I never understood why Jesse thought it was a good idea to put the keys in the ignition. Jesse definitely wasn’t a genius, but he was far from stupid, and nobody would think to put the keys in the ignition instead of on the dash, in the glovebox, or in the pocket of your pants. It’s not like someone’s gonna steal them if they’re left on the dash. And considering how baggy his pants were, it’s not like there wasn’t any room or something.
My favourite part of this scene is the GIGANTIC *empty* dashboard Jesse could put the keys on instead of in the ignition. He really was a moron back then.

I mean Walt isn’t wrong, the work station has a bunch of chemicals which probably would’ve corroded or dissolved the keys. Jesse should’ve put them in the compartment box on the passenger side. Although to be fair, Walter should’ve at least made sure the keys were in a safe place in the span of two days.
