Headcanon: all the forgeworlds have varied colourschemes, but only in the ultraviolet and infared spectrums, so that you can't see them without optic enhancements
So, that’s not actually far off from what goes on in the lore: The Adeptus Mechanicus utilizes a type of Augmented Reality network called the “Noosphere” and those who are augmented to do so, can see it as streams of data and information , tagged to the world around them. So a Skitarii “data-tether” can actually be seen as a tether of data being transmitted up into orbit by others who are logged into the Noosphere…if a weapon has an “awoken spirit”, aka, cogitator-components to it, then it’s user can see things like a round count, chamber/barrel temperature, misfire warnings, range finding, tragectory predictor lines, etc, with just a glance at it. They can also get feed data of the battlefield piped into their brains via the Noosphere from orbital satellites and ships, get ballistic calculations sent to their feeds by their spotters, etc. Aside from the Skatros, no Skitarii sniper uses a scope on their rifles/arquebuses. They don’t need it. Basically, Skitarii are some of the best shots in the Imperium because they literally get more info in the field then almost any other soldier/warrior there… …and the Priests of Mars novel series, shows that a common upgrade for cult layfolk, thralls, labourers, etc, is an implant that allows access to the Noosphere….and even more common, are Electoo brandings…basically glowing sigils implanted beneath the skin that work like ID chips, with a lot of data viewable through the Noosphere. So basically, the robe and armour schemes are there mostly for the benefit of their allies identifying them, or as camoflage (such as with the original Red robes on Mars, or the choice to switch to orange for Ryza’s rust dunes). Anyone who needs to know within the Cult Mechanicus, wouldn’t have to see the colours or painted sigils to identify a group of Skitarii’s forge world, they’d just go into AR mode and see that group’s alliegence, maniple/legion, entire declassified record of battle, medical response info, and maybe their favourite foods and that they like long romantic walks across the Manufactorum gangplanks with cans of Sacred Unguents garnished with tiny metal umbrellas, in hand.
So, about the "noodpheare", considering how much tech and history is not really known, any chance that the real name of their network at least as a nickname even was newspjeare but people spoke with a New Yorker accent so it came out asnoospheare? And then when the tech priest tried to pass this info forward it got mangled up with the "noosphere" concept?
@WolframHeart-xp2px Noosphere is an existing theoretical concept. Lithosphere - the planet; biosphere - the life on the planet; noosphere - the network of communication and interpersonal relationships on the planet, as I understand it.
@@WolframHeart-xp2px Also, from what I recall, the Noosphere is actually a more recent development then most AdMech Tech, and is actually well understood as a result. It was a theoretical framework and experimental tech during the Great Crusade, but was implemented en masse after the original data network the Mechanicum used was utterly corrupted and suborned by the Horus-aligned High Fabricator General. Those loyalist forces who were spared from Mars’s data crash and data-djinn attacks, were the ones unplugged, or already using the new Noosphere as essentially “beta-testers”. …so, necessity became the Mother of Invention, and the AdMech implemented the Noosphere, despite being new and experimental technology, faster than when Belisarius Cawl discovered the “Safe Fire” switch on the majority of Plasma Weapons. Noosphere isn’t immune to corruption though, it’s just more resilient than the previous more open network…so AdMech Techxorcists don’t have to worry that much for their livelihoods.

You've got what my grandfather called a "Cavalry Body". Because in the Horse Cavalry a tall torso gives you more shock and reach with a saber, but long legs are a hindrance on horseback, making it hard to rise in the saddle to deliver overhand cuts, and generally are awkward in both the gallop and the trot, due to longer stirrups. He told me this when I was a kid and he was teaching me to ride a horse, because I'm the opposite of you, shorter torso and long legs and I had gotten discouraged while learning to ride at a trot because it was just exhausting. Just thought you might think that was cool
I think instructors have their own theories on a “good” body type for horseback riding. It isn’t quite the same as your comment because I was in a kids riding class, not cavalry training, but we were told having long legs was good. Long legs supposedly meant more contact with the horse for leg signals. And long legs helped keep you in the saddle when a horse decides at the last second that it doesn’t want to take a jump, so stops abruptly with their head/neck thrown down, sending the rider flying forward with nothing to grab.

