Man, I had absolutely no interest in these kinds of games and knew nothing about them, but these videos are so damn watchable. Sign of a great channel.
Bard going back and watching your old videos...my friend recently made me a throw pillow out of the Dreadfleet playing mat! One of my prized possessions...and very soft too
Awesome beard, awesome shirt, awesome man. Charisma is just oozing from this gentleman. Im honored to be subscribing to such an asset to the human race.
Och, I take that moral well to heart. I was all set to post a new video a while back but my camera is in a sorry state and broke down after filming. Havent got the funds to replace it at the moment, so I feel well and truly beached, vid-wise. Tell your man Grufflock that I'd be keen to join him on his show, although all this talk of the greater good sounds a bit heretical.
This is a GREAT video! You're very honest, love your reactions - and even more I actually LOVE this game, one of GWs finest board games in a long time Where it suffered... marketing! They just didn't get it right and as a result the sales very lack lustre compared to the quality of the game and the rules Still play my game to this day - and enjoy it as much as I did when i 1st cracked it open
Wow that was cool :D very interesting, that cloth looked very well made and I love Cards that come with collectibles because it shows more detail into everything ! :) Also books that come with it as well, it looked very well made. And all those pieces wow !! Very impressive hope you enjoy putting it together !! :D
@Renzetsu Yes, I agree with you, the sound is a bit low. I hhave trouble sometimes getting a decent volume on these things. I use shonky old windowls live movie maker, and couldnt find a way to boost the sound at all, unfortunately. Still, i'll learn, i suppose.
Only now I do lay my eyes on this latest unboxing. The bloody thing went under my steampowered radar, the UA-cam vortex and its obfuscating veil rendering it hidden as so many dire needed relevations before. Brutally handsome ocean mat I must say, the pretty book on top! Thank you, bard, for a glimpse on the fresh loot.
I love your pirate character in the beginning, and so fitting with your hair and beard. I was actually expecting a lot more views, as you were great in character. Seriously, I think you should send in a tape, or have an online reel to show your ability, so that you can apply for movie work. Good luck.
You SO right about standard stuff. I have played so many games where I've lost or the owners have lost parts that couldn't be replaced, so you will need to buy a second copy.
The cloth and cards art are quite beautiful. Very entertaining (and informative!) un-boxing, you are hilarious. The only criticism I have with this video is the audio was quite low for me. Here's to many more great un-boxings!
Wow! Nice new table cloth dude! 😄 Like you can play games eat food and like never really have to leave the table hahahaha 😄😄 Great game man that game is magnificent fun☺️😊 👍
I would suggest the opposite for all true imperials who come across a possibly heretical text: "Burn it before you Learn it". It would go well with my stack of 'Uncle Emp wants you!' posters.
Do you every consider follow-ups discussing how the game actually plays? I suppose by the time you've played it in enough depth to have an informed opinion, time's moved on a bit.
Well that wouldn't stop me to be honest. I am no slave to time's machinations! The truth is that these days I hardly get half a chance to play half the games I like (and I like less than half of them half as well as they deserve).
You're twice as well off as I am then. I go to my local hobby store and buy all of these games and miniatures that I love. The problem is that, for the most part, I only fantasize about playing the games.
It's like we're twins separated at birth. People laugh at me who know I'm into the comic book/gaming/nerdy stuff but have hardly any other friends who are into that. There's a comic shop I've gone to since 2000 and would never in a million years associate with the other customer/gamers. No social skills. The handful of times I've played random people they've always give all out to win- spammy army lists and outright cheating. I played a couple Dust Warfare tournaments and the tournament organizer was ruling in favor of his buddies each and every time. It was so bad I had to start bringing the rulebook with me to point out his bamboozling. I've been in gaming stores and witnessed actual fist fights erupt between wargamers. Over a stupid game. I totally don't care if I lose, as long as the other player isn't cheating but that's not an easy thing to find. I pretty much buy games with solo play rules. I've got Kingdom Death Monster coming in the mail later this year and I'm really looking forward to that.
ahhh im playing total war war hammer 2 and the galleon graveyard is in that gamer also.. not ever been in a sea voyage yet in that game as its stupid hard to get anything done without being attacked and sacked every turn...
I never had occasion to play this game, I have to admit. Mainly because its very specific in its context. You control these specific ships in this specific circumstance instead of imagining your own adventures with your own fleets like in Man O War. Bit of a step down, I think.
There are two decent scenarios in the game, they let you have the most freedom and the battle can actually go either way. All the other scenarios are so heavily weighed for the other side that you'll see a pattern emerge after the first scenario; the good guys win, the bad guys win the next one, the good guys win the one after that, then the baddies win again, etc... I played through most of the campaign with a friend back when I got Dreadfleet and we gave up on it after seeing how boring and bad the scenarios were. There's no point in playing the campaign at all, the game is at its best with 2-8 players each controlling a single ship and just having a crazy random battle. Not worth its asking price and that is why the game was such a huge flop and majority of the copies remained unsold until they were melted & recycled into Space Marine parts by GW.
sir since you love the warhammer (good man by the way) you should take a look at forge worlds horus heresy book 1 and/or models. Also my mate (who is a English version of you) Grufflock has asked you to join him on his podcast, this must happen for the greater good :) The moral of this comment is, more vids = better youtube
my apologies by greater good i meant the totally none heretical kind of good.....good for the emperor and what not. Shame about the camera as well hopefully that can be cleansed with holy fire so it may once again work correctly, though i feel your corruption is making me wanting to try many board games and RPG items, blast you
I have spent a little time thinking on this and I have a top five. 1. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd edition 2. HeroQuest, even though its warhammer connection is tentative at best. It uses some of the terminology and that's about it. 3. Mordhiem 4. Warhammer Quest, a very good dungeon game. 5. Warhammer Dark Omen computer game, one of the few to understand the range of a cannon. On the off-chance that Heroquest id disqualified for not being a warhammer game, no. 5 would be Warhammer Fantasy battles even though I hardly played it, I always loved the pictures in White Dwarf.
Dylan Price I never got to play Dreadfleet after all that. It looks good; plenty of character in those ships. As for Warhammer roleplay, I say don't go forward. Go backward. It has never been better than the second edition.
Man, I had absolutely no interest in these kinds of games and knew nothing about them, but these videos are so damn watchable. Sign of a great channel.
I agree. I'm the same way.
this guy is the perfect dm fir any game.
Bard going back and watching your old videos...my friend recently made me a throw pillow out of the Dreadfleet playing mat! One of my prized possessions...and very soft too
Oh my god, everything is this box is breathtakingly beautiful. Crying shame they don't sell it anymore.
Awesome beard, awesome shirt, awesome man. Charisma is just oozing from this gentleman. Im honored to be subscribing to such an asset to the human race.
"That feels nice, you can wear that to bed..." Love this guy!
Man 'O' War was the best. I stand by this assertion, which admittedly may be tinged with nostalgia. It still has yet to be bettered.
Och, I take that moral well to heart. I was all set to post a new video a while back but my camera is in a sorry state and broke down after filming. Havent got the funds to replace it at the moment, so I feel well and truly beached, vid-wise.

