Keep the faith and trust in the process. I’m doing the same. I am 4 weeks post L4/5 and have had the burning, mainly in my glute/hip. It is dissipating slowly. We WILL get through this! Only those that have had nerve pain understand. Thank you for your update!

You poor thing! I dealt with this for 7 years, two after surgery. I so hope you are better now. I prayed for your healing and no new injuries.

I feel for you. I suffer from neuropathy. I deal with it but it's mentally draining. Especially at night when it keeps me awake. I pray for your full recovery 🙏 ❤️

Hey Chloe! Thank you for your update. I’m 2 1/2 months post op from discectomy of L4/5 and L5/S1. This was my second discectomy. I had one in 2010 which kept me mostly comfortable for 9 years. But the past 3 years led me back into surgery. I woke up just like you. Right leg numb and foot drop. My foot drop resolved in about 2 weeks but the nerve pain in my right leg and even my left has been a struggle. I too have trouble sleeping. I’m not taking any gabapebten either. Im trying a new nerve regeneration device which has helped a lot. Im also still going to PT 3 times a week. It’s mentally and physically exhausting! And my back still hurts too. Im definitely thinking you and I are just ok a longer road to recovery. God Bless. Just wanted you to know you are not alone from one busy Momma to another. But we will get through this❤️

I had this same surgery (L4-L5 also) back in September 2020. Had very similar issues you have had. I have struggled with numbness in my peroneal nerve from the knee down since immediately following the surgery. Sounds like your medical team was much better than mine. My surgeon didnt send me to PT for the foot drop for THREE months and only after me requesting it multiple times. I still struggle with my ankle giving out pretty regularly because my muscles arent working correctly down there and probably never will. :( It sounds like youre making great progress and I hope you continue to see improvement in your nerve pain/function. While it totally sucks this happened to you, it was really nice to see this video and not feel so alone in this as many people dont seem to understand what I am going through in losing the ability to do a lot of things I loved because my leg/foot wont work properly.

My PT did far more for my pain then my neurologist did. Even explained what was going on better that my neurologist! She was a blessing

Hi Chloe, thank you for sharing your experience, want to know if this was a Microdiscectomy or a conventional Discectomy?

Sorry to see that you are still suffering.😢 I am currently considering the same surgery as you did because I have L4L5 disc extrusion. I could not conclude from your videos if your surgery made you better or worse. What is your feeling on the result of it? I heard that human body sometimes can desolve the extruded disc without surgery. Your videos made me a bit worried about the surgery. Can you comment on the overall results? Are you happy that you have done it?

I've had back pain for 11 years now and knew i had DDD but discovered 5 years ago that i had a bulging disc also after my MRI. Fast forward to last year when i had a pop in my lower back and felt like lightning struck through my limbs and i almost hit the floor in excruciating pain that lasted for over 3 months. Was finally approved for another MRI after jumping through hoops and discovered i had an L5 to S1 disc extrusion, almost to the point of the disc leaking. I have started having foot drop on the left side and they are starting with the steroid injections in my back to see if that helps my pain but are talking about sending me to a surgeon for another opinion due to the foot drop. They don't want that nerve issue to get worse and my muscles in that leg get weaker. I'm terrified and don't know what I'll do of they want to do surgery! At the same time, I'm sick of living in pain and losing sleep every day and night!

going to a surgeon will help! In my case, I waited to long to have the surgery and that's what caused my foor drop. However, it is healing how that I don't have pressure on the nerve anymore. I completely understand where you are at. Its exhausting in every way.. I pray for complete healing for you
