Just got the Xperia Z1 and I have to say... ITS FREAKIN AMAZING!!! So much better than the Note 3 not only from me but also a mate who has the Note 3. Sick Camera, Awesome Design, Impressive UI, and just feels real good on the hands. Definitely an eye catcher and an all round amazing phone. It is the best phone on the market right now.
I wouldn’t say that.. I know this was 8 years ago.. but my dad had the Note 3 and so did my mom. The phone offers 4K video recording, it has a great 1080x1920 Amoled display that aged well. It has a bigger screen and bigger battery. Xperia has a terrible viewing angle.
here is my personal opinion on why i will prefer sony compare to samsung. I have been using sgnote 1 for quiet some time and most of samsung device will be overheat due to excessive use or high end gaming which i don't like. But with sony xperia z1 even if it is heating you can always soak it in the water to cool it off the start playing again. hehehe
Note 3 is for officemen and worker who work in office.The Z1 is for musicians,adventures,tourist,PlayStation user,Walkman user,Bravia user,XBA and MDR user,Vaio user,artist and everyone whose know the Z1 is the best XD

If you are ok with the larger size of the Note 3 it wins. Most reviews ignore the IR blaster on the Note 3 which is a major convenience for me since I hate having to keep track of remotes to every TV in the house and being able to change channels on any TV anywhere at anytime. Other then that I hate not having physical buttons on a phone so a lot of Android phones are a no go for me. The Z1 is a better looking phone and does feel better in the hand but that goes away when you use a case and I use the Spigen slim case so it has a metal feel to my Note 3 anyways.
+Brandon Craufurd Please don't make random comments wrongly insulting a phone because you prefer the other phone. I'll gladly dispute your argument point-by-point. First point: Everyone here saying the Z1 is better than the Note 3 is a Sony fanboy saying "ZOMG SONY WINZ CUZ PLAYSTATIOOON." This is incorrect, many have switched from the popular Note series based on the premium look and feel many believe the Xperia Z1 to offer. I, for one, use Sony phones and use a variety of different electronic brands. I own the Xbox 360 and Xbox One and only own a PlayStation 2. Second point: The Note 3 is not a phone and you are not meant to make calls with it. While I do agree it doesn't quite feel like a phone, it is advertised as a phone or "phablet", a mix between a phone and tablet. The Note 3 comes stock with texting and calling applications while many tablets do not. Third point: The Sony Xperia Z1 is less durable than the Note 3 because it's made of glass. I refer you to watch Android Authority's drop test videos where it shows the Z1 surviving 5 foot falls on the touchscreen, back, top, and bottom of the phone with mere scratches, and no visible cracks on the touch screen. The Note 3 drop test from AA, however, survived the top, bottom, and back fall, but it's touchscreen was virtually unusable after it fell from five feet in the air. Fourth point: The Note 3 destroys the Z1 in terms of hardware in the same space as the Z1. This is completely untrue. The Note 3 and Z1 share the same processor (Snapdragon 800), with the Note 3 clocking in at 2.3 GHz and the Z1 clocking in at 2.2 GHz. .1 GHz on a phone in this day and age will not make a huge difference. The Note 3 has 3 GB of RAM while the Z1 has 2 GB of RAM. This is not a huge deal for the average to above average phone user running basic apps. However, the true gamer/social butterfly mix of a person may experience a bit more lag with an excessive number of apps open with the Z1 that they might not experience with the Note 3. The built-in Android Task Manager should fix any such problem rather quickly. The Note 3 carries a 13 MP main camera and 2 MP secondary camera, while the Xperia houses a 20.7 MP main camera and a 2 MP secondary camera. The Note 3 includes 16, 32, or 64 GB of memory whereas the Xperia Z1 carries a set memory of 16 GB, which isn't a big deal for most people, but if it is, both phones can be upgraded up to 64 GB of memory with a micro SD card, fixing any previous problems. Fifth point: The Note 3 has much better battery life. While this is indeed true (Note 3 getting about 21 hours of talk on 3G and Z1 getting about 15 hours of talk on 3G), a free download of a battery saver for either phone would be recommended for anybody who checks Facebook, texts frequently, or uses 4G. Someone at work should have no trouble getting through the work day with either phone before coming home. I'll leave you with these parting words: Just because someone may choose a phone over your choice, doesn't mean you should lash out with generally false facts, save a few that are over exaggerated. If you do lash out, you may end up just making yourself look like an idiot and "brand loving faggot" as you so eloquently put.
I'd like to dispute your dispute a bit now as well. First point: Even though my opinion could be biased because I have a Note 3 myself, you still cant say the Note 3 looks ugly or feels bad in your hand while using it. Most of the people who have tried my phone do say it's enormous, but say it still feels surprisingly comfortable. Also going after the size/dimensions of the two phones and saying that the Z1 is smaller and thus wins this argument, would be as retarded as to go into the performance of the two phones - they are quite equal in these fields and there's little to no difference at all. Second point: If we leave the size aside again, the Note 3 has absolutely no difference in the OS features when it comes to calling or texting - a Note 3 with Android 4.3 will have basically the exact same calling and texting features as the Z1 with the same 4.3, but with a different skin. The 'phablet' name would only refer to it's bigger-than-usual size, not the features of the phone itself. Third point: After having used the Note 3 for a while now, it has survived quite a few drops without any cracks or anything. A single drop test might show you how durable a phone could be, but you are still not going to drop it from 5ft most of the time. Leaving the size itself aside, the Note 3's rubber coated backside feels so much better in your hand than the Z1 glass back side does, meaning that with more grip in your hand, it's much more unlikely you are even going to drop it. Fourth point: It is true that there isn't much difference when it comes to raw performance, RAM or memory. This is a field that both of these phones are really quite equal on. But when you start going after the camera, don't forget that 20.7MP is only available in full manual mode and as a smartphone user you are going to use your auto-focus most of the time, having to leave the camera in 13MP mode on the Z1. Plus you could start boasting that the Note 3 has 4K and 720p@120fps video recording aswell, but these too are features you are not going to use all the time. Fifth point: Battery life is a feature of my Note 3 most of my friends really envy. All of us use our phone throughout the day for FB messaging, UA-cam, Instagram, Snapchat etc and blast music from Spotify at the same time. All of us have 3-4h+ of screen-on time on our phones by the end of the day (NB: This doesn't mean we only use our phones in a 3-4h time-frame, an average user won't have much more screen-on time throughout the day than this), but when they start saying on our group chat, that they have less than 5-10% of battery left, I'm still looking at my 30%+ and won't have to start thinking about really saving the battery. Also a battery saver on my Note 3 and on their 2012 LG G's and Xperia Z's would still mean that the difference between our battery lives stays the same. Conclusion: The only reason why I would buy the Z1 is the price. I only bought the Note 3 because of the larger display, Samsung Knox and because it had 4k video and 720p@120fps video. Plus I really like the S-pen, which any of the avid Snapchat users would love as well (for obvious reasons). If you want to buy a phone that looks great, buy an iPhone. If you want to get a phone that performs well, get either the Z1 or the Note 3 and really go into the features of the two phones before making your choice. If you have rather larger hands like I do, the size of the Note 3 will not bother you, because all the things you usually do with one hand on your phone can be done on the Note 3 as well without any problems. If you like to take a few underwater photos from time to time, get the Z1 but don't forget - making pictures in the ocean, sea or in the pool will void your warranty (don't ask me why, ask Sony, they have this problem with all their "waterproof" products) but nothing will probably happen to your phone. If you are a good photographer, you might find a slight difference in picture quality using full manual mode, but if you already have time to go into manual mode on the phone you would still take out your DSLR/SLR to take the picture. If you LIKE TO think that you are a really good photographer, get the Z1 because more pixels DEFINITELY makes you a much better photographer. Jokes aside, all of this would mean an average user will not be feeling any difference between the two phones - if you want auto-focus (which you probably will in most situations), you will be taking the same 13MP photos on both of the devices. If you like to play around with the 120fps slow-mo or the 4K video, get the Note 3. If you want to really secure any data you might be holding on your phone, get the Note 3. If you do not care for these features at all, you should already be looking at the Z1. Moving on the the colors, don't let the UA-cam comments fool you - you can still customize the Note 3's colors (from stock) and get rid of the over-saturated colors the Note 3 uses by default and set them to a much more life-like setting. Plus the 5.7 inch screen does have quite an advantage over any other phone with a smaller screen when you like to watch quite a lot of movies or videos on the go. Final word for anyone who is deciding between these two phones: if you wont be able to use the Note 3's additional features to their full extent, get the Z1 - it's quite a lot cheaper.

