- Katara had big snow boots to fill being the last remaining Waterbender in the Southern Tribe. However, it was only through leaving her tribe and exploring the Four Nations with Aang, Sokka, and Appa that she truly began to master her skills and go beyond the expectations of what it meant to be a waterbender!

i think its because hama taught herself and only had one opportunity every month or so and katara had the full moon, a teacher, the ability to bend invisible water, and her friends depended on her.
@@Kikkerv11 that's why hama sat in prison for a long time before being able to bloodbend right? That's why in the invasion of the northern watertribe, not a single waterbender was bloodbending right? Bloodbending is a feat just like any other sub-bending class.

Lowkey, Katara saved the world. Since she's the one who set Aang free.
Yup, not to mention she played a *huge* part in Sozin’s comet. Honestly the whole gaang saved the world, with one person missing from the gaang during Sozin’s comet who knew how it could go.
Actually, Sokka making her mad in the very first episode eventually led them to stop the 100 year war
Actually it was technically the Air Nomads. They told Aang to leave, which got him into the storm. Then Aang was forced to put himself in the iceberg
Noah J no monk gyatso said himself that he would protect aang that’s what he said before he went to find aang not knowing he left. And when aang left that was before the air nomads were gonna take him to learn waterbending.
She also revived him after Azula shot him with lightning
Can't believe that in the first book she couldn't even make a wave, and now she learned BLOODBLENDING.
Although bloodbending isn’t really the greatest example of a powerful bender. Maybe a ruthless one, but a true powerful bender knows when to stop before they lose themself. Katara never wanted to use bloodbending.
Also first try
Blaze The Wolf wow that’s actually a great analysis👏🏾
She did on the first try too,and also resisted hamma when she used it against her. I think she could have learnt how to bloodbend without the full moon.
no not today agree, she definitely could've learnt that if she tried. Probably that whole "bending without hands" thing, too.
considering she was THAT strong when she was pretty young, shes pretty much one of the strongest water benders of all time
Yup
I'm just gonna say that even if azula wasn't in her right frame of mind she was still very powerful and KNEW WHAT SHE WAS DOING, but katara still beat her
Also the comet upgraded her firebending so she's a lot stronger then when they were fighting in the cave
And katara didint even blood bended her
Nah. Yes indeed Katara might still win. But y'all don't think.
Why is azula.such a problem...... it's not her bending....it's her mind. Her pure strategies , tactics and tricks......which is why even Zuko was able to have the upper hand against her.
@@clonnlijinhlong2713 The thing is Katara’s emotional control gives her an edge over Azula regardless. Yes, Azula’s way more strategic than Katara. But Katara’s way more resourceful, in control of her emotions, and thinks faster on her feet than Azula.
@@jungsoojung4730 I would describe Katara as in tune with her emotions, not in control of them. Azula has been training in combat her entire life, Katara didn't learn water bending just to fight. I do think Katara is a better bender, but Azula's mind for combat and precision bending makes it a tough ask on comet day. She did kinda beat her at her best in Ba Sing Sei though.
I also realised how they physically became bigger as the show went on. Thats a nice detail
Amin 😱 I just realize, season 1 and 2 Ang matured physically, and Katara got taller. And in season 3 Soka got taller and Katara matured in the face
As you can see in waterbending scroll episode, Katara's body look so skinny, my brother even said she was look like a boy on that episode.
They are all growing kids/teenagers. They are supposed to grow quite a lot even in a span of a year and I'm glad the animators incorporated that detail

I like how Kataras skills grew over the course of book one. She really seemed to get better from episode to episode and was gradually more and more included in fighting. And she managed that without having a teacher, just from practicing and learning together with Aang. It's really inspiring
My favorite quote is from Katara. “I don’t know if it’s because I’m too weak to do it, or I’m strong enough not to.”
It should be emphasized that she defeated a firebending prodigy during Sozin's comet
azula's mentally not stable to outwit a fight. she's just bursting through sheer will and anger. If she's in her prime, being the cunning and powerful fighter we know that she is, im very much sure the outcome would have come out differently. not to mention that she has just fought with zuko earlier.
corn dog barely. Y’all overhype Azula and then downplay everyone elses skill as if Azula is this all powerful being. Katara and Toph both could defeat her.

