I think it was more that Foreman expected Trinidad to come alive and win as the fight went on. Trinidad was known for his late game prowess, so there was some substance to that assumption. And to be fair Hopkins was a heavy underdog, it wasn't only Foreman who backed Trinidad. Foreman, to his credit, did change his position to pro-Hopkins as the fight progressed, and admitted on air he was completely wrong at the fight's end.
