Vargas was good but Trinidad , Oscar, Mosley were elite and the best fighters from 135-147 in that era and he lost to all of them by either TKO or kO because they were All better than him . The best win in his resume against an elite top contender of that era was vs Ike Quartey . He also has a win against winky wright on his resume but I think winky won that fight by just a little

@@joel8692He was 21 when he fiudht trinidad , his career was rushed. He fought trinidad when Trinidad was a destroyer . Vargas did not have the experience for that at the time. He was not ready. He wasnt the same after that

to this day, not sure who won,a friend said: at best Vargas by a tied...Wink didnt have one punch KO power like myself yet i favor his pressure style, defense, high guard, stance ...he was a natural Orthodox yet fought unorthodox...wink took alot of shots on this fight though ...Great to see these warriors in their prime...that character yelling : Wooo everytime Wink connected is funny even after all these years...if you can find Winks fights with Simone Brown, Bronco, and Jarmine Taylor were wars! glad Wink made some good coin vs Trinidad and he showcases his style against a formidable opponent on that fight ...

Good evening the few comments l just read reminded me that casuals are more prone to silly comments than real fans. Every boxing knowledgeable that made comments after this fight was uncomfortable with the decision. Winky lost on the judges cards only. Winky offered to fight him again when Winky became champion winner take all . The Vargas didn't want no part of Winky again after this fight.

Shame avoided Winky for years. And we all saw why once they got into the ring together. Winky basically took Shame apart in the first fight, and beat him convincingly in the second fight. Winky vs Oscar would have been a helluva fight. Nobody was a class above anybody in regards to those two.

Vargas is an above good boxer, but not a great fighter. He lost to boxers that went up in weight,like Mosley n Trinidad.
He fought Winky when he was 21 and fought Trinidad at 22. Vargas could of had a better career if he wasn't fed to the wolves as a pupp. If he had someone like Mayweather managing his career he would have been like 40-0
He fought against winky when he was 22 and already a world champion and he fought Trinidad at 23 and Oscar at 24. So what ur saying is that if his handlers didn't match him against the best fighters In his division he would have never Lost? Jamie munguia had undefeated record of 43-0 because he had never fought an elite or top fighter in his career and in his first fight against an elite fighter he lost vs canelo. Having an undefeated record doesn't mean anything if ur not fighting the best fighters in ur division.