For every person who loves the looks, the features, User Interface, memory, battery life, carrier &/or price of the Z1.... there will be a hundred claiming to prefer the S-Note-3.. or even something else. The problem is saying one is "better than"...... esp. since it's mostly just a matter of preference & opinion, anyway.. ya know? I've had both of these & while I have my preference.. they both have their pro's & con's. Most of the time I'd even said, "Maaan, I love ---- about this one... If only it had ---- from the other, it would be a "perfect phone"!" We'll probably never get everything we want all on 1 phone.. Besides, there's always gonna be something bigger.. better.. & more advanced coming out. So until the next big thing-- whatever hardware, size, features, camera, UI, form factor.... works for YOU.... would absoluckinflutely be the best device there is;... AND.. the one to get! ツ
Sorry but note 3 beat xperia z1 from all aspects. Just looking at the colors and contrast note 3 wins (not to mention the beast 2.3 quad core processor and 3gb ram) but the only thing I see good about Xperia is it being "water resistant"
Haha Note 3 uses those cheap plastic! Doesn't even have the premium feel. The camera in note 3 is only 13 mp, whereas the z1 have 20.7 mp lol. I don't agree that note 3 beat xperia z1 in all aspects.

Joseph Chen however i still think the z1 is a good anough phone and it actually got better user ratings then the note 3. the z1 can also have a keyboard and a wireless camera which is way better then the phones camera. the z1 also has a better design and feel. even though the note 3s specs makes the z1 look bad dont forget that the iphone 5s outspeeds the note 3 and s4 with lower specs even though.. you know... its an iphone and i dont like iphones. and i khinda like the z1s display just because its a bit darker and doesnt get too dark. its just perfectly dark so i would actually perfer the z1.

