I really appreciate the fact that you are exploring the often overlooked rural Spain and, especially, that you are using celtic background music! (instead of the more stereotyped "flamenco music" which, as a matter of fact, is only characteristic of southern Spain). Keep up the good work!
@Paseos por Madrid True! I was not referring specifically to Toledo in this instance; however, you will agree with me that (sadly) Toledo is not yet as popular or well known outside Spain as it ought be.

When they talk about the Middle Ages we always think of castles, tournaments and princesses. But that is a much later Middle Age, from 1200 to the Renaissance. But the beginning of the Middle Ages, when the Western Roman Empire disappeared in 476 AD, It was a very dark time. The collapse of Rome ended with everything that organized the world at that time. Engineering, architecture, roads, laws, military organization... everything disappears with Rome. In Europe, Roman cities and towns are abandoned, The population is dispersed throughout the forests. There is no agriculture, food is scarce and barbarism spreads. In less than 20 years, all the wisdom of Rome no longer exists. Superstition replaces the laws. It was an authentic apocalypse. The first 400 years of the Middle Ages were the Darkness ages. It must have been a terrifying and fascinating time.

Much appreciated John! We work hard to match the music the very best we can with our limited music available to us