I hope we one day get to see an Adeptus Mechanicus centric CRPG. I love Rogue Trader and I hope it might open the door to more rpgs in the 40k Universe. Flying around uncovering warp routes, scanning planets, and so on, made me sometimes dream of doing something similar just as a part of the Explorator Fleet. Uncovering Archeotech and fighting Heretek in the name of the Omnissiah.
Honorable mention for Orestes Prime, from the novel Titanicus. Its a youngish hive world that has an honest to Emperor Titan repair facility who's bays are built vertically into a dead volcanoe and acessed by walking up TITAN SIZED STAIRS. The Mechanicus and the Legio had a heavy presence in the captial hive that surrounded the facility. In the novel it gets invaded by a chaos Legio and theres an engine war, and efforts of the locL mechanicus to get the upper hand result in heresy. Its juat such a good book
Definitely Rysa, my personal forces require me to be building and productive, I would be absolutely devastated were I to be stuck in a situation where I was disallowed to build novel designs.
Would love for you to do a deep dive into the Grey Knights. Going through Their origins, name characters the brotherhoods there's just so much to the faction. I know you touched on it in your shorts but a deep dive would be Epic!! Thanks again for all your hard work you rock 🤘
Another fantastic video ^^ I know Xana II became Dark Mechanicus and we're still waiting to get more lore on them, but can't say I wasn't hoping for it to have a little mention here. Next time!
Ive made a custom forge world called plagos, the sunken shrine. They have green and brown robes with bronze armour. Their unique quirk is that there forges are all underwater, and the planets oceans cool there engine's
There's potential for unique cultural characteristics related to an ocean world here. Maybe they use ocean water to quench steel as a ritual much like how the Iron snakes bring a bottle of ocean water from the home planet to bless the worlds they land on. Normally you don't quench steel with water unless you have nothing else to use because water cools hot steel too quickly making the metal too brittle and potentially causes warping. But this can be mitigated by mixing manganese into the steel and manganese is also common in sea water. Not to mention IRL you have manganese nodules forming at the bottom of the ocean from various complex biochemical processes which contain mainly iron, nickel and manganese. The techpriests probably considered these ore holy gifts from the Omnissiah. And they probably ornate their guns with nacre harvested from marine animals like how people do it with luxurious hunting rifles and shotguns.
Another thing to consider is their favored choice of weapons if you want to go a more realistic route. Ocean planets are more likely to have a thick atmosphere because they tend to be larger and young planets where there's a lot of volcanic activity and lots of water to begin with. A thick atmosphere will absorb radiation, making large scale energy weapons less effective but favor explosive weaponry because thick atmosphere transmiss shockwave very well and water even more so. So they probably arm their titan legion with missile launchers to deliver massive warheads Such planets will probably also have an oxygen rich atmosphere from all the planktons in the ocean. This means incendiary weapons are more effective in a thick and oxygen rich atmosphere. So the infantry should prefer energy weapons because they tend to have an incendiary effect and since they don't fight at extreme long distance the energy loss from the atmosphere would be minimal.
Adeptus Mechanicus were already my favourite faction in 40k. But Dyson Spheres and world stripping Halo-Machines? HOLY MOLY! My Favourite here is Metalica.
@weshammer tau would be crazy! For arguably the most "hard sci fi" race in 40k I rarely see any lore on them. Prolly cuz they're communists and too many of us have played fallout😂
@@weshammer Tau would be great (not just because I'm a Tau player) but it would be interesting to see what you put together, really appreciate the effort you put into your stuff and it's great to see, thanks :)
I'd really like to know your take on Constantine Valdor : what he was, what he did, what was his place, what he thought and what he is doing right now among other things.
You should cover the various Ordinatus, they are one of the most powerful weapons of the Mechanicus, they are even rarer than the emperor class titans.
This was an excellent Deep Dive into Forge Worlds. And the more I learn about the AdMech, the more I love their lore. Stygies VIII especially was a treat to hear about. And I didn't know enough about Lucius to know that it was a whole Dyson Forge Sphere. My only critique on this one, minor at best, would have been a brief mention of Graia being the location of the first Space Marine 40K game (and technically its Kill Team prequel), which means that we get a pretty good look at what a Forge World could look like, despite the game's actual lack of AdMech cast.