Xperia Z1 is the Luxurious gadget on the Planet now, with premium hardware inside and outside, not plastic like note 3 with realistic prize, so you don't be dissapointed by the brand, so choose Xperia Z1 for your smartphone.
I have both, Z1 wins in build quality, camera and UI. N3 better battery life, better UI features. I guess it comes down to patriotism, do you go with SS or a better more solid more stylish and waterproof device. Neither my S4 nor N3 nor N2 nor One M7 can beat my Z1 but thats just my opinion.
Of course Note III is the best smartphone all over the world till now. If we compare it to any other smartphone, this will be unfair because we will humiliate the other one.

Z1 is much better. I had note 3 b4. Now m using z1. Planning to have z3 or the z2. Note 3 even it has the better specs... It is still laggy. 😀 but i enjoyed all the gimmicky functionality of note 3. But time will come you'll realized that you dont need it at all. And then you'll come to realized that it is much better to have a simple straight forward device. The screen is more natural with the z1. The battery is more long lasting than the note 3. Note 3 is better on paper specs. But when it comes in the actual usage you'll realized that z1 is better. The z1 camera is also better than note 3. In note 3 lots of time out of focus.... If you have a very stable hands note 3 is ok. But very little movement it will affects the camera picture will turn out to be blurred. On z1 it is more focus and clean. 😀 and the build quality z1 is way better than note 3. Note 3 the label of samsung sometimes it will just peel off. It was so desperately annoying weather you put a cover casing etc... Still it will just peal off. Go for sony if i we're you. 😀
I had the Note 3 before, the camera was incredible! I can't believe you had issues with it!!! 4k video was great too. I did blueprinting, CNC programming and everything on that phone. I also do a lot of drawing and it was great for that. The Z1 is nice, but I miss my Note 3 for sure.
Coloration is so different. Z1 produces much more realistic colors while samsung phone makes fakish and cartoonish pictures. Thats why im gone buy z1. And secondly desighn is not even comparable
had both phones, even if the size difference is not that big, regarding one hand usability I would recommend the sony, which is by the way better in real life than the note 3, the note 3 comes packed with tones of useless features that only eat up the ram and after a while become frustrating...they don't even work properly, except for the pen...If I had to chose from one of them I think I would go with the z1, the note3 got stuck pretty often during hard usage...and the ip58 is a must have if u don't only keep ur phone in your pocket or on a table that does not get wet.
Been using Samsung (Note series to be exact) for a couple of years now and I would say SS beats other smartphones out there with their vivid and very dynamic screen display. Every color is warm and is so pleasant to the eyes plus its UI is so user-friendly. But Z1's built and camera persuade me to have one. I am now waiting for my unit and I just can't wait to use it.
This is actually a thing that is mostly a personal preference. I too like the more vivid colors over the life-like colors that others might like. Saying that the Z1 has better picture is also quite stupid, because it seems that the video left out covering the option of changing your screen color settings.
I have a note 3 and can honestly say it is the best performing phone I ever seen and had. I've played with a numerous amount of phones including the z1, LG g2, LG g flex and the new HTC one m8. I could have picked any one of these phones but I went with the note 3. It has style and a great feel in my hands. The performance of the phone is just incredible. The screen is very sharp as well for being such a big screen. Plays all the best games with no lag as of what I have seen so far. Love this phone and I don't see myself switching to anything else.
This was such a tough one for me. Ever since I've heard of the note series I've been waiting for contracts end and finances to come in. I was a note 3 fan all the way but then Sony came out with the Xperia then the Xz1s. I've forgone buying a note 3 at least twice because I just can't decide. I don't think I can deny anymore that Sony really does just make a better product but until it gets features I want like the retinal recognition, S pen option, using it for a remote if I want and a watch that actually makes calls as well as take pictures. That I'm deciding to go with the Note 3.

