    i did this exact process for a jason voorhees mannequin i did this past halloween. i would have never known about the foam if it weren't for your mask filling video! i did add some sticks in my limbs for added durability. i also just left the tape and everything on there.

    Is there a second half to this video?
    If so, can you post a link please
    If not, I would sure love to see how you make the arms and head be detachable and what materials are used. I really want to make a couple of these, to use as a life sized nativity scene. Too bad I can't get my cows to sit still while I use plastic wrap and packing tape to make their forms! LOL
    Many thanks for all your great videos!

      I did not film that part, but here is how, get PVC pipe and a pvc connector sleeve for each joint you want to move I like 1" PVC. drill out a hole for the pipe on one side and the connector on the other. leave enough pipe stub to fit into the connector sleeve. Gorilla glue them in and they press fit together pretty good

    Cutting it open with the knife and the piece of wood is a bit dangerous,
    there exist special scissors that are made to cut open bandages which would by perfect for this kind of task ✂

    I've done this, but found that the amount of foam it took was so expensive that I might as well have just bought a real one from Amazon. The expanding foam also tended to deform the packing tape outward. The second one I did, I just stuffed with crumpled up newspaper, and it was mostly fine, although it tended to bend and buckle under heavy clothing. If I had to do it again, I'd probably soak newspapers in a cement slurry and cover it in a sort of cement papier mache.

    • @StiltbeastStudios
      @StiltbeastStudios  Рік тому

      did you use fence post filling foam? thats really cheap considering. the yield.

    • @NoJusticeNoPeace
      @NoJusticeNoPeace Рік тому

      @@StiltbeastStudios No, I used Loctite, the same stuff you use for a lot of your props. I've never worked with fence post foam. I guess I should give it a try.

    • @StiltbeastStudios
      @StiltbeastStudios  Рік тому +2

      its MUCH cheaper for the yield and it cures chemically not with airflow so its much better suited for this purpose.

    why not put a meter stick along the back before you start wrapping

    • @StiltbeastStudios
      @StiltbeastStudios  11 місяців тому +2

      Because then it would have a meter stick shape in the tape. Every now and then we will do one and someone has a cell phone in their pocket and in the finished shape form, you can clearly see the cell phone shape in their pocket!

    Would this technique work with spray foam inside, like Gaps and Cracks?

    • @StiltbeastStudios
      @StiltbeastStudios  Рік тому

      No, since canned foam uses air to cure and it won't get enough air inside. You really need an a/b foam like the fence post foam that cures from a chemical reaction.

    Good ol' clear wrap. We 'abused' that in my old sculpture classes. A few students created clear wrap clones of themselves. I played with the stuff to make limbs for a robot that I made with cardboard boxes, blue glitter cardstock paper, and silver tape.
