The Romans arrived in Hispania (today Spain) in 218 BC. The Roman Empire collapsed in 476 AD. Therefore, the Romans were in the Iberian Peninsula, today Spain and Portugal, for about 600 years. When Rome disappeared Germanic barbarian tribes entered Hispania in 508 after Christ, and occupied the country until the arrival of the Muslims from North Africa, who defeated the Visigoths in the battle of Guadalete, in 711 after Christ. That began the conquest of Hispania. In 722, in the north of Spain, King Pelayo, destroys a Muslim expedition and begins the reconquest of the territory, which will last 8 centuries. In 1492, the Catholic kings, Isabel and Fernando, take the last Muslim fortress , Granada, with the surrender of the Moorish king Boabdil. That same year of 1492, Columbus set sail from the port of Palos, in Huelva, and on October 12, 1492, he reached the American coasts. I put this little history lesson, to that they have perspective of what you visit, and see n the centuries behind. And very pretty baby! :-)
You can see the fall of Granada and the rise of Spanish empire in this videos,of old spanish serie:

Bienvenidos a España. Following and loving your journey. My husband and I are planning a 7wk long vacation through Spain starting and ending in Lisbon this May.
I'd love it if you could mention your favorite attractions and eateries.
Thank you for sharing!
Wishing you lots and lots of beautiful adventures.
La Cuava in the neighborhood Santa Cruz was amazing
Sounds like a fun trip!
I always like eating out wherever the locals go for a bite, they usually know the area better than I do. Seville has thousands (literally) of restaurants, and we found most of them to be pretty good. Just stay away from anything TOO touristy (pictures of the food on the menu, everything in English etc.)
The narrow streets had a defensive function to hinder the occupation by enemy forces during the reconquest.
I am surprised to have found such a small but adorable channel. Spain for me will always be the love of my life, and it is one of the most important nations in world history (on a par with England and France), this means that every corner of the country is endowed with magnificent architecture and legacy.
I recommend that you go to the north, specifically to Asturias, Leon, Salamanca, Burgos, Zaragoza, Galicia or Huesca, because the climate is much less arid and you don't feel the sun as much, apart from the fact that it is very beautiful to see the beautiful green meadows.
I really appreciate these types of videos, because they seem honest and entertaining, and I am very glad that you are enjoying Spain a lot (and that you have not seen even 1/4 of what it has to offer), keep it up guys!
Thank you so much Matt! We would love to make our way up to the North of Spain! We appreciate your enthusiasm for our small channel. Thank you for the kind message!
5:24 I love Spanish abuelas!❤❤❤
Oh man, us too! We have been spoiled!
Nice video! Just one thing, you don't say "AlHambra" as in Spanish the "h" is mute. So, you literally say "Alambra" for the correct pronunciation.
Gracias Marcos!
La Alhambra quiere decir castillo rojo un saludo y bonito vídeo adiós.
