Cant wait. Since I got a Les Paul JR. my SG Junior is up for sale. Can't wait to hear your comparison. You always do a great job.
Love them both.. thanks for sharing..
now THIS is exactly what I'm talking about when I say I love P90s, but not the ones in my guitar!
I have a PRS SE Soapbar II and those P90s are underwhelming output wise and concurrently have a narrow frequency range, but the pickups are consistently like that in almost every PRS SE I've played, even the humbucker ones 🤷
I got a 2019 SG Jr. it’s the lightest guitar I’ve ever played and that’s probably my favorite part about it. I have a non comp bridge on mine. I started out on a thinner/modern c shaped neck so the Slim neck on the SG doesn’t bother me all that much. It’s my first Gibson guitar and I’m pretty happy with it. It stays in tune surprisingly well considering the tuning instability that Gibson is known for. It’s definitely over priced though and that’s the only reason why I’m hesitant to buy another one in the future. There’s so many options out there for a better price
I think if the fat neck was on the SG Junior it would be a perfect guitar. In my opinion I am more comfortable with the feel of the extended neck. But the slim taper seems so uncomfortable. I did not notice much of a sound difference on your playing but with my SG and Les Paul Juniors I thought my Les Paul Junior was more mellow. I just could not see me keeping the SG only because it is a bit of a collectors piece so it went down the road. Great video as usual. I have been waiting for this one.
I have both guitars and love them. However, there's something about that SG Junior. It must be the thin body, but the SG is just a little pokier. I get much more aggressive tones out of it, which makes me gravitate to it more often. You do bring up a great point about the body style. I definitely don't feel the transition from one SG to another as much. But I honestly don't like playing normal Les Pauls. I come from the Clash school of rock and roll, and that damn pickup switch is always in my way!
