the viewing angles' purpose is to not let people look at your phone, like strangers. it's called opticontrast. so im really glad my xperia z is like that, and btw who would want to look at their phone in weird ways.
I happen to like the fact that the screen blurs when you look at it from an angle ;) it makes it more private I think :) I hate it when people are reading over my shoulder...
I'm watching this on my Xperia Z, great phone but somehow underrated, great display, I don't really care about the viewing angles, I didn't even notice that "problem" until I read it on the internet, watching movies is a blast, Sony apps are pretty good, especially walkman with the sound clearer and if you got good headphones the music experience is awesome, camera is simple to use and u can install addons, it is water resistant which is awesome, you are not afraid from a glass of water or raining, you can even take pictures in the water. Stamina mode is awesome and it saves a lot of battery and the price is very good for a top phone and updates are avaible constantly, Samsung keeps copying everything from Sony so why not try it out

I went from the s4 to the Z1s as soon as it was available. Hands down the best android phone I have used. Build quality is awesome and only thing that comes close is the HTC One. I love the extra weight and solid build. Battery lasts a day in a half and thats even using Pandora pretty much all day. I will give that the bezel is a little large but its a small trade off. Also, screw touchwiz... I would instantly root and put a new rom on... Have not felt the need to change from Sony's stock UI and it is real fast. If you are looking for a new phone go with the Z1!
well, I got Xperia Z..like 10 months from now.. Having problem with Battery the HD Screen consumes a lot of Battery like 66% and the rest is good.. although you should be careful with your phone even its Waterproof..the rubber ring at headphones is vulnerable. I will wait The Next flagship for 2014 will be Xperia Z2 it has IGZO Screen a low powered OLED panel. April 2014
In summer 2017 both fones are availlabel for about 130,00 from china. The z1 is just 2,00 more to be payed. I am getting a z1 from china for € 124,99 . I look so much forvard to getting it.

Looking forward to using the Z1 :D I think the Z is overall a better looking phone though and it would be nice if the Z1 had a headphone flap, too.

Well you can get an app on the play store for the Xperia Z called Aqua cam and it lets you use the volume up down buttons and other butoons as a dedicated camera button.

Nothing about the charger? Z1 comes with the magnetic charger so you wont have to peel open the plastic lid every time. The Z also has these "magnetic" connectors at the side but comes with standard USB charger. Sadly the Z1 magnetic charger does not fit on the Z. sup with that?
personally prefer the sharper edges, makes it feel more rigid when holding it, rather than the feeling that at any moment it could slip (not that the bevelled edges go to that extent, I was just adding flavour ;o )
I would love to see you compare the Z1 to the ZR to see if there's a significant difference between them.. besides the price!!! or maybe just a ZR review?? :D

I love my xperia Z!! It survived a dive in a waterfall, lake and my own bathroom. Its the best water resistant phone i ever had. Used it for 7 months now. Sad part of Z is the camera when using it at night and the flaps mine started to loosen and its no longer water resistance. Other thn that its awesome!!!
If anyone if wondering the z is perfectly good phone which iv had fir about 2 months now and is great, I personally see no need to pay out on a upgrade as the z is better than any other phones iv had in the past.

i was fan of metalic case, or any other premium material... but now, i think that is pointless, because most of people buy silicone case to protect phone, so there is no point in premium materials...

The only two things that were wrong with the Z was not having a camera button and not having a water proof headphone jack that was flap free.
