@@solmccullough excuse the dude below acting like a complete asshole about your question but generally the letter is the chord that you are making or where your first finger goes in the chord which would tell you if it was g. If you don't know the notes on your fret board I recommend you learn it will make some chords 10x easier. Anyways thanks for the question
