There are a lot of good woods out there, beech is probably one of my favorites. They take so long to grow that I don't cut them, but when one comes down, it is a treat. It burns so clean and hot. I had one go down in last May's ice storm and got almost 3 cords out of it. It was close to 40" across at the base.

And it also feeds the squash. You don't stir wood chips into the dirt, just leave a pile. And each squash plant gives you twenty squash at five pounds each. And you can sell those to firewood customers. For like a dollar a pound .

A crew for cleanup is better than 1 for cleanup. And now that your business has evolved to include loading trailers, here's a tip for you. Keeping in mind that you often mention time constraints, load more efficiently by turning 90 degrees or less after scooping a bucket. Keep that in mind when spotting the trailer for loading. Your steering arm and your time clock will thank you after 100 loads. GNI

Hey Chris looks like you may have a split/crack in the single wedge on your splitter just above the center line where there is what looks like a button bolt.
@In The Woodyard Yes I know there is a backing plate. Check timestamp 30:44 and look at the horizontal line on the wedge itself about halfway up from the platform. It could just be a scratch in the coating but it has the jagged line of a crack. I hope I'm wrong.

Only a few sticks of beech mostly oak and some hickory.
