Perhaps the best thing about the LBX is that it doesn't look anything like a Yaris Cross. I appreciate how Lexus is trying to evolve the spindle grille although the rear lightbar just seems too similar to what was once on a Dodge Dart. The interior too is refreshing, with the only good implementation of the smaller infotainment screen in a Lexus. Still not sure if Lexus really needed to go down this segment. I believe this should just have been put on the C platform and sold as the next-gen UX.
Mark u .lexus has no issue going down to this segment because its a must have luxury segment in europe . Let me remind you mercedes benz sell cheap work vans in the same time as a s class in europe .just so you know .
Good gosh, lexus and toyota are on a roll. The competitors are sweating bullets at this point. And the Almighty GX hasn't even came out yet. Keep em sweating Kirk!! Thanks for bringing it to us 👏👏
This Lexus gives me hints of the older CHR on the exterior look. I don’t know. I kind of like that round look of the car. I think it would do well in the Lexus lineup.👍
Superb Lbx, wow. Fit and finish interior, looks great, premium 2.0, wow. This is way better than Audi Q2, Mervedes A class etc. Very very good car for Europe despite the lack of a bev version. It will be expensive too. In the Netherlands expected price tag of 38.000 euro up to 50.000 euro for the full spec version. Journalists who have seen this car have said the materials used are as good as in the Lexus RX...... . Very very good.
Would buy it!!! Even smaller than UX, it looks like, but seems to have better usable space. Glad to see some colors coming on cars, again. Just back from 2 weeks in Japan and fell in love with all the small cars there and most were hybrids. Most Americans seem to prefer bigger but there are those of us with a preference for something small, easy to maneuver, and with some nice finishes. Bring it Lexus!!!!
driving the CT 200H for many times , wish this 1.5L small suv is coming to Canada but also price I thought will be cheaper than the UX , in fact this LBX looks like selling way more than the UX
Absolutely fantastic inside and out! Especially the dash. The screen looks properly integrated rather than am after thought. My only gripes are the lack of trippies and the inverted check DRL that doesn't match other Lexus'.
@@baronvonjo1929 How literal is terrible? For one, "sub 20k" means nothing to me as 20k here (in Australia) is pretty much fleet special/povo packed entry level cars. This does not look like that. Second, the integrated screen is integrated into the middle of the dash and not some screen stuck on top of it like an afterthought. There are physical buttons. The steering wheel looks nice and the centre gauge cluster looks purposeful (albeit derived from the yaris) and not like some tacked on screen.
@thtupid Maybe seeing it all in person would change my mind. The terribly cheap all black look is not doing it any favors. I guess the simplicity? The screen looks terrible. I did not see any physical controls at all when I commented but I will look again.
@@baronvonjo1929 don't get me wrong. It does not look 'expensive' and there is a minimalist look to it. All I'm saying is it looks 'good' (the term I used was fantastic). But yeah have a look. There are physical buttons and touch/permanent touch screen ones on the screen from what I can see.
Also Toyota Yaris just got power boost. Its called Yaris "Hybrid 130" because of the new transaxle and larger and powerful ev motor generator same as the new Lexus LBX. From 115 hp to 130 hp for better acceleration and improved CO2 Emissions 0-100 just 9.2 seconds.
Lexus and Toyota are finally getting the designs they should have had a long time ago. If this was same size as the RDX it would probably do very well here.
I quite like it, the interior looks good! Sure it wont be fast nor quick by the looks of things but im sure it'll be fit for purpose. Perhaps an F-Sport trim with a power bump? ..ah well.
With projected pricing starting at $35-$37,000, it hits some stiff competition. I personally really like the toned down fascia, the musculature of the side elevation and the rear exudes simplicty and class. Yes, I will probably park this right next to our UX200.
This makes perfect sense for Europe. I was there for the first time in March of this year and finally understood the point of slow, tiny cars that are efficient and easy to park haha.
I need this lowered with a body kit zooming around the US. I appreciate them providing an upgraded interior and driver experience in something this size. Gives me hope for a new CT!
If Toyota brings back the Land Cruiser and Offers that yellow on the LBX for it or the yellow on the new 4Runner, I would 100% buy The Land Cruiser/ 4Runner ASAP
You're my "go to" Lexus guy! Any teasers on the 2024 RX and possible changes/improvements (or when they plan to announce it?)? Ready to buy now, but since it's already June, I'm going to wait for the 2024. Fingers crossed they worked on the items that irked the good folks who bought the 2023🤞
I'm surprised no one has mentioned that it looks like a mini Peugeot. And rear quarter panel infiniti. The LBX would've been a nice addition to the US Lexus lineup but probably more suited for Europe.
Nope, cause American taste is different. They like big cars, muscular and powerful, not these little cars. Thats why most car manufacturers dont sell small cars in America, except for other markets.
It looks very good but its really an upscale version of the Yaris Cross. No bad thing but quality looks to have been greatly improved especially the seating and dash. My only gripe is whether the 1.5 turbo is sufficient for a Lexus? Gas mileage will be amazing as its based on the latest tech Hybrid .
I love it. The german cars at this size range are overpriced money pits, the Tesla Model 3 is too large for European city driving, and every other brand does not look as premium as this by a long shot.
Looks similar to the discontinued Mazda CX-3! That too was a great looking small vehicle. Nearly the same size (~165 inches vs. ~168 inches). Don’t like the name. Could have been the CT or AX or YX or ZX, etc. Too close in name to the LX. I am assuming they won’t be sold in the same markets, which would avoid any confusion to anyone not as familiar with their line up.
My current commuter car is a Prius C and I love the size. It's so much fun to drive and super easy to park. I'm pretty sure this would be bigger and I really like it inside and out. I'd prefer a Prime version or a full BEV but sadly not even a hybrid version with make it to the USA any time soon, if ever.
A very cute little car. Dreadfully expensive for the size, Many Lexus customers would be hostile to this car. Yes it fits a need for an urban lifestyle, but at $40k out the door, it would raise some hackles.

