kanye brags about being the pioneer of visuals in hiphop but all of his album's booklets and packaging in general are trash
I agree, most of his booklets are very low :/

it think it was intended due to this being a very minimalist and short album, all his other physical releases have a lot of really cool stuff
You definitely must have only seen the releases for the last few albums then, College Dropout had an amazing booklet that he styled as a yearbook, Late Registration, Graduation, 808s and Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Watch the Throne all had gatefold digipak designs for CD (and gatefold vinyl for 808s and MBDTF) with brilliant artwork and aesthetics (he also included posters in all of those album packaging and extra prints of the alternate artwork for MBDTF), and Yeezus did Donda's minimalism but better with the iconic red tape.
Just because his packaging has been lackluster in recent years certainly does not mean it has always been like such.