I love my Z1, but really its what the phone does for the person buying it, if your stuck between these phones don't listen to the keyboard warriors on hear, just go for the one that has the best standout features for you. You won't be disappointed with either of them.
What's the big deal about over saturated colors on the note 3? Go into settings under display and switch to movie mode. Color representation will be much more realistic if you prefer that. I've had a note 3 for almost a month. I love the design, I love the screen. I have large hands. I even like touch whiz. The combined os and skin is very built and uses a lot of memory. Glass phones are not appealing to me anymore. To fragile.
Nice "like for like" comparison, considering that the Z1 is the equivalent of the S4, and NOT the Note 3! If you want a large screen device to compare, look at the Z Ultra, it's a 6.5" version of the Z :-P
i just recently sold my GS3. im getting a Z1 soon but im scared the fact that the Z1 may be to big for my hands and uncomfortable. Does anyone have advice for me before purchase?
The z1 has a sort of faded out look when you view it from an angle, it helps gives you privacy if you don't want people to look at your screen. Some people don't like it, but I think its an awesome idea. Unless you love sharing your phone with people a lot, most people are going to use it for there own personal use.
it's not about using it underwater, it's about everyday situations that would normally require you to pay careful attention to your phone not bothering you as much anymore
This comment is just plain stupid - the dimensions are almost the same on the two phones and for a 5 inch screen, the Z1 is the one that is far too big.
Cmpnioncube It was a metafor, kind of, in that comment i meant Z1 is better in so many ways. 1.waterproof, 2.Sony, you can play with PS3 control on it, & it is beautiful, Way better than all the phones i never used. And it has 20 mega pixel camera, that is awesome, my camera has 24 mega pixel, but a phone with a good camera i can use and put in the pocket is way better than carry the camera all the time. Sorry for this much text, but i just wanna share what i think about this phone and i think it is the best. And ya Z1 is bigger indeed, but it is worth that size to use, if you know what i mean. Kenny Gernelle There isn't much difference in size, I would say. Having owned the Note 3 for a while now, I haven't had any problems with the size so far. See one of my other comments under this video where I try to reason and analyze these two phones a bit. By the end of the day, we all learn to love what we have and that seems to be the exact case right here - me absolutely loving my Note 3 and you doing the same with your Z1. :)
Kenny Gernelle you can use a PS3 controller on any Android phone using Sixaxis app. But yeah the Z1 looks more sleek and sturdier then the Note 3 and I have always liked square phones over rounded phones (I loved my RAZR Maxx) it is just a shame how the Z1 is big in comparison to its screen, if the phone was proportion to its screen as the Note 3 it would be a much better design. Waterproof is cool, but most phones are basically waterproof with coated chipsets and just need to dry off if completely submerged in water.
Upgraded From my Acro S to Z1 and i have to say the updated Z1 is a beast! No lag, great camera, nice & simple UI, waterproof and shatter proof! If you drop it and the screen dies simply reset the phone it will function Properly ;)! Its camera takes better pictures than Any Other android smartphone camera in regular conditions and it does not need 3 gb of ram (no spen, gimmicks and touchwiz) a friend of mine has a note 3 it laggs occasionaly! Note 3 good but not the best after a While lagg on Those things will Become worse! Z1 All the way but dont believe me use/test both phones before buying! Z1 Bowwwwsssss

what i never had a problem with my acro s i droppen it many many many times with not a single problem! but the Z1 is a bigger overpowerd version of the acro s! everythings better (screen,camera and speed!!!!, waterproof with less flaps) the acro s was a fine smarphone the only reason i really needed an upgrade was because of the screen size! the only thing better on the acro s is the volume but thats it! Z1 is a beast pple stop & ask me what it is XD i love it when samsung and apple users ask me about ma Z1 XD! tha Z1 kicks ass left & right!
I compared both myself, and while the Z1 has a very good display, it no way can beat the GN3's color accuracy in anything from pictures to video to web browsing. Also, anyone can see that all the pictures shown are far better on the GN3 in detail, contrast, exposure, and color quality. This reviewer is color blind or he's just being dishonest about his results.
It's not better as per say, it's the same as comparing an LCD-TV with a Plasma. They both have theire strenghts and weaknesses :) Of course you can prefer one of them, yet they are none perfect.
I just got the z1, only wish it was smaller, besides that i love the phone. If you like phablets and how samsung's user interface is then you should choose note 3. Otherwise if you want more of a smartphone that has the same performance as the note 3 in a smart phone go with the Z1. :)
A phone with a 5-inch screen that has the same size of a phone with a 5.7 inch screen can not be considered well built. And no, i don't use my phone for underwater photos...
wait! the z1 is like the same size except the viewing screen is smaller on the z1. The rest of the z1 is just a waste of space. Makes no sense to say the z1 is compact when the actual size of the phone itself is near the same size
The Z1 doesnt feel comfortable in my pockets. To big for me to handle with one hand. The compact just fits better and doesnt hurt me when I go sit in my car when the phone is stilll in my pocket. Also the compact is easy to use with one hand. The differrence may be small but the functionality is of the compact works much better for me.

I couldn't help but notice every time the Note 3 is far superior to the Z1, he finds a compensatory factor to reduce from the evidence that Samsung has made a phone with features that people actually want in a Phablet device.

Another good review from 'Gru'...I find it weird that the Sony is only marginally smaller yet its screen is a fair bit smaller, also no replaceable battery is a bit of a bummer, It basically renders them as 'disposable phones'....something that shouldn't be associated with 'premium' phones, making the note3 is a FAR better choice. When are your minions going to do a review?
This guy forgot to put the Samsung in the water lool its clear he was paid to give us a Flawed description, the Z1 is a BEAST, Clearly ahead of its time. If he had put both phones in water his interview would have ended with Z1 obviously as the winner.

