Sara Cadima what does the glycerin do? Does it add a sheen to them?
Your techniques here really helped me dye my flowers
That makes me so happy!
Gloves GIRL! Save those gorgeous nails!
Add some glitter to your spritz bottle!
Omg i love youand your ideas 💡
Thanks so much!
Colored mica powder dry push works good
What mix of paint and water/glycerin ratio do you find works best? LOVE your flowers 🌸
Not sure if you look at the comments but I love your videos!! Theyre so helpful and informational!!
I try as much as possible and they mean the world to me so thank you so much for letting me know you enjoy the tutorials!
Nice
I found that drying my roses upside down kept the petals curled. Anything that straightened out, I just use a pair of scissors and cut it to make it look round. they all still look fairly Rosy!
I would love to see you dye dried roses With darker tone ❤
Can't wait to check this out. Saving for later! Also. Accidentally entered blog entry but cant get back to the link. Help!
You could try Flotrol to thin the paint rather than glycerin & water.
Try doing the edges with a makeup sponge or an ink pad!
SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you so much!
So glad I found you these tutorials are great! I was waiting to hear about what the glycerin was for, did I just miss it?
It's to prevent the wood from cracking or becoming brittle :-)
❤️
In part 2 where you did the multi color did you only use one color and then it separated? I need to do a 2 tone mint and coral flowers.
Loving the settled flower technique. Does the paint just naturally settle and how long does it take it to settle?
Typically a few days
So fun!! Have you ever tried a dehydrator to dry the flowers faster?
I havent but I know customers have in the past. I just havent found one at a thrift store to snatch up and give it a whirl
Very informative video, thanks a lot. How long do the flowers need to dry for, to be completely dry? for dunked flowers..
Typically around 24 hours is what I found
how many vegetable glycerine do you use?
So, do you not use the Sola dye? Or do you use the dye and paint for highlighting after? I should probably go back through your videos, but I stumbled across this one and now I'm so excited to do this!
Hi Kimberly we are a company that sells our own sola wood flowers and are in no way connected with any other sola wood flower company, hope that helps!
How long does the paint mixture last?
What’s in the spray bottle?
This technique has me praying someone puts some cash in an envelope under the tree for me this Christmas so I can order ALL the flowers 🤣
Hello! It is so great to find your videos. I was a bit worried to give this a try, but now!! Can't wait until tomorrow so I can get my stuff out and get it a try. Thanks for all the info. I didn't quite catch where or how you used the glycerin. Was it in the spray bottle? Thanks for your cheerful attitude and giving me the courage to try this. So do you sell the sola flowers on your website? Is there an advantage to buying from you and not the sola site? (Not trying to be snotty, just asking as I'd like to do business with you since I like your videos and your creativity.)
We would love for you to give our business a try! www.ohyourelovely.com use the code UA-cam30 to get 30% off your first order. Here is another tutorial to check out about the glycerin that should answer all your questions ua-cam.com/video/lLahIHxYpXs/v-deo.html
Awesome videos !! Is it just plain water in the spray bottle?
Yes, it is!
Love your tutorials!!
I'm thinking of doing this for our be wedding.. quick question.. do the flowers need to be raw before dying them.. I want to order a bunch that aren't dyed. It specified if I wanted them RAW . Not sure if they are talking dye free in or primer free?
All of our flowers will come raw (natural nothing on them) unless it is noted as a dyed assortment. I hope that helps!
Good
Please share what type of paint is used.Awaiting your reply
Thinking of buying an air brush to get definition
airbrushing the flowers is so much fun as well!
One question...is the glycerin in the spritz bottle? Or added to the paint? Thanks!
I have done both sometimes glycerin in the paint. sometimes just spray the flowers afterwards with water/glycerin mixture. for this video when I used the spray bottle it was just water but having glycerin in it would be just fine as well
Is the glycerin in the little spray bottle you use?
My little spray bottle only has water in it.
Would putting the paint in a squirt bottle be an effective technique for multi coloring a flower?
You could try it out and see how it goes I havent before but it sounds like it could be a ton of fun!
May be stupid question, but I'm asking anyway. Does the spray bottle have the glycerin in it or water?
not a stupid question! It is just water in the bottle (pretty sure at the point of this video I hadnt played around enough with glycerin to recommend it)
Does your spray bottle have a mixture of water and glycerin?
In this tutorial just water
Is gliserine the same as the softner
I am not sure what softener you referring to but glycerin will make the flowers soft yes.
What does the glycerin do for the process?
A much more in-depth tutorial about glycerin will be coming soon!
When using latex paint, I assume you still use water/glycerine?
You can yes. I would do the same breakdown.... 1:1 water to paint and then 1:8 ration of paint/water to glycerin (one part glycerin, eight parts paint/water mixture)
What’s in the spray bottle? The vegetable glycerine?
Just water. I do use glycerin for one of the last techniques in this video.
Do you find that if you use some glycerin in your paint that the flowers stay soft without having to do a glycerin bath and letting them dry for 24 hours before painting?
I have never done a glycerin bath before. If I am going to use glycerin I almost always add the glycerin into my dye mixture. The only time I dont is if I am airbrushing flowers than I do a spray down of glycerin and water after the flowers are dyed to soften them a bit I never run glycerin through my airbrush.
Can you use RIT Dye on Sola Flowers?
I personally havent. I know people have with mixed results
What does the glycerin do?
the glycerin helps keep the flowers a bit softer since paint can make them a little bit more brittle
Is your spray bottle filled with 1:8 glycerine/water solution?
I eyeball it but it is probably that.
What is in the spray bottle?
Water
Can you order the sola wood flowers pre dyed???
we do offer a growing selection of dyed flowers ohyourelovely.com/collections/dyed-sola-wood-flowers
Was that just water in the spray bottle?!
The little spray bottle only has water in it
What is in the spray bottle? Glycerin water mixture? Ratio?
typically when I use a spray bottle it is just water. But if I do add glycerin I eyeball the measurement just put a splash of glycerin in the water and then shake the bottle every once and awhile
@@OhYoureLovely excellent. Getting my nerve up to do some dyeing.
How much water, glycerin and paint
1 to 1 ratio of water to paint and a 1 to 8 ratio of the glycerin to paint mixture (1 part glycerin 8 parts paint/water)
I think you need to center your camera.
Thanks for your feedback
You're the best!