I agree with you. The Martians hide behind machines, but dig little and they are more human than most. Great video thank you for your hard work. It really does pay off 💯❤️🤖
Everytime there's lore from ADMECH I pause what i was doing and pay attention to your videos. Yes, there's a lot of red in this faction army but I dont mind tbh haha, they are meant to represent tradition and adherence to orthodoxy in the highest degree, perhaps even more than the eclesiarchy. In the future I would love to see more lore from them, perhaps their worst defeat/biggest wins, deep dive into interesting character or places beyond belisarius. An exploration into the mars libraries etc. Keep up the good work and thanks for another amazing video
Ryza because when so much of the mechanicum was divided or faced treachery they rallied the loyalists and held the line against the Warmaster. Also Crucius is my favorite titan legio.
I've been pretty deep into collecting space marines since I started playing when I was 12, but if I were to only get into 40k now, the mechanicus are my ideal image of grim dark and would definitely be my go to army
All surprisingly unique. I actually did not expect that. I would like to see the survivors of that last world that got wrecked by the tyranids, to colonize a new world and focus exclusively on combating the tyranids in the future
I have a somewhat unrelated question. At 05:05 we have the imperial aquila with the known symbolism of the one closed eye towards the past and the one opened towards the future. Does anyone know what's up with it's talons? The jagged one with the spikes in particular?
Ok.... The Crown of Miracles/Grand Crown(not sure, this is my first exposure to it) has to be the coolest most terrifying(for primitive species, or real humanity right now) concept I have seen in sci-fi for a long time
Metalica is my favorite forge world. I attached to them because of the white, red and black but when I found out they absolutely abhor flesh and have a literal metal planet I loved them. I’m not even an AdMech fan
lol, almost all major population sectors died in the birth of she who thirsts, those highly civilised worlds were also the ones most tolerant of psykers, and thus also most directly at risk to being dragged into the warp when the eye of terror opened, in lore i believe the common name for those places now are vortexes of screams or something like that. and those dead worlds are still screaming 15 thousand years after the eye of terror opened(it opened in M26 i think)
A good time to brush up on Forge World lore since I plan to make a Forge World Crime Lord Warrior/Arch Militant character for my more personal story focus playthrough for Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader.
Thank you so much for your content I really like it. I especially enjoy your deep dives such as these. My request from the dj is please make a video on Caiphus Cain. He’s the best and he fights fkn everyone
I gotta go back through this but I know like 3 of them are my favorite Forgeworlds. For another topic can you go back into any Abhumans lore or stories that you didn't cover? Like maybe something involving the Ratlings, the Troth, the Ogryns, or the Pelegar? Hell, even some Beastmen stuff would probably work well. And if not that, maybe some more deep dive info on specialist factions within the Imperium or other xenos factions like Valhallans being the best at Iceworld combat or a group of Space Marines that almost specifically hunt and fight the Dark Eldar, something crazy like a contingent of Battle Sisters who fly into the Eye of Terror itself on purging missions that basically Never work but do see some effectiveness at warding or holding back large numbers of Chaos fleets and armies, and even some new Tau faction that might've gone ignored which is doubtful but not entirely impossible. There's likely virtually anything you might be able to choose from.
See, I always enjoyed the mechanicus astetics and unusual religion of machine. But this was fascinating! I played Mechanicus on pc which was pure gold but this was great info to help me understand them better.
My favorite tech-priests are the Biologis of the Calixian Forge Worlds. Specifically the trio of quasi-worlds at the hem of the Malfian Sub-sector. The Lathe Worlds: Het, Hesh and Hadd The Lathe worlds also produce the Acuitor Mech-Assassins, and have the Panopticon Orbital Station. Both are really cool in my opinion.
hello LoreDaddy westHammer i missed you i was in Hospital with acute asthmathe Mechanicus are my favourite there's so much GrimDark lore delicious body horror Best you are the Best WarHammer40K Lore Fiend (I also love and watch all the other Channels) corpse starch/mystery meat
Some time ago it occurred to me that there's a brilliant 40K boardgame to be made about tech-priests exploring xenos ruins at the precise point in history where the Imperium learned about the Necrons. This was slightly overtaken by the computer game Mechanicus, but I imagine it playing out like Warhammer Quest, with each player running a tech-priest (and perhaps their servitors and skitarii henchmen) over a campaign played as a series of expeditions into a modular board, looking for information about these strange new aliens and researching recovered tech between missions. This strikes me as a more appropriate in-game utilisation of the AdMech than making them a playable army in 40K proper; these people are scientists, not soldiers. I bring this up because these various Forge Worlds would work really well as character classes for the game, like the houses of Necromunda.