She almost killed a master 😂. She's probably the strongest water in the series even against yakone's family in her prime. She may not be able to duel them with bloodbending but we can know she can nullify the effects. Her combat style is unlike any other water bender. She's fast like fire bender, immovable like earth, but is filled with compassion like air.
This is so true
I think she could win them easily bc it's clearly stated that blood bending works only on people that have a weaker bending than the user (katara's being immune against hama's blood bending, Amon immune against Tarloq's, Aang entering the avatar state to become stronger than Yakone's) so yeah she could win against them.

The relationship she had with Korra was one of the things I liked the most in the legend of Korra. To see Katara in her old days and being a wise woman confronting a rebel teenager was a whole cicle of taking me back to Katara in her teenage years not being able to control her emotions
Katara was just so strong. She is responsible for the avatar cycle not ending by bringing Aang back to life with her healing.

BuT kAtaRa iS TOo MoTherLy tO Be StRoNg fEmAle chAraCtER!!!
I'm glad that's she's warm and kind as well as strong proving it's not either or
I think she counts as a prodigy, even if some people aren't willing to admit it. Sure, her skills at the first episodes weren't anything special, but that's only because she had to learn them herself. But when she finally got a reference (the waterbending scroll), she was able to learn well and we saw the rapid improvement in her skills (e.g. being unable to create a wave in "The Waterbending Scroll" and then easily doing that in "Bato of the Water Tribe"). Once she got a master, I assume it only took her a few days to be in the level she was in at Book 1's season finale. And she only got better from there. She even learned bloodbending just a few minutes after the concept was introduced to her. If she really wanted to stay on that bloodbending path, she probably could've bypassed the full moon restriction earlier than Amon's family.
Katara is interesting because she's a prodigy at learning. Unlike Toph, Azula, Iroh, and Hama she never creates a new technique, but she learns them extremely fast and can take skills beyond the level her teachers did. This explains why in a year she came so far when her entire life pre-Aang only allowed her basic control, and why she literally leaps to Zuko level after meeting Paaku.
@@craiglatta1351 the only 2 benders that inveted a subbending were Toph and Hama, Azula and Iroh did not invited anything, what are you saying lol

@Jang-geum Seo She defeated Azula twice one on one. You could claim that Azula was a little tired after fighting Zuko in the Agni Kai but in Ba Sing Se Katara wiped the floor with her.
Because she lived in the war times, she was "forced" to learn some massive water bending skills to survive. Still, she is the best waterbender ever.
It's more bad writing than a accomplishment. It's unrealistic for her to be master level in under a year while other characters trained there whole lives.
@@TheKenganKing People do amazing things in war. It's not bad writing that rolling around with the most powerful bender in the world fighting other extremely power benders that Katara gained the skills necessary to survive. I.D.O.S Sokka getting trashed on cactus juice still makes me laugh 😂 Katara had the patience of a saint

I never noticed how they actually got older during the show. That’a cool
It's like Edward elric in fma brotherhood. You gotta really pay attention to notice it.

the mark of a great show is the amount of tiny details

Greetings from Brazil, love this show
yeah same😭
Ive never watched a single episode but im watching this lol
@@alicia-hd2cs give it a try, you should def. watch it
I think that’s called waterbending but ok
@@alicia-hd2cs its a masterpiece, should give it a shot

Don't underestimate the turtle duck, it did manage to get a few hits on the fire lord.