brought the z1 over the note 3. dun quite like the plastic thing at the back of note 3. it might get those sweat stain one day which is difficult to remove. i used to use htc but indeed those software lagg the phone a lot. if you ask me, i still feel that the padfone is good for everything, as its easy to use.
The Z1's half inch bezels are laughable, and the usable screen area is further reduced by the on-screen buttons. It's a feat indeed to make a phone almost as bulky as the Note 3 but with half the usable screen size. The Note 3 still images came out much sharper and with less motion blur in them. I suspect some problem with the video editor, because it should be the other way around according to your commentary.
I can't wait for a true sony ps network phone to beable to lets say Bluetooth or sync up with a vita or the ps4 just like to see whos online or who's playing what game an to see your friends trophies on your phone an exclusive ps downloadable games for a Sony phone with out having slide out controls just simple games would be cool cuz I'm really digging the vita. Now especially it syncs up with the ps 4

I have a Note 2 (almost identical in size to Note 3), I'm 5' 7" and the Note 2 fits in my jeans, trousers and jackets no problem. But I am changing to a Z1 - better camera and waterproof are MY reasons for changing to Z1.
***** I wanted to get the Z1 over the Note 3 aswell because of all the cool underwater pictures I wanted to take, but after doing some research on the internet, it turns out that the waterproofing is for fresh water only, which means you can use it in your kitchen sink... and that's pretty much it. It doesn't even stop there - they even void your warranty if they find out that you have been using it in the sea, ocean or in the pool. They actually try to do this all the time with all their "waterproof" products. And let's not forget, 20.7MP on the Z1 is only available in full manual mode and you are not going to use that when you need to take a quick picture of something because the autozoom would be switched off in full manual. Plus the Note 3 has 4K video and 720p@120fps, which might not mean much, but these are still features I now like to play around with from time to time.
It fits in normal mens jeans and pants with a case. For women my wife has it half way hanging out her pocket. If the Note 3 didn't exist I would seriously give the Sony Z1 a look. However, that is not the case. After a year of sales I'm quite sure the Note 3 will have outsold the Z1. Sadly there just anything on the market right now that even comes close to the versatility of the Note 3.

2) Radio
3) Solid phone
4) Easier android interface
5) More easier to carry
6) Outstanding camera
7) Natural screen output
Just got the Xperia Z1 and I have to say... ITS FREAKIN AMAZING!!! So much better than the Note 3 not only from me but also a mate who has the Note 3. Sick Camera, Awesome Design, Impressive UI, and just feels real good on the hands. Definitely an eye catcher and an all round amazing phone. It is the best phone on the market right now.
I wouldn’t say that.. I know this was 8 years ago.. but my dad had the Note 3 and so did my mom.
The phone offers 4K video recording, it has a great 1080x1920 Amoled display that aged well. It has a bigger screen and bigger battery. Xperia has a terrible viewing angle.
here is my personal opinion on why i will prefer sony compare to samsung. I have been using sgnote 1 for quiet some time and most of samsung device will be overheat due to excessive use or high end gaming which i don't like. But with sony xperia z1 even if it is heating you can always soak it in the water to cool it off the start playing again. hehehe
because it is build for more entertainment features tho :) unlike note 3 had a working space option

If you are ok with the larger size of the Note 3 it wins. Most reviews ignore the IR blaster on the Note 3 which is a major convenience for me since I hate having to keep track of remotes to every TV in the house and being able to change channels on any TV anywhere at anytime. Other then that I hate not having physical buttons on a phone so a lot of Android phones are a no go for me.
The Z1 is a better looking phone and does feel better in the hand but that goes away when you use a case and I use the Spigen slim case so it has a metal feel to my Note 3 anyways.
***** If you are going after the best UI, you are probably going to root your phone anyway.