You manage to convey excitement but your voice is still calming and you go in such detail even veterans can enjoy so much.
The octet bless you!
Okay dude, I remember shitting on your video style like a year or two ago, and honestly you've become one of my favorite Warhammer youtube channels
You’re a good dood to learn this lore from. Very well spoken and articulated my guy! I subbed so I’ll be around now
I appreciate the transitions between factions in your script 👌
Honorable mention for Orestes Prime, from the novel Titanicus. Its a youngish hive world that has an honest to Emperor Titan repair facility who's bays are built vertically into a dead volcanoe and acessed by walking up TITAN SIZED STAIRS. The Mechanicus and the Legio had a heavy presence in the captial hive that surrounded the facility.
In the novel it gets invaded by a chaos Legio and theres an engine war, and efforts of the locL mechanicus to get the upper hand result in heresy. Its juat such a good book
Perfect vid to watch while doing school work :D!!
And rewatch at home when I can use Wi-Fi worth a damn :P
Definitely Rysa, my personal forces require me to be building and productive, I would be absolutely devastated were I to be stuck in a situation where I was disallowed to build novel designs.
Im so glad you made this. I didnt even know there was lore for separate forge worlds. Dont let content arguments get you down, yours is novel
Can Weshammer do a video about Bruva Alfabusa and TTS? It would be funny for him to discuss the Fabulous Custodes.
I hear oiled abs quivering.
Ah ya ya yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Weshammer being the most informative WH40k lore guy. I go to A Vox in the Void for stories, Wes for lore and ebjoy them both immensely.
Wes this was a great lore video, will this become the start of a series of each races subfactons?
Yes. I think I'm either gonna do eldar or tau next
I haven't came so fast to a WesHammer video since he got that handsome haircut
I'd really like to know your take on Constantine Valdor : what he was, what he did, what was his place, what he thought and what he is doing right now among other things.
You should cover the various Ordinatus, they are one of the most powerful weapons of the Mechanicus, they are even rarer than the emperor class titans.
Once more, excellently digestible info. Plenty of new lore even for a long time 40K fan!
Visual aid choices are spot on too!
Yay, new Weshammer video!
It really does pay off 💯❤️🤖
I'd love to see a vid on the Lathe worlds Hadd Het and Hesh, since they're some of the coolest forgeworlds in the setting :)
Wes, my greatest hope is that you make an Adeptus Arbites video deep dive. Keep up the great work
I would appreciate it if you made more videos on the Mechanicus, it would also be nice if they were longer too.
I applaud Wes for always putting his ads in the same place so we can strategically skip to the start of the video.
I try to mark them to or at least have them strategically end and the end of a chapter
Would love to see a video about the unique weapons of the mechanicus.
You da man, Wes. Please keep making content.
Would love to see a video on the Emperor’s Spears!
Though only one truth prevails in the Mechanicus order: *nobody skips Toaster-f*cking day.*
I've been praying for an upload Thanks mate this faction is one of the more interesting ones in my opinion anyway 👍🙏
I've been pretty deep into collecting space marines since I started playing when I was 12, but if I were to only get into 40k now, the mechanicus are my ideal image of grim dark and would definitely be my go to army
Loved this. Your content is always a pleasure to watch and listen to.
All surprisingly unique. I actually did not expect that.
I would like to see the survivors of that last world that got wrecked by the tyranids, to colonize a new world and focus exclusively on combating the tyranids in the future
Little disappointed that you didn't cover Lathe-Het, Lathe-Hesh, and Lathe-Hadd. Still, top quality vid as always Wes.