I am overjoyed by the level of detail in this show.
Katara in every fight: I’m a healer, but...
nope. she always wanted to be a figther, not a healer. watch the series so you'll know.
I’m a healer, so let’s make injuries to heal
@@negatron5514 that’s kind of the joke
So, anyway...
Best healer and a master fighter at that, she's op
I would love to see Zuko's progression in firebending , because they don't really mention it , but he evolves so much , to the point of doing massive fireballs when taking on Aang and Katara, plus his techinque get's really refined , to the point of even tought he might have less fire power then Azula ( Im not really sure ) he takes a clear advantage at their fight , is such shame they nerfed him Heavelly in Korra.
he didn't get nerfed he just old!
He also starts to draw from all the different styles of bending. Just like Iroh was trying to teach him.
I like suko i wish he could be my boyfriend 😎😎😎😎
@@bibbobella He could redirect lightning even though he never actually learnt to bend it
He never became a firebending master though like katara did with water. Azula was a master.
From fight, to flight for the sake of her 'friend'
Don't you mean, crush/boyfriend/etc?
"Y e s"
I appreciate this channel so much, how even a decade later they still go in depth about the show since there’s so many layers to it
Katara as always and still is my favorite character. Even in "Legends of Korra"' She was a very powerful and skilled bender. She was never to weak or whiny. She was emotional and honest. She looked after her brother despite being younger, and wouldn't stand for sexism. Which I found it funny when she flat out called Sokka sexist. You wouldn't ever hear that in a kids show. "Avatar the last air bender", was and is different from all the other kids shows. Going to lengths that you didn't see in a lot of shows targeted for children. However, I think that's the charm of ATLA. Katara and her bending came a long way between season one of ATLA, to the first season of LOK.
Ikr!!
To the first season of LOK? Well of course lol shes like ages years old, that's her whole life!
She is my favourite character too you now
yes my favorite character too! generous, brave, trustworthy. "i will never ever turn my back on people who need me" is my fav quote of the series and it's from her.
She's mine too. I watched Avatar when I was 14 so I related to her a lot, especially her temper.
Anyone else realized that as the series went on ALL the characters voices got a LOT less squeaky?
Probably because they grew into the roles over time and got better/directional changes
Especially Aang's
It could be because they grew more confident in the series. Nor the voice actors but the characters. A child can grow slowly but when under preasure, they can grow fast mentaly.
In aang's case I think it's because his va got older, he was still a kid back then
How could we not notice?
Katara's my fav. She's brave, kind and logical.
I love Zuko 's reaction when Katara bloodbend
I'm currently re-watching the series and I think Katara's progression as a waterbender is honestly more impressive than aang's journey to master the elements. Since aang had mastered the elements thousands of times in past lives, he was able to pick up each one relatively easily (not that it was easy). But that the seires takes place over the course of maybe 8 months just makes Katara's progression that much more impressive for me.
hahahhahahahahahah he didnt get much help from any other avatar other than some help from roku but not related to mastering the elements
It was annoying how easily aang could bend anything, but he barely trained at all.
Katara had a master lol there wasn't much progression, after that Pakku episode she suddenly improved by 10x
@@steveman751 wdym? Aang had trouble with every element except water. He trained plenty throughout the series.
I’ve been seeing so many people rewatching this that it makes me want to too😂
Katara is actually pretty cool, and a GREAT female role model.
Ur defenetly from Ireland
Female role model? Whaat?
Nexionstar I live in Texas
@@kiwi6207 then what? She's a male role model?
@@iamangel8808 lol no, i just dont know what "female role model" means
In other words, this support healer can carry the team perfectly.
Thats what I liked about Katara, she literally learned from the bottom: from being able to barely do waterbending to becoming one of the best waterbenders but also the greatest Waterbender of her generation, there is bound to be more Waterbenders who will one day go above and beyond to what she was capable of past, present or future. We saw that if you keep up with a commitment, we get results, it may not be today or tomorrow or soon at all but one day we can become a master at it.
In Legend of Korra: we saw her limitations, everyone has a limit, even she doesn’t possess omnipotent healing powers, even with decades of practice and understanding of Waterbending, she reached the apex of what she was capable of attaining.
Legit, the bloodbending episode was the scariest episode i've ever watched.
Really? Because the episode with Koh is still the most Terrifying to me
Yeah, Koh was creepy
