I never would've thought there was this much of a "backstory" behind steel vengeance. It really makes me wonder about other cedar fair themes like Ghost rider or Leviathan
Late reply, but Silver Bullet at Knott’s has a backstory! (Calico/Ghost Town lore is actually weirdly extensive, but very few people talk about it.) Here’s a word-for-word transcript of the sign outside the ride: “There was once a time, not that long ago, that demons and evil spirits were known to stalk and terrorize the good settlers and natives of the west. As legend has it, the only way to silence these demons was with the powerful shot of a Silver Bullet. The only source of these supernatural bullets was the famous Silver Bullet Mine located in parts north of the quaint town of Calico. The mine was owned and operated by a recluse known only as ‘Just Jacob.’ The mine turned out miraculous bullets just as fast as its residents could use them up, but the demons grew wise to the source of their demise and descended upon the town in force to put an end to the production of these magical Silver Bullets. But Jacob was clever and devised a contraption to outsmart the demons. He created powerful ore cars that were suspended beneath a floating track. The ore could then be extracted and raced through tunnels and caverns as gunslingers sat perched on benches protecting the precious cargo. Their arsenal replenished, the citizens of Calico soon rid the town of the menacing demons. Today, Silver Bullet calls you to confront your own demons. Ready, aim, scream!”
Man I wish Cedar Point had a couple of TVs in the queue playing this story. It is so interesting, and most guests don’t know about it. After watching this, I now know what the name “Steel Vengeance” means!
The fact that the backstory is not only engaging, but takes the rides and history of the Frontier Town area of the park and uses it amazingly and in a way that makes so much satisfying sense is beautiful. I love this!
I loved all the story elements in the queue for Steel vengeance. Experienced it for the first time yesterday. I’m a big western fan so I enjoyed everything about Frontiertown. The level of theming feels just about perfect. Love learning how the overall story involves ALL the rides past and present.
I love how kings island took this theory and even further expanded upon it. I think as far as backstories go, the new flight of fear theming just outside of the exit ties so much together it’s crazy. From what we know, half of kings island, copperhead strike, twisted Timbers, and frontier town at CP are all interconnected storyline and universe wise.
Byer-gerd? How about Bo-ra-gard. The name comes from one of the trains on Maverick, which precedes this backstory. The question is what to make of the other 5 Maverick Trains ( Brett, Brent, Ben, Bart, and Sam). Perhaps aliases Maverick used in all his shady escapades on his way to Frontier Town???
Having been at cedar point the entire summer and riding steve multiple times, I’m glad I got to see the full story explained in one video and not in a bunch of signs. Props for this awesome vid
I remember the teasers for this ride around the park were incredible! They had long stories hidden along walls in frontier land and character summaries years before steel vengeance's opening. Cedar point always finds a way to tease frequent guests
I knew a decent amount of this from the videos and stories came out at announcement time, but when I went last year lines were only 30 minutes for this ride so I never saw any of the back stories in the switchbacks. Pretty impressive. Very different than usual, but awesome video.
This was great! I enjoyed Cedar Point's frontier town, but now it even that much cooler to me. I love how the rides tell a story. Mind blown! I will never see it the same again. Thank you for sharing from one coaster junkie to another. And I would enjoy more videos like this. :D
Please do more theming of ride videos like this one. It was great. I read some of the sings while I was there to get the story, because I came from out West to visit.
This should be a feature length film. Amazing video! Makes me wonder if cedar point made this for u to unveil! This is spectacular! What’s next? A digger coaster? Also, is Woodstock express in the story? 😂
Make this game with completely different genre. So when people think the game lore based from random mythology, they will surprised it's just literally based from rollercoaster lore.
I feel like there was a moment where Cedar Point was afraid to "theme" anything, and their promotional stuff was always geared towards thrill seeking. Personally, I would love for them to dive even deeper into theming at CP. Their Frontier area is already fantastic, and it feels like they're leaning back into theming the front of the park medieval again (also there is something going on there with rides named after birds lol) There are new plans at this point for them to retheme the coast (ex-wicked twister area) back into the boardwalk which I'm also very excited for. I was a really big Disney Parks fan but lately they have really gone downhill. At this point I'm ready to invest all my love back into my home park!
I think it would be AWESOME if you looked into the area 72 at kings Island. With the addition of it's new ride, Orion, it is bound to be a storm of a talk here. Not to mention the mysterious gems like the bat or the beast(another Amazingly, mysterious ride). I'd enjoy to see that! Also, amazing video! I'm new here and I enjoyed it!
