other than the lower odd numbered units... 401, 403 and 405 were set up as Locotrol masters. There are a few SD40M's on the layout as well rebuilt from SD45's. Check out this video for more on that.
      ua-cam.com/video/8_UMorYy-qE/v-deo.html
      Thanks for watching and the great question. The roster has evolved over time and there are other classes of locomotives that live in the drawers under the layout. They show up from time to time when I feel nostalgic. I plan on doing a roster video one of these days to go over this in more detail... Cheers! -grant