Please don't make random comments wrongly insulting a phone because you prefer the other phone. I'll gladly dispute your argument point-by-point.
First point: Everyone here saying the Z1 is better than the Note 3 is a Sony fanboy saying "ZOMG SONY WINZ CUZ PLAYSTATIOOON." This is incorrect, many have switched from the popular Note series based on the premium look and feel many believe the Xperia Z1 to offer. I, for one, use Sony phones and use a variety of different electronic brands. I own the Xbox 360 and Xbox One and only own a PlayStation 2.
Second point: The Note 3 is not a phone and you are not meant to make calls with it. While I do agree it doesn't quite feel like a phone, it is advertised as a phone or "phablet", a mix between a phone and tablet. The Note 3 comes stock with texting and calling applications while many tablets do not.
Third point: The Sony Xperia Z1 is less durable than the Note 3 because it's made of glass. I refer you to watch Android Authority's drop test videos where it shows the Z1 surviving 5 foot falls on the touchscreen, back, top, and bottom of the phone with mere scratches, and no visible cracks on the touch screen. The Note 3 drop test from AA, however, survived the top, bottom, and back fall, but it's touchscreen was virtually unusable after it fell from five feet in the air.
Fourth point: The Note 3 destroys the Z1 in terms of hardware in the same space as the Z1. This is completely untrue. The Note 3 and Z1 share the same processor (Snapdragon 800), with the Note 3 clocking in at 2.3 GHz and the Z1 clocking in at 2.2 GHz. .1 GHz on a phone in this day and age will not make a huge difference. The Note 3 has 3 GB of RAM while the Z1 has 2 GB of RAM. This is not a huge deal for the average to above average phone user running basic apps. However, the true gamer/social butterfly mix of a person may experience a bit more lag with an excessive number of apps open with the Z1 that they might not experience with the Note 3. The built-in Android Task Manager should fix any such problem rather quickly. The Note 3 carries a 13 MP main camera and 2 MP secondary camera, while the Xperia houses a 20.7 MP main camera and a 2 MP secondary camera. The Note 3 includes 16, 32, or 64 GB of memory whereas the Xperia Z1 carries a set memory of 16 GB, which isn't a big deal for most people, but if it is, both phones can be upgraded up to 64 GB of memory with a micro SD card, fixing any previous problems.
Fifth point: The Note 3 has much better battery life. While this is indeed true (Note 3 getting about 21 hours of talk on 3G and Z1 getting about 15 hours of talk on 3G), a free download of a battery saver for either phone would be recommended for anybody who checks Facebook, texts frequently, or uses 4G. Someone at work should have no trouble getting through the work day with either phone before coming home.
I'll leave you with these parting words: Just because someone may choose a phone over your choice, doesn't mean you should lash out with generally false facts, save a few that are over exaggerated. If you do lash out, you may end up just making yourself look like an idiot and "brand loving faggot" as you so eloquently put.
I'd like to dispute your dispute a bit now as well.
First point: Even though my opinion could be biased because I have a Note 3 myself, you still cant say the Note 3 looks ugly or feels bad in your hand while using it. Most of the people who have tried my phone do say it's enormous, but say it still feels surprisingly comfortable. Also going after the size/dimensions of the two phones and saying that the Z1 is smaller and thus wins this argument, would be as retarded as to go into the performance of the two phones - they are quite equal in these fields and there's little to no difference at all.
Second point: If we leave the size aside again, the Note 3 has absolutely no difference in the OS features when it comes to calling or texting - a Note 3 with Android 4.3 will have basically the exact same calling and texting features as the Z1 with the same 4.3, but with a different skin. The 'phablet' name would only refer to it's bigger-than-usual size, not the features of the phone itself.
Third point: After having used the Note 3 for a while now, it has survived quite a few drops without any cracks or anything. A single drop test might show you how durable a phone could be, but you are still not going to drop it from 5ft most of the time. Leaving the size itself aside, the Note 3's rubber coated backside feels so much better in your hand than the Z1 glass back side does, meaning that with more grip in your hand, it's much more unlikely you are even going to drop it.
Fourth point: It is true that there isn't much difference when it comes to raw performance, RAM or memory. This is a field that both of these phones are really quite equal on. But when you start going after the camera, don't forget that 20.7MP is only available in full manual mode and as a smartphone user you are going to use your auto-focus most of the time, having to leave the camera in 13MP mode on the Z1. Plus you could start boasting that the Note 3 has 4K and 720p@120fps video recording aswell, but these too are features you are not going to use all the time.
Fifth point: Battery life is a feature of my Note 3 most of my friends really envy. All of us use our phone throughout the day for FB messaging, UA-cam, Instagram, Snapchat etc and blast music from Spotify at the same time. All of us have 3-4h+ of screen-on time on our phones by the end of the day (NB: This doesn't mean we only use our phones in a 3-4h time-frame, an average user won't have much more screen-on time throughout the day than this), but when they start saying on our group chat, that they have less than 5-10% of battery left, I'm still looking at my 30%+ and won't have to start thinking about really saving the battery. Also a battery saver on my Note 3 and on their 2012 LG G's and Xperia Z's would still mean that the difference between our battery lives stays the same.
Conclusion:
The only reason why I would buy the Z1 is the price. I only bought the Note 3 because of the larger display, Samsung Knox and because it had 4k video and 720p@120fps video. Plus I really like the S-pen, which any of the avid Snapchat users would love as well (for obvious reasons). If you want to buy a phone that looks great, buy an iPhone. If you want to get a phone that performs well, get either the Z1 or the Note 3 and really go into the features of the two phones before making your choice. If you have rather larger hands like I do, the size of the Note 3 will not bother you, because all the things you usually do with one hand on your phone can be done on the Note 3 as well without any problems. If you like to take a few underwater photos from time to time, get the Z1 but don't forget - making pictures in the ocean, sea or in the pool will void your warranty (don't ask me why, ask Sony, they have this problem with all their "waterproof" products) but nothing will probably happen to your phone. If you are a good photographer, you might find a slight difference in picture quality using full manual mode, but if you already have time to go into manual mode on the phone you would still take out your DSLR/SLR to take the picture. If you LIKE TO think that you are a really good photographer, get the Z1 because more pixels DEFINITELY makes you a much better photographer. Jokes aside, all of this would mean an average user will not be feeling any difference between the two phones - if you want auto-focus (which you probably will in most situations), you will be taking the same 13MP photos on both of the devices. If you like to play around with the 120fps slow-mo or the 4K video, get the Note 3. If you want to really secure any data you might be holding on your phone, get the Note 3. If you do not care for these features at all, you should already be looking at the Z1. Moving on the the colors, don't let the UA-cam comments fool you - you can still customize the Note 3's colors (from stock) and get rid of the over-saturated colors the Note 3 uses by default and set them to a much more life-like setting. Plus the 5.7 inch screen does have quite an advantage over any other phone with a smaller screen when you like to watch quite a lot of movies or videos on the go.
Final word for anyone who is deciding between these two phones: if you wont be able to use the Note 3's additional features to their full extent, get the Z1 - it's quite a lot cheaper.