I got a theory here! There is a board in Orion’s queue that has hidden messages on it about The Beast, Banshee, and Mystic Timbers! I think there is a hidden story in Kings Island itself. It’s about a government facility that is called Area 72. They contain the mystical and paranormal events that happen in the surrounding area. According to the board, there are footprints where The Beast is that don’t match any living life form, ghosts and ghouls that haunt the abandoned church where Banshee is, and mystical monsters that lurk around the Miami River Lumber Company. Area 72 might be a facility that controls the meteorological events of Orion. But I think thats not their main focus. They are there to observe all the strange occurrences that happen in the area around the base. Orion’s meteorological events are a cover up for what’s really happening behind the scenes! The Bat and Adventure Express could also have something to do with this. But hey, that’s just a theory, a coaster theory!! And cut!
This video is incredible. If this series continues on (and it should because it is amazing) could you investigate the hidden theme of a British coaster
Holy crap, how did you learn all of this? And yeah now the name Steel Vengeance actually makes sense! Awesome video dude! I'd love to see one of these for Copperhead Strike or any other coaster
8:50 I honestly think if that rumored gerstlauer coaster gets built and it goes where the antique cars are, the theme will likely be expanded on the Steel Vengeance storyline
the carowinds connection is kind of weird bc the time period of copperhead strike's theme is wildly removed from steel vengeance's. steel vengeance takes place in the era of steam powered machinery whilst copperhead strike's trains being late 30s/40s era pickup trucks implies a considerable time gap, likely around 40-60 years difference. still, the lore of steel vengeance is more detailed than i thought itd be. i'd like to hear ur take on cannibal's theme at lagoon. theres nothing official but a discussion about it would be interesting, as the theming elements below the main ride structure are actually fairly detailed and well-made but what the story of the ride actually is is kind of up in the air
Omg imagine if cedar fair is building its coasters with theming that actually connects to other new coasters and then they make a movie or book or whatever out of it. that would be kinda dope
1:30 why is that half-inversion coming down from the turnaround under the lift shaking so much - this can't be good!!! Looks like it's over 2 feet of movement near the top
there is I think more to this, Digger might play a role in the new Gertslauer (if it is indeed coming to CP and being put in Frontiertown). need to do some searching here on YT to find the video someone put out that makes sense and now with the BLASTER signs with digger popping up... its kind of coming together.
that's a pretty convoluted story. they could have gone with Mean Streak ruled Frontier Town until 2007 when Maverick took over. After 9 years, Mean Streak was sick of playing second fiddle so he started eating right, hit the gym and 2 years later, came back with a vengeance.
I actually prefer intensity of air time for some reason, so it may be possible for me to like Intimidator 305, El Toro and Top Thrill Dragster more so am I weird? El Toro does have intense valleys so yeah. But I still prefer Steel Vengeance over Maverick still just because Steel Vengeance is taller and faster so the air time a bit better
I got an idea for a Power Rangers series based off Emotional Roller Coasters and the story is very different. Maverick, born Beauregard, was the first born and first son of 4 (the others being Jackson "Blackjack", Helena [Hypersonic XLC], and Laurel [Skyrider]). He was popular, but was caught up in dreams of treasure and gold (notably of King Cobra). On one such adventure, they adopted an Orphan named Chess Watkins. Jackson and Chess fell in love and couldn't stand his brother's daydreams anymore. Helena and Laurel were sent after them, but were killed in White Water Canyon. Beauregard grew heartless and corrupt, running away from all he knew. He accidentally came across Iron near a quaint village called Frontier Town under the new name of Vikrum, but most called him Maverick. The sheriff, "Mean Streak" (never gave him a real name) and his deputy Kate "Wildcat". Due to his success and news of gold in the Yukon, provided by Ezra "Mighty Canadian Minebuster". The duo went after the gold that was guarded by Ziz [Yukon Striker]. Maverick took the gold, despite Ezra's warning, causing a string of bad luck (Ezra was reassigned Yukon Striker, WildCat and Mean Streak were decommissioned, with Wildcat stealing his parts to become one of the rangers during the show).
During that time, Chess and Blackjack had made a name for themselves in Mexico and met a tinker named Wyatt. They would cross the border into Battle Mountain, CA where they created a Megazord. However, his work caused a disturbance, awakening these ancient monsters called Boma that had been sealed by Indian Braves thousands of years earlier. He cut off his hand in hopes it would deter them. Instead, it created a demon named Bellatrix, the reincarnation of Son of Beast (the actually Son of Beast Android ended up being used for Valravn). They attacked Frontier Town, killing Mean Streak. However, Wildcat had disappeared some time before and was replaced by Micheaux Goubuster as Mean Streak's new deputy. Micheaux is promoted to Sheriff, with Maverick having to up to the plate as well. Along with Diamondback, Blue Streak, and Ghost Rider, they band together to protect Frontier Town from the Vengeance Trio and Boma Monsters.

That is genius!
lol! I wonder if CP is planning that already...
It could be connected to dinosaurs alive.
ngl but do you think that Digger was just a tease for Forbidden Frontier, I mean It's on the former spot of Dinosaur's Alive.
I never would’ve thought that one of the most badass roller coasters in the world would be nicknamed SteVe.
