Stunning. I set this piece to continuous loop for hours...never tire of hearing the tonal and harmonics come together. Delius is one of the most underated composers ever in my humble opinion. Thank you for posting.

Just lovely, this is the piece of music that turned me on to the music of Delius 30 years ago. It always stops me in my tracks. As has been said he was a true original.

I listen to this piece every night before I go to sleep. It is the perfect way to end to end the day. Forget Sominex....

No one could transmit the music of Delius better than Sir Thomas Beecham. Of the many recordings, this one is surely perfection! - John Austin, Australia

The opening melody was played at my wedding on an organ 45 years ago.

I love Delius. And I remember I heard this yesterday when I was sitting watching the sky in the car with one of my cats. She even stopped to listen for a moment. :-)

This seems inspired by something other than this world.

This is one of those works Eric Fenby helped Delius bring to paper during the final months of Delius' life when Delius was so sick he could no longer move to compose by himself. Fenby's selflessness helped Delius bring some seven more works into the world before Delius' passing. Thank you for the upload.

You nailed it much better than me--"underplayed" is the better choice of words, so thank you. I could play Delius all of my waking hours and never grow tired of this master. Cheers.

Memories of East Anglia almost 50 years ago - still fresh.

Actually I believe Delius has always been and continues to remains underrated. Otherwise we'd see more performances of his work. Again, my opinion only.

HOW LUCKY YOU STRING PLAYERS ARE TO GET TO COME TOGETHER AND PLAY SUCH GLORIOUS MUSIC, IT IS SOOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL I'M ALMOST TEMPTED TO CHUCK MY PIANO OUT THE WINDOW, AND START OVER ON THE VIOLIN, OR SOMETHING I COULD PLAY IN AN ORCHESTRA !!!
THOUGH THAT CLARINET AT THE END IS AWFULLY NICE TOO !!!

It was Max Adrian who played Delius in Ken Russell's wonderful documentary.

I like your style Sir. I agree 100%--Satie is another hidden gem (like Delius) whose works don't receive their due respect and attention.

The rumour is that we are playing this lovely piece in our orchestra in 2012. This second violin hopes so.

i like your combination of Delius and Parrish. It's strange cause a lot of people find their art sentimental, honeyed and usually i can't stand sentimental and honeyed artist or the idealized art of preraphaelites painters, and certainly i don't like sentimental music. But there is a quality in the harmonies of Delius and in the colors and light of Parrish that is simply beautiful and is beyond mere sentimentality, and they are despite of my tastes, between my favorite artists.

The whole opera is worth checking out, though the libretto is bad even by normal opera standards!