You say its not appropriate for the US, but i think whats appropriate has changed. Id argue this would work here. I bet they think it would canablize Toyota sales and it would but who cares your giving the consumer what they want and if you carve out another slice of pie so what.
I have the sibling Yaris Cross (garaged in Greece). Fantastic car. Americans dont deserve such good fuel economy, with the cheap gas in the USA. Besides Lexus wants to rip you off on larger cars.
Wow, new Volvo xc30 just introduced in Europe, major bec competitor for the hybrid Lbx. That said, very very disappointed in the first photos of the xc30. Digital clusters suck, they are cheaper to make than real gauges and look trashy

Supposedly it's coming to NZ so hopefully that's a positive sign for Aussie.

Why is the US always stuck with the huge expensive models…. We like economical too wtf come oooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Premium gas or Regular?
Great question. Europe is mainly premium so I would say 91+ But it's a toyota hybrid, it'll run on nearly any fuel grade
Taillights remind me of storm trooper helmets.
If not selling oversea, Canada would snatch up the leftovers
It’s the Lexus CT200h successor! I miss my CT..
This would be a great platform for a 2.4 turbo GR version. Great design, profile. Classic, elegant lines.
Looks interesting. Glad to see the move (way too slowly) away from the spindle grill. Too bad not avail in N. America.

The side profile resembles the Mazda CX-3.

I'm sure it's gonna do well in Europe, Yaris Cross is the 6th best selling car in there.
5:45 not sure if you caught this, but Toyota shows it could achieve 47mpg or so (5 liters/100km) average which is really good if true.
Does a 3-cylinder Lexus sound right?
Extra balance shaft, extra rigid structure, extra sound insolation, yes, it will be Lexus quiet.
Does this replace the Lexus UX
Nope. It's smaller yet
And someday soon, perhaps, a GR-B???? What a kick that would be!!

It doesn't make sense they called it LBX and not just BX to match their naming convention.
