So so funny and enjoyable! You are a warrior Matthew. Braving the cold and the rabid deers, you are a model to us all. Thanks again for sharing your journey.
Thanks Jacque, the rabid reindeers are no comparison to a Canadian grizzly bear! I can’t imagine what it must be like camping in certain areas of Canada 😅.
Great job showing both the peaceful and harsh side of it! And just the right mix of shots/angles, drone, sound, music and narration - comes so close to being there oneself.
I am watching these videos in sequence having just discovered them and subscribed. They are a delight and really show the immense pleasure (and infrequently pain) of cycle touring. The videos are beautifully shot, humorous and engaging making them an absolute pleasure to watch. Your comments about the landscape and your feelings are so well articulated.
I'm close to being lost for words. Brilliant in so many ways. An absolute epic ride with some unbelievable scenery. Superb photography and editing too. Well done lad. Well done. JP
Chapeau! I love these videos especially being as I can’t travel at the moment due to UK restrictions. Great content as always and delightful humour. Thanks Matthew
Jaw dropping scenery and mind blowing ride there .... really "deliciously dangerous" in those section when weather is not on your side and also those tunnels. Look forward to your next episode as always. Thanks.
16:38 I know the feeling, I cycled on E6 for some hundreds km and it’s an absolute nightmare! Trucks, buses, Rv’s and those tunnels, very stressful and not enjoyable at all! I’m planning to go back and reach Nordkapp but by watching you I’m considering to cycle through thousands km of Swedish woods, might be boring but safe. You did fantastic, epic ride Mathew! Waiting for the next episode!
Glad you think the same. I thought the E6 that far north would be quiet but I was wrong! You can always cycle up the Norwegian coast to Narvik. Then take a train to Kiruna in Sweden and cycle the rest through the beautiful Swedish Lapland and up to nordkapp that way. However, you still have to cycle the E6 from Alta to Olderfjord (but bus is an option too).
Absolutely love your content. Just started following you in search for inspiration to go to Norway myself on my first ever bikekpacking adventure. Just ordered myself a bike which have been a nightmare in these times, but I'm thinking piece by piece and I just grab all the tips and tricks I can along the way. Mostly from you. Keep up please! 😇
Another thing.. I always wonder where and how you choose where to camp. What are your experiences with camping along the way, tell us some storys and things to expect. Would be lovely thanks!
Hi Daznmm, In this video on the time maker below I explain how I find a wild camping spot. ua-cam.com/video/J_nHyGJfD2M/v-deo.html Search for this time marker in the description box - "Are their wilderness huts? How do you find wild camping spots?"
Wow - sterling effort. As you said, 200k on a bike is a big ride but with nike packing gear its not fun especially with the main road. Scenery is out of this world - well documented. Can't wait until the next instalment. Thank you for sharing.
Great video. It just shows how hard it is mentally to do these long days in the saddle. I am just planing a jogle ride for September and know I will have tough days. Thinking back to your videos will definitely help me out. At the moment I am sat in my truck at gordano services on the m5 motorway, checking my route again and again, watching these videos for inspiration Looking for accommodation etc...then the fart made an appearance .. I pissed myself laughing 😆.. Nice one.. thanks for using my comment.. Cracking job you have done with this series. Top stuff.... 👌
Shame your wife wasn’t about when you watched the video 😆. I added an extra long one to get you into more trouble!! Jogle sounds fantastic, what route are you taking? Will you hit the highest peaks in each country?
@@matthewnorway ridewithgps.com/routes/36071972 Hi. Only got 10 days to do the route so it's pretty direct. No tunnels so thats good and just the one ferry... its a bit worrying that you seem to spend a fair amount of time hanging around in toilets. 😆 🤣.. my ride won't be as extreme as yours, not by a long way. You sure do have some motivation and determination to complete your rides. Looking forward to the next episode.. kudos..
7:01 That church was buildt after ww2. In fact all the houses in Tromso was burned by the Germans. Even the old churces was burned. The tactic of the germans was that the russians would find no house or living animals on their advance freeing Norway.
Sorry, but Tromsø was not burnt, but Hammerfest (among others in Finnmark) was destroyed in February 1945 And Hammerfest is the northernmost real city.
Another excellent video Matthew - I’m just travelling home after doing the UK coast to coast which at 147 miles pales into insignificance. The weather on Thursday was so bad I’m pretty sure I was on the brink of exposure by the end. Can’t wait for the next instalment. Do you have a Patreon account?
Hi Noel, great to hear you did the UK coast to coast! Cycling is never easy when cold. The month has been very disappointing in Norway and I hear the UK too. But hopefully warmer days are coming soon! I've just setup a Patreon page for my channel and appreciate any support. Lots of great content coming in the next few months. www.patreon.com/matthewnorway
Before the pandemic I cycled the Lofoten archipelago from Tromso to Bodo on my Brompton. It was magical. Next year I would like to do Tromso to Nordkapp. What, in your opinion, is the difficulty delta?
Yeah that E6 part is no joke on a pedal-bike..... about swimming in the cold sea - after - you will feel very warm and comfortable....no need for warm shower.
Swimming in cold lakes is the best thing there is! You will feel like a whole new person when you come out

Wait for next week 😉

Insane trip! I'm stoked for the next video. Maybe turn up the volume of the talking bits a little? :)
Thanks! Which part of the talking bits? The voice over or the actually parts on the bike?
@@matthewnorway Voice over and the bit where you're talking in your tent in the morning.

You are excused 😇you are living in Oslo 😉 you missed to mention that they’re wearing shorts and some go after the calander : 15. Mai.
polynesia? The arctic? lol. Norwegian people like to claim that beaches here look like some tropical lagune, so its spot on.

I'm sure the people who burnt them churches and houses lived with inconceivable guilt afterwards!

313KM on the Main E6 road is not fun on a Brompton. I personally would recommend Bødo to Trondheim it's a much nice route along RV17.
I love these videos. You do keep saying 'we', are you travelling with someone who is always off camera?
On long journeys your bike becomes your travel partner.
14:41 does the cap not have a plastic "plug" which opens the tube? :-)
Yes, but I feel more manly using a knife 😉
