Granadilla! So good. Enjoyed them in Cuenca. Not the same as what I call passion fruit which has more bright yellow "pulp" with very black seeds. But the seeds are similar! Thank you for sharing your fruit with us. Love it!
gut-friendly is the name of my game here in Ecuador...I don't know why I'm so preoccupied with my gut here, but I've been daily eating limes, and ginger, fermented veggies, and gut-friendly fruits
Passionfruit: for your dining and dancing pleasure! That looks intriguing. I've never eaten a passionfruit, but I've seen the plant's flowers; they're strange and beautiful. On a walk through the woods in a campground in Arkansas a few years ago, I unexpectedly discovered a passionflower (passiflora). I knew what it was from having seen pictures of them, but never expected to find one among the forests of Arkansas.
Maracujá very popular especially made into liqueur in the islands of the Azores where I am originally from. Interesting to see you explaining the fresh fruit which I never had! Thank you. Love your recipes and videos on your channel. Have a happy weekend. ❤from Somerville, Massachusetts ❤ Check out the music they perform with the wind instruments....intoxicating. Through the years I have seen groups live on the Boston Common.
We have purple or black passionfruit in Australia, with golden orange flesh. We do eat the seeds, but never heard of anyone crunching them! They're too hard and slippery for that, but they give such a nice contrasting look to desserts. The favourite Aussie use for passionfruit is on a pavlova with lashings of whipped cream and sliced bananas, maybe blueberries and kiwi fruit (Chinese gooseberries), raspberries or strawberries. Passionfruit is great in yoghurt, and I love it as a variation in lemon curd. Passionfruit cheesecake is another delicacy.
Those all sound like tasty ideas!...crunchy the seeds is one of the best parts of this variation of passion fruit, I think...without the seeds, I don't know if I'd be crazy about the texture
I just had one of these yellow ones for the first time. Absolutely delicious and very different. Delicate , perfumy, I think I prefer this to the more common ones. I had this on its own but I love them as a topping on chia seed pudding
Sir, you are a little bit wrong. That is not a passion fruit. That is a sweet fruit from Colombia called Granadilla. Passion fruit is sour and it is used mainly for juice it is not eaten as a fruit
Hey Buck and camera girl, I never saw that type of passion fruit before. Very interesting. I was growing some purple passionfruit on the balcony but the cold got it.
The cold is getting me here! ...it only gets down to the 50's here in the mountains, but a lot of the old structures don't have heat, so everyday is a jacket day, inside or out
Sorry, this one is not the maracuya or passion fruit. This is Granadilla, and it is a different fruit. This one is sweet and the passion fruit is acid.
It has the consistency of an orange but oh so sweet. Oh oh oh wish they made passion fruit pop rocks back in the day that would have been yummy 😅 Loved! Loved your last two points 😂😂😂 You two be good and enjoy Ecuador 🇪🇨
the rind of the variety we're buying almost has a plastic-y, egg-shelly quality that wants to crack when cutting, so I have a hard time slicing them evenly...although CG does do a better job than I do
Hey guys, hope you 2 are enjoying yourself. Was the small green fruit quenepas If so I had those in Puerto Rico with my daughter. Guys would climb trees and sell them by the bag fulls. So yummy. Love trying fruits from other places. Please take some pictures and videos while your there to share.
naw...just regular, small limes...I'd never heard of quenepas--just googled them and watched a quenepas video...looks interesting...are they tart like limes?
These grew in the woods of Mississippi. As kids we'd pick them and throw them at each other and when they made impact they'd pop open. I had no idea they were edible. I wish I had tried them.
Please, this is not true. In English GRANADILLA is called PASSION FRUIT, but the video is showing GRNADILLA, not MARACUYÁ. Granadilla is sweet, Passion Fruit is acid, is yellow. Granadilla (Passiflora ligularis). Both fruits have the same texture and similar color, but the acidic flavor of Passion Fruit is absent in Granadilla and is replaced by a spectacular sweetness.
Try to get your hands on a granadilla during your travels. Looks almost identical to the maracuya, but much sweeter. I could eat 10 of them. Usually break them open on a table or if you want to be cool, your head.
@@ChefBuckRecipes Old time Italians boil dandelions, and drink the water, adding lemon and honey. PS: they drink a artichoke liquor called: Cynar that's great for digestion after a heavy meal.
Granadilla is not Maracuya ... Maracuya is Passion Fruit, it taste difference the pulp taste different too. More acidic. Granadilla is what you show in the video, it has more of a round bulb shape and taste sweet ... AND YOU DO NOT CUT IT WITH A KNIFE! it's a bit a like an egg... you crack top and peel the white membrane, which it's eatable. PERFECT SNACK!

Maracuya......"Makes shy people talk at parties" !!!!! Like !!!!!!
it's very similar to a Tom Collins
That is something different for sure. Gut friendly and healthy fun fruit

Passion fruit is my favorite fruit
CG sitting eating and dancing at the same time 😁.
her multitasking skills are off the charts (while mine are waning fast!)

Yes, you are right, this call granadilla.
This passion fruit looks amazing, with a good taste!!!
An good for us! (fingers crossed)

That is not passion fruit( maracuya), granadilla is sweet while passion fruit is sour. They are two different fruits, both are good in their own way.
In Colombia we call it granadilla.
That's what the lady at the mercado called this variety, too
Looks just like passion fruit in an orange shell I’m used to a smaller version with the purple shell.
That's what I'm used to seeing in the US...I think these variations of maracuya are more prevalent here in Ecuador
Passion fruit, mango, and pineapple with yogurt tastes as if you are in the tropics.
so true...I had a slice of coconut pineapple cake yesterday :^)

Very interesting!
Looks interesting ..have a great time 😎❤
thanks...we are enjoying the travels...I'm definitely getting my fruit fix :^)
@@ChefBuckRecipes ha🤣 leave the car and blow yourselves around yikes.
Yum
Looks like a juicy fruit akin to the Dragon fruit! Another one for me to try! Thank you, Chef Buck and CG!
Perhaps you could use the pulp to make a jello cup with the fruit rind as the cup.

Hi chef buck, here in the Caribbean we make passion fruit juice. You should give it a try .
with rum?

I think these varieties of passion fruit are granadilla, or at least that's what the market lady called them
Does the name “passion fruit” - indicate a meaning? For example, after eating it, does one feel passionate? Barbara in Al.
well...if it did that, I doubt we could afford it :^)
Wrong, this is not maracuya, it's granadilla. Get it straight!
Passion fruit lowers blood pressure, also arugula, and dandelions.
between the 3, I think passion fruit will be the easiest to eat :^)

So what does it taste like???
sweet and crunchy...supposed to be good for gut health, so we're eating a bunch while traveling
@@ChefBuckRecipes I’ve never had passion fruit so I didn’t know!!!
🌴🌞🤸
I've never seen in my state.
I had 1 last week and thought it was excellent!!! It taste like a mild orange. The inside looks disgusting but is are deceiving
I've seen some girls drink it in sodas
