Everyone goes through this, kind of differently, I just had my microdiscectomy on L4-L5 lower lumbar, nearly two weeks ago. And I’m absolutely fine. Straight after surgery I stand up and walked without anyone’s help. Next day they let me go home, after few days in bed no pain no weakness nothing. After a week I already did some light house work, and started to walk 3 miles a day everyday with no problem. Over two years ago I suffered severe sciatica and L4-5 disc was heavy herniated I was in constant pain and nothing helped, but I kept walking for 8 miles a day seven days a week no matter what. wishing you a speedy recovery to everybody who experienced this terrible situation
Please do take your time. I had l4 l5 lamnectomy & discectomy and I pushed myself for recovery and was back in work in 6 weeks, fast forward 1 year 6 months and I had to have the same surgery again but it was worse the second time. Take the help, take your time and let the nerve come back to life. I had my 2nd surgery 11th December 2018 & it has been the best decision! Good luck
Trust the process and it does take time. You’ve experience a bulging disc for two years. That’s two years of the nerve being irritated and damaged so it is not going to come right back. I know it’s hard but if you think about it that way it makes sense why recovery takes longer than you thought. You’ve got wonderful support so give your body what it needs right now and that’s time. Thank you for being vulnerable and educating people. Like we in the chronic illness world like to say…gentle hugs!!!!
Sending love and prayers for healing for you 🙏🏻 Definitely let people help and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!! You are loved 💕 and you will heal and get back to your old self in due time. Just keep a positive attitude and don't give up on your self!!!
My heart ❤️ goes out to you! I have had 5 major back operations and three shunt surgeries. It can take awhile to get back to your new normal. I have a numb foot and leg and it's not going to get better. I had a really bad foot drop and with a AFO brace and tons of physically therapy it was fixed to a slight limp. The gym has become my therapy. I will never be able to do squats or run but it truly helps. I truly believe it's something that's important. Or walking. Strong core for your back. If you every have questions please ask. It will get better. I'm sending you positive thoughts and vibes.
So happy for you and your recovery, your husband deserves praise as my wife divorced me because of my health problems my surgery is this week 1/ 12/ 2023,,,God bless .
I can relate to your frustration and impatience. It is difficult to adjust to the slow pace, assistance from others, and physical and emotional fatigue that healing requires when you are used to being very active and self reliant. It sounds as if you have some very loving, caring, supportive people in your life. Allow yourself to accept that gift and try to relax and pamper yourself as you recover. Sending love and healing vibes 💗💓
You've got this. Let your body heal. When my Dr said I needed surgery, he told me I'd be our for at least 12 weeks if not 16. Baby steps quite literally to your recovery is what your body is telling you you need. Sending prayers to you 🙏 🤗❤️
Yes absolutely!!! I’m just listening to my body and not pushing it to do more that it can at the moment. I’m more thankful than ever for my body and truly have a new perspective on how I need to treat it
It takes time Chloe believe me I said other day I’ve had 4 distectomys done last one was in my neck ur doing amazing as it’s not a easy surgery to have take care and one day at time 💕💕
Definitely take the time to relax and recover. It's hard, I know. I had a microdiscectomy at L4/L5 just about 2 years ago. I still have nerve issues, had to have 2 ablations, one on each side, where nerves were burned. I also have the numbness in my left calf and foot that you are describing. It's very frustrating but you eventually learn how to live with it. It takes a while to get to what your new normal will be. My surgeon was so positive about the success of the surgery, I just expected to be back to normal. Unfortunately that normal is just a different kind of normal and I have to be ok with that :) at least the major pain is gone!
These are interesting - I’m waiting to see a neurosurgeon for cervical radiculopathy from my C6/C7 compressing my C7 nerve. Thanks to the pandemic I’ve been waiting since December 2020. It’s gone on so long I’m expecting they’ll have to do surgery to release the nerve because of the delays…so even though it’s your leg and in my case it would be my arms, your progress is helping me prepare for what may be to come.
I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this. I spent 2.5 years recovering from early pandemic COVID-19 strokes. It’s very hard to have trouble walking and I’m so sorry. I hope you heal soon.
I am so sorry you are going through this. I commented on your earlier video. It I had a similar situation. Im sorry you are not getting quicker progress and you Are dealing with foot drop Instead-of getting massive relief. Do they have you in a post op back brace to stabilize your spine? I would think you would by now. In 2016 I had a a piece of my laminate break off and pin my nerve bundle and it Would cause numbness and pain and the feelings you’re dealing with but I would randomly loose all feeling in my legs and collapse with zero waning. I had a laminectomy discectomy in June of that year, by September it degraded again and they did a revisional . By April of 2017-9 months out I couldn’t feel my left leg again and I was in excruciating pain. And I needed spinal fusion. I felt amazing after my first surgery, like the worst of Everything went away almost immediately and I didn’t have many issues till the disk broke down again, but the second time it did reminds me of what you’re going through. Also something happened in my surgery where they nicked the chord and I hard residual tingling. (I woke up to the drs saying- can you feel your leg at all?-scary). So I pray they steroids help and you don’t need additional surgery like I did. I also had an external spinal stimulator post surgery for fusion , that helped a lot. But that was for bone and not nerves. But I’m curious if there’s anything for nerve stimulation. Sending my love and prayers. I hope you feel better physically and emotionally it’s a rollercoaster. Huge hugs!
Just had my L4-L5 Microdectomy today is post day 5. Wow big issue major Constipation due to pain pills. I have NO more leg sciatic just been in bed keep tossing turning drinking lots water.
Just looked it up, kinda different, but I've been dealing with the same area in my back for over ten years. If you need any support or just someone to vent to, because trust me I get it. Physical pain can totally affect you mentally as well. Stay strong and I'm sending love and healing vibes your way.
Good luck! I had fusion, after two failed la One Tony discectomoes, it’s a WHOLE other ballgame. That was rough. Just take your time to heal. Get your steps in when you’re allowed or you will feel stiff and worse. I had to wear a giant hard back brace for a while. It was annoying but was critical. They also did an external spinal stimulator and it made a big difference in my healing

Awe man… I’m so sorry that happened to you. I’m taking it easy and many people have told me the same.
So glad the last one did the trick!
Take your time Chloe! Sending healing and strength thoughts and vibes your way!

Honor the natural healing process. It takes time. But if you do, you'll find out the amazing body God gave us
You got this! 💕
Is this at all like a fusion? I've done everything else but a fusion that is scheduled on Feb 20th.
I pray it is successful!!! I had a discectomy to try to help get the pressure off the nerve.

I have a herniated disc as well and a pinched nerve so I definitely understand the leg pain that you're going through
