Gus is a visionary, Gal can't get his head out of domestic football. Rugby League needs to take over the world. The people of the world need Rugby League.
I understand and appreciate his patriotic point of view, but investing overseas is a much better business proposition. Gotta try cut in to those origin crowds
Hear me out… I think it would be cool, and more achieveable than you think, to have a combined English / Australian club competition. If half the teams are from Australia and half from England, and each team plays every other team once, half home and half away, that means that each team will play 75% of their matches in their own country. The 25% of matches that are played on the other side of the world can be done in a single “tour”. In other words, each team has one overseas tour which accounts for 25% of their season. Logistically, that seems pretty achievable to me.
It will never work, the time difference travel costs and players away from family too long. They could do a cup competition though but I think would require the NRL season to be shorter.
Gal is wrong that the best come to Australia. Guys like Rob burrow or Ryan hall or Leon pryce all would have been great in Australia and never came. Same with Danny McGuire.
@@putjaglovesup5284am no Leeds fan but in his defence he got two horrendous injuries. No mention of Seumanufagai who turned tail & returned home to zero criticism & minimal impact. I heard plenty about it down the pub from my Leeds supporting mate unfortunately.

Likely Lancashire vs Yorkshire but it's been tried and fans just weren't interested. As usual the RFL half arsed it but crowds started poor and got worse so it only lasted a few years.
It is, and it isn't. Penrith is a footy factory, and they recruit heavily from the country as well. As long as those junior Leagues are producing players, they will never run out of talent.
@@stevvvvveperry The problem is the juniors that are developing their game in the lower grades have to be rushed into the top grade before they are ready . That was obvious on the weekend . we need to build inside Australia first expand to other states, stomp out Rugby Union and AFL THE SUPER LEAGUE Super League : Europe Super League : Oceania
Most rugby league in Europe is England, particularly north west England. There is essentially no meaningful rugby league being played anywhere else. Rugby league will never compete against Football in Europe. The best bet is overtaking rugby union in state schools across the UK and investing in those schools in a way essentially all the 6N unions have failed. Or just accept that Rugby League is predominantly an Australasian sport now and just make your nations head and shoulders better than everyone else like the Americans have done with most of their sports.
@@ToddHull-n4i I mean I don’t seen it happening. England are the only northern hemisphere team with the ability to compete against Australia, and even then that’s occasional. Where is the money coming from? How much money will it take to develop and maintain 1000's of pitches on the East Coast of Australia, this is a stupid discussion. Panthers created 30 dominant players and have lost out with over half of their 2020 team leaving to other clubs, I can bet that all of them did it for $, it is unfair on the time and effort the Panthers put in to introduce the players they have the last 5 years.
Bet you didn’t have this problem when it was happening to Brisbane year on year. We copped it year on year and now that it’s affecting New South Wales clubs suddenly it’s a problem.
@troystaunton254 too true there's a reason Gus came to Brisbane to tour their facilities before returning to Penrith and coming up with a similar program. The clubs that bring through their own talent should be compensated for it.
Gus is rights
I'd love to see a high quality second-tier league, combining state and Pacific leagues with some free-to-air TV broadcast.
Another team in NZ is a must. They’re building a new stadium in Christchurch. I was there earlier this week and it’s going to impressive.
The NRL should go international. Buying the English SL would provide financial muscle for the game world wide. It is time.
Basically turning it into something similar like the Champions Cup/Champions League in union and soccer respectively, I'm liking it.
I wish Gus ran the game
We need Gus full time here in Aotearoa NZ

The tiny in-goal area for Super League games is so weird lol never get used to seeing it
supposed too be min 6m
As a brit, I would love the NRL to be de facto "globally" in charge of the game.

It’s about getting control of international football to grow the game
If you want to make every one happy dont become a leader sell ice cream 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
In a way, at least they're going international since they can stay fixated on clubs forever even if it means going the Champions League route.

Super league is 2 county sport in UK even with the branding & support of NRL the quality & attendance won’t improve overall.
NRL would have the money to subsidize though which would make a massive difference especially if it allowed all super league clubs to reach the cap.