Z1 is much better. I had note 3 b4. Now m using z1. Planning to have z3 or the z2. Note 3 even it has the better specs... It is still laggy. 😀 but i enjoyed all the gimmicky functionality of note 3. But time will come you'll realized that you dont need it at all. And then you'll come to realized that it is much better to have a simple straight forward device. The screen is more natural with the z1. The battery is more long lasting than the note 3. Note 3 is better on paper specs. But when it comes in the actual usage you'll realized that z1 is better. The z1 camera is also better than note 3. In note 3 lots of time out of focus.... If you have a very stable hands note 3 is ok. But very little movement it will affects the camera picture will turn out to be blurred. On z1 it is more focus and clean. 😀 and the build quality z1 is way better than note 3. Note 3 the label of samsung sometimes it will just peel off. It was so desperately annoying weather you put a cover casing etc... Still it will just peal off. Go for sony if i we're you. 😀
I had the Note 3 before, the camera was incredible! I can't believe you had issues with it!!! 4k video was great too. I did blueprinting, CNC programming and everything on that phone. I also do a lot of drawing and it was great for that. The Z1 is nice, but I miss my Note 3 for sure.

Coloration is so different. Z1 produces much more realistic colors while samsung phone makes fakish and cartoonish pictures. Thats why im gone buy z1. And secondly desighn is not even comparable

had both phones, even if the size difference is not that big, regarding one hand usability I would recommend the sony, which is by the way better in real life than the note 3, the note 3 comes packed with tones of useless features that only eat up the ram and after a while become frustrating...they don't even work properly, except for the pen...If I had to chose from one of them I think I would go with the z1, the note3 got stuck pretty often during hard usage...and the ip58 is a must have if u don't only keep ur phone in your pocket or on a table that does not get wet.

Been using Samsung (Note series to be exact) for a couple of years now and I would say SS beats other smartphones out there with their vivid and very dynamic screen display. Every color is warm and is so pleasant to the eyes plus its UI is so user-friendly. But Z1's built and camera persuade me to have one. I am now waiting for my unit and I just can't wait to use it.
This is actually a thing that is mostly a personal preference. I too like the more vivid colors over the life-like colors that others might like. Saying that the Z1 has better picture is also quite stupid, because it seems that the video left out covering the option of changing your screen color settings.
You can also use your Sony under water... How do you leave a thing like that out? Under water video etc.etc.
I have a note 3 and can honestly say it is the best performing phone I ever seen and had. I've played with a numerous amount of phones including the z1, LG g2, LG g flex and the new HTC one m8. I could have picked any one of these phones but I went with the note 3. It has style and a great feel in my hands. The performance of the phone is just incredible. The screen is very sharp as well for being such a big screen. Plays all the best games with no lag as of what I have seen so far. Love this phone and I don't see myself switching to anything else.

This was such a tough one for me. Ever since I've heard of the note series I've been waiting for contracts end and finances to come in. I was a note 3 fan all the way but then Sony came out with the Xperia then the Xz1s. I've forgone buying a note 3 at least twice because I just can't decide. I don't think I can deny anymore that Sony really does just make a better product but until it gets features I want like the retinal recognition, S pen option, using it for a remote if I want and a watch that actually makes calls as well as take pictures. That I'm deciding to go with the Note 3.

What's the big deal about over saturated colors on the note 3? Go into settings under display and switch to movie mode. Color representation will be much more realistic if you prefer that. I've had a note 3 for almost a month. I love the design, I love the screen. I have large hands. I even like touch whiz. The combined os and skin is very built and uses a lot of memory. Glass phones are not appealing to me anymore. To fragile.
Nice "like for like" comparison, considering that the Z1 is the equivalent of the S4, and NOT the Note 3!
If you want a large screen device to compare, look at the Z Ultra, it's a 6.5" version of the Z :-P

The z1 has a sort of faded out look when you view it from an angle, it helps gives you privacy if you don't want people to look at your screen. Some people don't like it, but I think its an awesome idea. Unless you love sharing your phone with people a lot, most people are going to use it for there own personal use.

Kenny Gernelle There isn't much difference in size, I would say. Having owned the Note 3 for a while now, I haven't had any problems with the size so far. See one of my other comments under this video where I try to reason and analyze these two phones a bit. By the end of the day, we all learn to love what we have and that seems to be the exact case right here - me absolutely loving my Note 3 and you doing the same with your Z1. :)
Kenny Gernelle you can use a PS3 controller on any Android phone using Sixaxis app. But yeah the Z1 looks more sleek and sturdier then the Note 3 and I have always liked square phones over rounded phones (I loved my RAZR Maxx) it is just a shame how the Z1 is big in comparison to its screen, if the phone was proportion to its screen as the Note 3 it would be a much better design. Waterproof is cool, but most phones are basically waterproof with coated chipsets and just need to dry off if completely submerged in water.

