Thank you for this awesome tutorial. I followed your instructions and laid each block out on a separate design board and did what you suggested by starting with the 4-patch 1st. I did all 5 blocks 4 patches before going to the next step. Like you said, this put less pieces out to confuse me. Then did the 1/2 square triangles pieces laying them on top and pinning them one block at a time. I normally would chain sew them all at the same time. But this way made it less confusing. Fabric 9, Fabric 7 ... keeping all the fabrics labeled and finished blocks labeled is essential since so many of these neutral fabrics are similar.
