  • Finally we finished the laminate floors and we also did some more insulation work in a new way of filming for our channel.
    Make sure you subscribe to follow our daily lives in this farm!
    Hey to everyone!!
    We are two young adults, Despina 22 and Deivids 23 renovating an old farm house from 1817 in Latvia. Everything in and out of our house has been done by ourselves with no hired help. Soooo far everything is going great and there haven't been any incidents.
    DIY is going to apply to nearly everything in our house. Our budget is tight and that has made us appreciate every "ugly" part of this house and turn it into something new and beautiful.
    We give new life to things that others would throw away!
    In this journey we are not alone! We are starting up our little Farmily and part of it are
    3 goats
    1 Mom Sheep & 2 Baby Sheep
    4 chickens
    1 rooster
    and 2 geese
    Oh yeah and my cat Ivi
    Despite our daily problems we are two young people full of joy and happiness, ready to start a new crazy chapter in our life. It wouldn't be fair to keep this fun for us!
    that's why we want YOU to be also part of our Farmily!!
    Hope you enjoy our video!
    We love our very supportive community!!
    Thank you so much for the support you are giving us. Every view, like, share, subscribe and financial support means a lot to us. Any support is extremely appreciated!

    The walls in the attic that you can see through will bring in water when it rains or snows. Aren't you afraid of ruining your insulation.

      I am worried, I mean I was winter is nearly here again it went through a winter without a problem. But will definitely fix it soon as possible. It also cools the house with wind flowing through a lot. It was built like that to ventilate the clay insulation which we renoved! 😊❤️

    Having the insulation and laminate under your feet as you go to the bathroom must be a huge improvement for you. Love the video from the chest strap. Stay warm.

    Damn man, you should first finish the concrete (steps) to cold room to stabilise the door frame and prevent dealing with the bricks - also drilling the screws for steps will be much easyer. I dont know why you did not finish the right side but im not that far in this videos. That way you can possibly on those two steps use wood - lacquered, or burnt, its up to you and diy, or laminate boards, or ceramic tiles if you want.
    The reason i told you "finish the concrete first" is to prevent you from using foam, polystyrene can be cut and fit tightly without that. Now if you need to swap laminate you will need to deal with that foam.
    Moisture is also creeping in from the floor, if you wonder why you have "so much water" on the windows.

    Deivid are you able to use some kind of a locking hinge, so when you open ceiling trap door it will lock into place, then you wouldn't have to prop it open with a stick? 😀💜

      Thank you! ❤️ For now mouses haven't been in the house for 3 months as I have poison placed which hasn't been touched at all, they hate rockwool so they don't make nests in it. I have sealed all the rooms ceilings so probably they can't smell the food to try to break the plastic under the rockwool, for now it works great. We have to put floors upstairs anyways so that will seal the ceiling even more! 😊

    Hey I hope you guys do the walls up there to now I hope you insulate the walls on that to now before you do your walls out there you got hope they all insulated make sure they're all insulated because if not it's going to get cold in there I don't know where y'all living at their but it's going to be cold I bet you the way y'all dressed like that I'd make sure everything is insulated

  • @kennyanderson404
    @kennyanderson404 3 роки тому

    Cuz you have to cover all them hoes up in the ceiling all them see I seen all them them the roofing that ceiling there whatever it is you have to cover them hoes up because that information is going to get all all moldy and stuff like that

  • @kennyanderson404
    @kennyanderson404 3 роки тому

    Cuz I did this for a living man for fifteen years construction work specially framing houses building houses brand new houses and then we had to insulate them in all that even upstairs you got to do all of that I hated the job but it was a good job cuz I got paid good good money but yeah you got to do all of that hate to tell you that for your stuff won't get wet you should have dried it all in before you did all of that let me try to you know drive to whole in the whole outside right make the roof dried in like put a roof on it first and then you know then go from there the Narwhals that knocked them walls them dang little piece of flat wood for the walls up their flat

  • @kennyanderson404
    @kennyanderson404 3 роки тому

    Cuz you can put that same insulation on the walls that rolled insulation I'll put it on the walls up there all but then you make you got to put something else and you got to put up some Barry on there so I won't get wet something some barrier put it up there first like plastic so when it rains it ain't going to get what you had you said you got holes up there if it's going to rain right now if it rains up there that insulation you put it in there right now it ain't going to last

    Just a temporary fix if you can get cardboard on the walls in the attic it will help insulate . Floor looks good too !

    • @DoBeDiff
      @DoBeDiff  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you! 😊 The open wall with holes in it we will replace it or atleast fix it up this summer so no need for few months. Cardboard might soak the water up and the wood will rot more as it doesn't dry out as fast 🤔

    Are you putting siding on attic wall where all the day light is showing through. This has to be a big source of you cold air, rain and snow getting in? Just curious.

    • @DoBeDiff
      @DoBeDiff  3 роки тому +2

      I mean not for downstairs floor, we have the ceiling sealed for now until upstairs is done the ceiling is water and airtight. But they had walls like this as the insulation was made from clay and moss so needed to be ventilated to dry it out when it gets wet we will make it properly when we do thw roof! For now there is 0 wind blowing in from the ceiling or walls ans no water anywhere 😊♥️

  • @sherae
    @sherae 3 роки тому +1

    In the attic over the storeroom, isn’t there some scrap timber etc. that you could put over the gable wall to fill in the gaps? All of those seem open to the outside so you must get draughts from there into the house.

    • @DoBeDiff
      @DoBeDiff  3 роки тому +1

      Not into the house as we put plastic and seal it, so there is no air coming from ceiling at all! 😊❤️ We will close it all up when we change the roof and do the upstairs

    why did they make the ends of the walls in the attic out of slats of wood?? with all that air coming through?

    • @DoBeDiff
      @DoBeDiff  3 роки тому +2

      For ventilation, the previous insulation was clay with moss which requires to be dried out all the time so need lots of airflow, new insulation doesn't so needs to be closed up ASAP! 🤔❤️
