Your boot should almost be out of the stirrups incase you fall off. If your feet are in like you said to have them then if you fall off your feet will be stuck in the stirrups and you will get dragged by the horse.

Not so close the the edge so they fall out easily though or so just the tips of your toes are on the stirrup because it your horse decides to buck or something your foot could slip out and you could fall off easier. ❤❤

i have a question if u dont mind me asking, so i ride western & im hoping to become a barrel racer, but i dont really have a barn (or big arena for that matter) to teach or help me learn barrel racing, and my limit in riding is cantering, idk how to gallop 😭 i live in chicago, so there arent many barns near me, especially western, and ive went to one english barn and they didnt really teach me much (i was in a group lesson) any advice?

If you have a field you can set up barrels there just make sure there are no gopher holes or bumps and you can work up to galloping by just riding and start asking for speed and then eventually you will get going pretty fast and then you can start trotting and cantering the pattern then start asking for speed in the pattern hope this helps😊
