Huge fan of O'Keeffe's "Shovel down your bland rations. Drink your coffee-flavored sludge. Sure, it sucks - but that's being human." line... It's very memorable
Despite a singular encounter I instantly fell in love with O Keeffe as a character listening to his dialogue and wish we got to see so much more of him. A content pessimist, seeing all the dreary wretchedness of human life and accepting it. While one might think his pessimism would make him all too wiling to go through with coral release and be free it ironically opened his eyes to all the issues with release.
*hits coral pipe* O'Keefe realized too late that he didn't appreciate the simple things and how they make you who you are. It's why he got cold feet right at the end of AllMind's plan, he was looking for an easy answer to end a perceived misery, and symbiosis sounded like a golden answer, but the more he committed, the more he realized becoming sentient goop wouldn't solve why he was miserable. He knew he'd just come to find his new life equally boring had he not changed as a person.
of all the characters in this story this is the one that hits the hardest for me. it's so relevant to the cold purposelessness I feel and the growing conviction that I should face the misery of living head on rather than making it worse with the empty highs of digital entertainment
Despite how shitty life is, he would rather continue living it instead of being part of Coral Release.. which changes the nature of humanity forever. He really chose misery over a new unknown paradigm. I respect him for that
I was really endeared to O’Keeffe, he IS the pessimist, no doubt about that, but much like real people who find themselves depressed and jaded he actually cares a great deal about life beneath the surface. The way Ayre says that he, “lives for the way things are,” I think is really powerful. Powerful in that we could all learn to stop and accept where we are in life no matter how bad we may feel about it, acceptance makes it easier to keep moving forward, and keep being human.
He’s a pessimist with a good heart. Friends with Rusty, and a mentor to Pater. Pater actually starts crying during your fight with him after this mission, because you killed O’Keefe. Hits hard. One of the many reasons why I prefer the Liberator ending

I really wish we actually knew what his baggage was other than his arena data. Feels like he was meant to be an ally only if you went ALLMIND and it would’ve been cool to go against him after a couple classified sorties together for AM.
Man, doing this fight for the first time and hearing all his dialogue, I didn’t really feel all that much for O’Keeffe. He was just another corporate skull to add under my belt; but when I heard him say that line about Rusty after beating him, my heart broke. Guy can’t have been all that bad considering he thought Rusty was pretty cool, just like we do. It’s amazing how that one line of dialogue completely changed my perception on the character and made him that much more memorable.
I like to think in the liberator of rubicon ending this guy sees the possibility of change, a way to drive the corps off rubicon and have a better life. One can dream, I suppose.
So much questions regarding ALLMIND. A sidestory DLC would be nice. Would it be safe to assume that it was made by the RRI? But nothing of that sorts is indicated in the battle logs.
@@fahholliday5374 Walter did say it is RRI vessel. But what weirds me out is how it's not mentioned in any Battle Log nor was Walter or Carla are aware about it. It begs the question then, was this created before RRI collapsed or was this created after?
I would imagine given Allmind can manipulate coral... she could easily be another C-Wave mutation that was plucked out and harnessed into an AI. Or maybe even an artificial pulse mutation induced in the Coral since she doesn't identify with Ayre and the other "native" Coral entities.
@@zchen27 If I had to guess, it's probably a C Wave Mutation born from Dolmayan's and Seria's contact long ago. The massive influx of coral that would've been scattered along thanks to the Fires of Ibis prompted the mutation itself as it became orphaned thanks to Dolmayan 'going clean', allowing it to hop onto the next available network in the original AllMind system.
i always thought the endings were always so painfully biased towards siding with ayre, even though burning the coral is something id side with every day of the week
Watching your videos, seems you favor the Alba series of frame parts? Its rather my favorite as well, hard to stray away from it when tinkering with any new bipedal build.
"That's right. Slurp your goyslop, eat the bugs and be happily literally wageslaving for corporations, bro. You will own nothing and you will be happy. That's what being humans's all about." That's about summing up O'Keeffe's character.
Not really big fan of becoming living mist whatever stuff that inhabits an old rusted war machine that is located butt-fuk-nowhere. Also you can't really enjoy anything that we humans can when you become living mist. No big macs, buttsecks or video games for you.
This all is playing with Coral and of course, Coral Release as "only" alternative to a corporatist, loveless life full of meaningless toil. I'm sure i'd end up defending the current, fucked up state of our world, if the alternative was something as final, dehumanizing (literally) and wide scale as coral release.
I don't know why the "shovel down your bland rations, drink your coffee flavored sludge " it really hit home

I think something about it speaks to how most people feel, especially in a world of constant exposure. Everything sucks, we’re tired, but that’s life