woah the bard was already a legend of the youtube seas i never knew, VERY COOL REVIEW BTW
This is exactly what you want your Dungeon Master to look and sound like.
I love to look at small old videos like this and see just how far many UA-camrs have come!
Not too far in my case. This video was filmed only seven meters away from where I sit!
Quality reply! You're a genius Bard!
Well done friend - it's great to see you're back with the unboxing videos. Keep up the good work and I hope to see many more!
I'm sure you have all these ships all painted up, I would love to see them, some kind of grand unveiling!
This is a GREAT video!

That fabric mat was certainly a surprise!
Glad to see back and with another great Unboxing.

The more I watch you game videos the more I want to get into this, but I know that I would lack the patience to put together and paint everything.
One of the most fun and underrated games of GW
Please can you do a Blood Bowl unboxing!!!
I would suggest the opposite for all true imperials who come across a possibly heretical text: "Burn it before you Learn it". It would go well with my stack of 'Uncle Emp wants you!' posters.
chaos dwarfs and the beautiful cloth mat, I wish they still sold it :)

Kudos for the referential sentence structure.
You're twice as well off as I am then. I go to my local hobby store and buy all of these games and miniatures that I love. The problem is that, for the most part, I only fantasize about playing the games.
+Philhelm, you and me both, brother. It's a good thing that I love painting the minis so much, because I have no one to pay anything against.
It's like we're twins separated at birth.

Would love for you to do a Space Hulk Unboxing. Provided you are willing to dish out the imperial sheckles.
Love these informational videos. Thanks man :)
please make more videos.
His beard is epic.
ahhh im playing total war war hammer 2 and the galleon graveyard is in that gamer also.. not ever been in a sea voyage yet in that game as its stupid hard to get anything done without being attacked and sacked every turn...
I wish I had bought this back in the day! I loved Man O War. Have you played it yet Bard? How is it?
I never had occasion to play this game, I have to admit. Mainly because its very specific in its context. You control these specific ships in this specific circumstance instead of imagining your own adventures with your own fleets like in Man O War. Bit of a step down, I think.
That's exactly why I dislike Dreadfleet. Man O War is before my time but I wish I could've played it.

Compared to Man o' War, it's rubbish.
Honestly I'm stunned you haven't tried to show everyone that bloody Castle Ravenloft box you've got behind you.
And now we have vampire coast in total war Warhammer 2
Well .... Without any boat combat but aw well
But, whilst the Imperialist tell you to "burn before you Learn", the sacred texts from the Halls of Karag Dum say"Buggerit. gimme Bugman's"
Unboxing with The Beard
ooh oooh dwarf!

I assume this was a reissue of Man o'War
Nay, it is a completely different stand-alone game.
Hey Bard, which are your top 5 favourite Warhammer games?
Great vids btw
if you want a reply you should probs ask on a more recent vid
I have spent a little time thinking on this and I have a top five.
1. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd edition
2. HeroQuest, even though its warhammer connection is tentative at best. It uses some of the terminology and that's about it.

+BardicBroadcasts okay cool. thanks for the reply. how would you rate dreadfleet? also recommendations for warhammer roleplay going forward?
Dylan Price I never got to play Dreadfleet after all that. It looks good; plenty of character in those ships. As for Warhammer roleplay, I say don't go forward. Go backward. It has never been better than the second edition.
Did you ever play it?
yes thank you
You look so handsome
Thank you for saying so :)
Don't like cards?? Then play Advanced Heroquest and roll for everything.
