Thanks for posting this. My old CX609 radio crashed so I bought an exact replacement on eBay. After watching this video, I decided to try and do it and I pulled it off with no damage to the truck. Win Win for me. Thanks. again .
Video was awesome. Over the years my 2008 Xterra cd player had been getting worse and worse. I took a road trip from Atlanta to Idaho. In the middle of western Montana (absolutely no where), the stereo finally gave up the ghost. I had thick, white smoke pouring out of the two vents on the side while I was driving down the freeway. I was about 150 miles away from civilization.
The top tray has 4 clips, they are on the left and right sides. Each clip is about 1.5" in from the edge. It took me a good half hour to pop the top tray without breaking it, i used an upholstery puller from NAPA and some plastic bike tire removal paddles. The bezel is much easier to remove, start with the top clips and then do the bottom clips. It was pretty cold when I removed mine, make sure you warm up the vehicle until all the plastic is good and warm, probably will lessen your chances of cracking any plastic. Just take your time and you shouldn't break anything, don't force anything too much.
Thank you very much for the post. Very informative for a mechanic like me. Makes my work easy and avoid trying to figure out how to remove a stereo cover.
Thanks for a great video! My 2005 Frontier 4wd CD player hasn't worked for years and now I think I'll tackle the job of replacing the unit. I'm thinking of a single tier unit and use the empty for a cup holder.
Remove one of the battery terminals, usally negative is easier for five minutes. This is a "Reset" and may bring the changer back to working. Otherwise, this is a repair issue. Something we see common in shop. See our website for shipping and repair rates.
I want to put a new stereo in my 2006 Nissan xterra. When I looked online, a website said I'll also need a mounting kit to install the new receiver, a wiring harness to make the electrical connections without cutting into your Nissan’s wires, and an adapter for the FM antenna cable. Is it true I need to buy those in addition to the stereo? Thanks!
Just out of curiosity, how is this different from the Pathfinder removal? I have the '06 Frontier with the stock radio and the stock radio in a pathfinder is pretty much the same from what I've seen... (I also have a '05 pathfinder with the Bose system) I'd imagine all the layouts (stock, Bose, Rockford Fosgate) are similar, no?
Where can I find the main bezel for a low price? Guys that installed my new stereo cracked it.... Also.. Where would u guys recommend me going to get it installed? Nissan dealer? Thanks
Looks just a bit out of my comfort zone. I do not like messing with my dashboards too much they can brake fairly easy. I might just take it to the pros to do it but I'll take a before and after photo to make sure nothing breaks or get damaged. Thank you for the video very good info.
Frank X looking to replace my stereo with a working CD/DVD Blue Ray Bluetooth AUX USB with a flip out touch screen. so i can install a reveres camara on to it.
Very good idea. I took my 06 Nissan Frontier CrewC. for a radio change installation and guess what, they cracked the dashboard. That is why I'm here, I'm trying to learn how to change dashboard panel with a new one I bought for about 160 bucks. But I'm afraid of messing it up too.
I mistakenly pressed eject instead of load when I was trying to place a cd in stereo and the system neither ejects nor loads CDs, on display it says ERR 3 . Any suggestions and advise how to fix this problem? My car stereo is PY218 6 CD changer
Where can I buy a replacement for the "front panel" besides going back to NISSAN? I've got a 2005 and mine developed a crack on the left side.... thanks
Anyone watching this and wanting to try themselves, be careful. I can see there was def some set up in this video. The top tray "that was obviously already taken loose in this video" is notorious for cracking. then when pulling the main bezel also like to crack at the top while removing the two top clips. Taking to a pro helps but sometimes there is nothing that can be done to prevent this. Just a heads up before you begin this on your own.... plus I love how this expert is lays the face of the bezel against the shifter, then abuses it as he is unplugging the harnesses from the radio. Made me cringe the whole time lol
I have a 2005 Nissan Xterra and I tried this, the plastic broke to pieces. Yes, I know that it's very old from 2005. It just sucks, now I have to go look for a new OEM plastic dash cover.
Yeah-- BE CAREFUL! from 40 seconds to 50 seconds is BULLSHIT in this video. And THANK YOU for helping me break that part of my dash. The little clips holding that piece go into 4 slots-- 2 on each side. In the video, you can see the lower pair of these slots -- one on each side. They plug in and have a release tab to remove the part. I have successfully broken every goddam one of them. Watching this again, that top piece was already clearly LOOSE and just sitting there. Goddamit!
The stupid stereo company broke my dash that goes around the radio and stereo for my 06 Nissan Frontier CrewCab. They said they did'nt break anything, but I see they work is very rough on dashboards and covers and they want to get down to the stereo as quck as they can. Very unprofessional.
Nine years later, you're still helping people with this video. Thanks!
Facts

This is exactly what I needed to see. I have a 2007 Nissan Frontier and the CD player went out. Thank you!

Wow. Yah I wouldn't port about such tech.

Thank u
What could I do to the CD player to fix it . The CD player won't accept or eject any cd's . You have a tutorial on that
Thanks man
I have a 2006 Nissan Frontier radio turn on but not sound what it cut be?
Evidently a lot of other Nissan Frontier owners have CD problems as I do.

Video is total bs. The top piece he takes off in the beginning is held on with clips. It doesnt just "pop off"...
thank you