Same
The_SCP _Foundation yeah bro the jump scares and eerie feeling you get from watching koh makes me think that koh is more scary
who's koh?
I absolutely ADORE Katara's fire nation disguise!! I don't know why, but I always go back to those episodes just for it. She was designed sooo well!!
(I really wish she had it on for longer, but her water tribe outfit wasn't too bad.... - Gotta love the hair tho)
Younger me was simping over Fire Nation Katara, like woo-wee😅
The fact that Katara learned water bending without some master before she learned to a real master. Not to mention her waterbending skills in book 1 is already amazing. Katara is a genius waterbender.
Favorite Katara moment, when she literally rose with the full moon to fight Hama.
Nobody:
Aang learning water bending: Girl It's like I'm born with this skill
Katara: You are
HAHAHHA
wait, an original comment? :O
fruiitea why u care if a comment is original
@@someperson9998 if someone uses the same roast all the time it's not funny anymore is it?
@@jcspamsl2852 that’s not the same as stealing but alright
My favorite Katara moment is her hugging Aang out of the avatar state in his rage against the sand benders.
Sssaaaammeeee!!!! That was one of the most memorable scenes to me from my childhood.
If Katara was in Aang's position and fighting Ozai instead, she probably would've killed him
Everyone praises Iroh as their favorite character but Katara will always be my favorite. I also genuinely believe that she didn’t fully show it but she is the most powerful water bender of her time.
No I doubt that Master Pakku was in 3 episodes and he did things she didn't do.
Also he said she's possibly the finest water bender in the world not including himself he said this comment 3 years after ATLA ended.
Katara's method of moving in the ice after she captured azula reminds me of Zuko's breath of fire.
I love that she can copy another style and use it as her own in just a few short movements/sessions.
I'm pretty sure it's not ice cuz all the ice in the show up until that point is like full solid and white but with azula it's like slightly transparent and has little air bubbles in it. But I do agree with you on the zuko similarity
@@Deliverance253 That was all snow my dude. The northern water tribe is 90% snow, what was shown there was ice, but they put emphasis on it so they could see the characters inside said ice.
We can see that all team Avatar like to use another Bender style (except toph coz she cant see it)
Like the Agni kai between zuko and azula , how zuko use airbender earthbender and ultimately waterbender( lightning direction) style
And katara using earthbender stand against hama
@@yobelpetra8652 Yeah and especially Aang.
Top benders:
Air: Aang
Water: Katara
Earth: Toph
Fire: Iroh
I think that it said in the show that Ozai was stronger power wise then Iroh. Iroh just was smarter, much more of a strategist. Learning from enemy’s and find they’re weak spots. Then attacking. There were much stronger firebenders even in the white lotus.
Wit - Sokka
Abearlsu Iroh knew the true power of firebending, as it is mentioned that he learned from the original masters; he learned that firebending doesn’t come from rage, but from passion and through precision.
Including TLOK, I think Zaheer is a better Airbender, Gazaan or maybe Bolin are better earthbenders, Amon is a better water bender, and Ozai is a better fire bender. (Never actually watched the show, I just saw quite a lot of clips, and the only firebender I know from TLOK is Mako)
And sword is Sokka
As someone who didn’t grow up when this was made I want to say this is by far the most amazing show I’ve every watched
I liked it that Katara stood up to the waterbending master of the northern tribe. She didn't have to though; he would of eventually seen her necklace and agree to see what she can do. Or she could of stood up to him in a more respectful way. Authority is there for a reason. More women was probably getting hurt than the men there, and so he restricted them to stop learning to battle. And the women had the responsibility to care for everyone in the camp because the man weren't do the cooking and cleaning.
like with most characters on this show, i just really like how they showed her progression in water bending throughout her journey
unlike the avatar movie 😔
Kaтsυмιccнι lets pretend the movie and season 2 of korra never existed
Still can't get over how Katara managed to beat a firebending prodigy during Sozin's comet. No full moon, no bloodbending, just raw waterbending at a disadvantage yet still coming out on top.
It’s called plot
She was deranged and insane
And don’t forget that prodigy was unraveling, becoming very unstable and insane due to manipulation and internal emotions
Oh please. If Azula was at her prime, and stable minded, she would have destroyed Katara
@@Ronin.Samurai yeah totally, or katara could use her octopus stance or water arms to shove azula in the ground, bro get over it, katara and toph dominate over azula
This really broke the series apart in a way that i hadn't previously been able to appreciate. Thank you for widening my perspective yet further.