No lag, great camera, nice & simple UI, waterproof and shatter proof! If you drop it and the screen dies simply reset the phone it will function Properly ;)!
Its camera takes better pictures than Any Other android smartphone camera in regular conditions and it does not need 3 gb of ram (no spen, gimmicks and touchwiz) a friend of mine has a note 3 it laggs occasionaly!

I currently own an xperia z1 and have now purchased the galaxy note 3 because I just prefer the larger screen!
I compared both myself, and while the Z1 has a very good display, it no way can beat the GN3's color accuracy in anything from pictures to video to web browsing. Also, anyone can see that all the pictures shown are far better on the GN3 in detail, contrast, exposure, and color quality. This reviewer is color blind or he's just being dishonest about his results.
The colors look WAY better on the Note 3 (unless if the Xperia's brightness is set on low) but the design sexiness I would go for the Xperia.
It's not better as per say, it's the same as comparing an LCD-TV with a Plasma. They both have theire strenghts and weaknesses :)
Of course you can prefer one of them, yet they are none perfect.

I just got the z1, only wish it was smaller, besides that i love the phone. If you like phablets and how samsung's user interface is then you should choose note 3. Otherwise if you want more of a smartphone that has the same performance as the note 3 in a smart phone go with the Z1. :)

The Z1 doesnt feel comfortable in my pockets. To big for me to handle with one hand. The compact just fits better and doesnt hurt me when I go sit in my car when the phone is stilll in my pocket. Also the compact is easy to use with one hand. The differrence may be small but the functionality is of the compact works much better for me.
I got my note 3 3 weeks ago it is really fantastic it has a great battery and a great display with soo many features :)

I couldn't help but notice every time the Note 3 is far superior to the Z1, he finds a compensatory factor to reduce from the evidence that Samsung has made a phone with features that people actually want in a Phablet device.

LOL. I am watching your review and at 03:30 I am thinking you have the note3 and Z1 phones mixed up while describing the screens. The image on the note3 is infinitely better "unpleasantly bluewish, or greenish"? I don't think you should review screens if you are color blind.

no, they show movie clips in other channels Its just that this channel shows the same animation clip always which makes it hard to differentiate the color tones
Another good review from 'Gru'...I find it weird that the Sony is only marginally smaller yet its screen is a fair bit smaller, also no replaceable battery is a bit of a bummer, It basically renders them as 'disposable phones'....something that shouldn't be associated with 'premium' phones, making the note3 is a FAR better choice.

This guy forgot to put the Samsung in the water lool its clear he was paid to give us a Flawed description, the Z1 is a BEAST, Clearly ahead of its time.
If he had put both phones in water his interview would have ended with Z1 obviously as the winner.

brought the z1 over the note 3. dun quite like the plastic thing at the back of note 3. it might get those sweat stain one day which is difficult to remove. i used to use htc but indeed those software lagg the phone a lot. if you ask me, i still feel that the padfone is good for everything, as its easy to use.
The Z1's half inch bezels are laughable, and the usable screen area is further reduced by the on-screen buttons. It's a feat indeed to make a phone almost as bulky as the Note 3 but with half the usable screen size.
The Note 3 still images came out much sharper and with less motion blur in them. I suspect some problem with the video editor, because it should be the other way around according to your commentary.
I can't wait for a true sony ps network phone to beable to lets say Bluetooth or sync up with a vita or the ps4 just like to see whos online or who's playing what game an to see your friends trophies on your phone an exclusive ps downloadable games for a Sony phone with out having slide out controls just simple games would be cool cuz I'm really digging the vita. Now especially it syncs up with the ps 4

I have a Note 2 (almost identical in size to Note 3), I'm 5' 7" and the Note 2 fits in my jeans, trousers and jackets no problem. But I am changing to a Z1 - better camera and waterproof are MY reasons for changing to Z1.
Yes it does, even with a Spiegen Neo Hybrid case theres no problem fitting it in my pocket.
***** I wanted to get the Z1 over the Note 3 aswell because of all the cool underwater pictures I wanted to take, but after doing some research on the internet, it turns out that the waterproofing is for fresh water only, which means you can use it in your kitchen sink... and that's pretty much it. It doesn't even stop there - they even void your warranty if they find out that you have been using it in the sea, ocean or in the pool. They actually try to do this all the time with all their "waterproof" products. And let's not forget, 20.7MP on the Z1 is only available in full manual mode and you are not going to use that when you need to take a quick picture of something because the autozoom would be switched off in full manual. Plus the Note 3 has 4K video and 720p@120fps, which might not mean much, but these are still features I now like to play around with from time to time.
It fits in normal mens jeans and pants with a case. For women my wife has it half way hanging out her pocket. If you have a high chance to drop your phone in water, prefer to use a phone without a case the Z1 is an obvious pick,
If you want a larger screen, physical buttons, removable battery, IR blaster to control any TV or set top, or want a stylus to draw the Note 3 is the hands down choice.

If the Note 3 didn't exist I would seriously give the Sony Z1 a look. However, that is not the case. After a year of sales I'm quite sure the Note 3 will have outsold the Z1. Sadly there just anything on the market right now that even comes close to the versatility of the Note 3.