Excellent depth on the research 👏
I have a somewhat unrelated question.
At 05:05 we have the imperial aquila with the known symbolism of the one closed eye towards the past and the one opened towards the future.
Does anyone know what's up with it's talons? The jagged one with the spikes in particular?
Good question. Hmm..
i am also all torso, i wish you had mentioned that you shirts are good for ppl like us!!
Hey man hope the spooky nights were good and it's good to hear that awesome voice again.
First Wes video. Definitely slaps. Props my guy.
Ok.... The Crown of Miracles/Grand Crown(not sure, this is my first exposure to it) has to be the coolest most terrifying(for primitive species, or real humanity right now) concept I have seen in sci-fi for a long time
Great video thank you please keep up your great work
Forgeworld Metallica also has a thriving rock-and-roll scene.
The God that failed blasts daily.
Metalica is my favorite forge world. I attached to them because of the white, red and black but when I found out they absolutely abhor flesh and have a literal metal planet I loved them.
I’m not even an AdMech fan
Awesome video! Tons of great lore I had no clue about
Hey, Wes! I finally picked up a set of Into The Am shirts and I'm waiting for them to delivered. I'll let you know how they feel
I used to imagine each Forge World aligned with a sector/Chapter, each one in the DAOT a capital their empire now sector was built around
lol, almost all major population sectors died in the birth of she who thirsts, those highly civilised worlds were also the ones most tolerant of psykers, and thus also most directly at risk to being dragged into the warp when the eye of terror opened,
in lore i believe the common name for those places now are vortexes of screams or something like that.
and those dead worlds are still screaming 15 thousand years after the eye of terror opened(it opened in M26 i think)
A good time to brush up on Forge World lore since I plan to make a Forge World Crime Lord Warrior/Arch Militant character for my more personal story focus playthrough for Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader.
Death world lore!!! Also as a man named Wes who’s 6’2 with 32 inch legs, i really feel being all torso, that ad hit home
Ryza remains my favorite of the forge worlds as a result of the Battle of Ryza in the horus heresy, if you take time to read about how that went.
Graia:"I do not believe in your existence"
Enemy:"Ah, I see your logic. Nothing I can do now. Guess I'll have to turn back"
😂
Thank you so much for your content I really like it. I especially enjoy your deep dives such as these. My request from the dj is please make a video on Caiphus Cain. He’s the best and he fights fkn everyone
Good to see you again Wes. Be safe this holiday season and make sure to take Santa's mojito when he hits Clearwater lol 😆
This is the ideal video to watch during my work right now. Um trying to turn a pile of broken PC's into a couple working one's.
Praise the omnisiah.
See, I always enjoyed the mechanicus astetics and unusual religion of machine. But this was fascinating! I played Mechanicus on pc which was pure gold but this was great info to help me understand them better.
I liked those sukers from Gryphonne IV. It is like the Eldar. Wanderers in space. Would like to know more about this loss to the Hive
Tjx
Slap me with that Mechadendrite knowledge Wes... I need it.
My favorite tech-priests are the Biologis of the Calixian Forge Worlds.
Specifically the trio of quasi-worlds at the hem of the Malfian Sub-sector.
The Lathe Worlds: Het, Hesh and Hadd
The Lathe worlds also produce the Acuitor Mech-Assassins, and have the Panopticon Orbital Station.
Both are really cool in my opinion.
I'm surprised this video is only 30 mins long, this seems like a topic that could have easily been an hour long video.
Take a shot every time he says "the next forgeworld we're gonna talk about"
Great material. Thanks man.
Love this one and more drukari
This video single-handedly cured my hatred of the Machincus. I now respect them more than ever.
hello LoreDaddy westHammer i missed you i was in Hospital with acute asthmathe Mechanicus are my favourite there's so much GrimDark lore delicious body horror Best you are the Best WarHammer40K Lore Fiend (I also love and watch all the other Channels) corpse starch/mystery meat
I'd love a video about the named Orks, besides Ghazghkull Thraka!
A video on the Dragon Warriors and other little known Chaos marines would be awesome.
Have you done the lore video for the creation of warhammer? Not the in universe but the writers, first models and the like?
Thanks for the video!
