- The S65 was an AMG version of the S600, with a twin-turbocharged V12 producing 604 hp (450 kW; 612 PS).[39]The S65 AMG W220 could reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4s, 200 km/h in 13.1s, and clocked in at 12.0s in the 1/4 mile.[40] The S65 still used the 5G-Tronic 5-speed torque converter automatic transmission due to its powerful engine, as it could make over 700 lb⋅ft (950 N⋅m) of torque.[41] Pushing close to 5,000 lb (2,300 kg), the S65 may not have been sporty compared to lighter sport vehicles of the day, but it pushed the performance limits of a full-sized luxury sedan
Funny to believe outgoing 2019 S65 only has 28 more hp than this one. Can you belive what having a 612 hp, V12 biturbo with 1000 nm beast must've felt like in 2005? Its even hardcore by todays standards but back than those were unreal numbers, damn Merc.

@@e.e9331 I'm in Sweden, bought it imported from Germany to Sweden by the previous owner back in 2007, he didn't drive it much, neither do I, around 4000km/year.

Pets and Friends in short and to the point; no. I mean dont get me wrong its a gorgeous car and a hell of a machine but this car is a financial disaster. V12's are known to be money pits, especially old ones with no record of previous ownership, huge fuel consumption, and consider that S class as itsself is pricey to maintain, especially an old one that has electronics that are 10 to 15 years old. Of course not to discourage you your heart wants what your heart wants, but be aware that youre not just paying the buying price, but at least double that in everything else in the few years to come. Wish you a good purchase on what you decide non the less.

I've only owned S600s and now S65s and never had a problem with them. everything thing in life including your own life depends on handling, care, and respect that you give. This includes your own wife and kids. If you don't take good care of them they will fall sick. If you don't care about your wife she will not look good and she will get old fast. There is no financial disaster in these cars if you drive them with care. Even a Toyota Corolla will break down if you don't service it and drive it with care. So Dude, take the negativity off out of your mind and just give people good advice to take care of whatever they have or want to have. In terms of gas, whenever any car gets in 3/4 just add gas for $20 and with the S65, just add premium / the best grade and the car will run without any incident. Please stop being so negative or discouraging anyone to have what they want when you haven't owned it yourself but just basing on rumors and stuff you read.
yea just factor in the maintenance costs for spark plugs, and abc failure, i would say its still worth it because its better than maintaining a e60 m5. lots of bang for the buck and you can just switch suspension to coilovers. only other car more powerful is the the dodge hellcat and cant wait until the hellcat falls in the 25k range in another decade.
