Fabulous presentation, we are so pleased that there are such talented individuals as yourself to help in the search of our next home, looking to possibly retire in Panama, possibly renting for 6months or a year… looking forward to coming to Panama in early 2025. I will be watching you for all your insights…

Very good presentation, enjoyed it a lot. Hopefully this we’ll help newbies to the wonderful country of Panama. I been in country for five years and been very pleased with the people and country. Just watch out when it comes to the drivers of Panama. When crossing a street l find it best to hold your arms up in surrender, look both ways and run fast! I use public transportation 90% of the time. Thanks.

Thank you so much! I am familiar with that guide and appreciate you clarifying things. I will be on a scouting trip in December and am looking into the Gorgona area. If I like Panama, I will return in Feb or March to begin the visa process and look for a 6-month rental. I will look up your agency for assistance. Thank you.

Great advice as always. As a broker in a beach town in the U.S, the same truth applies. Local knowledge is key...find a real estate professional that you can trust. Share your criteria/priorities for a home or condo and work together to find your property. Thank you for being a great resource!

    1) There is an MLS, called Acobir.
    2) There are no title companies, rather, attorneys provide that function.
    3) Interview 3 agents, ask them how they operate.
    4) You can walk into offices and ask to see properties.
    5) You can find listings of other agents and then have your agent make an offer for you on that property.
    6) For short-term rentals, it's not reasonable to expect most agents to find you a property. Full-service agents will.

Maybe next time develop your own info instead of tearing apart someone else's hard work and guide. As a realtor for over 25 yrs yes it is better to pick one company to work with but sometimes it is better to work will multiple companies. To tell someone no one will work with you for going to multiple companies is poor advice. Maybe tell people to talk to each company and explain that you are working with others and let the company decide.
Thank you for getting info out there just becareful how you present it.

Thank you for sharing your POV, great feedback. My goal wasn’t to “tear apart someone else’s work,” rather than be transparent and address advice that is being given to thousands of people relocating to a very unique market. Additionally, I don’t make the rules on how the agent communities work, I am sharing insider information on how they work so people can understand. As stated Panamà is very different than other real estate markets. Majority of agents have agreed to always ask clients if they are working with another agent and if they are, circle them back to the agent they are working with. This is a relocation community and most of the time agents have spent sometimes years communicating back and forth before a client even hits the ground- so ideally they will be loyal. We do much more than help them find a house- we are their first relationship, their main source for all things, help them navigate immigration, residency, bringing their pets/belongings, translate, etc and on and on…that deserves to be respected and the agent deserves to be compensated in the end.

I get what you are saying but I certainly don’t want to risk not getting the full attention of an agency because they know I’m working with others. Coming from another country, we do want to get the best service possible. It’s already scary being in a new country. I think the advice from the guide isn’t to steer us wrong but based on someone’s experiences and meant to help. People can choose since we now have even more information. I love choices! We all want the best experience possible so the more info the better. We can choose. Thanks Beth for giving us more guidance.
