i hate the A chord with a fiery passion
dont give up
You think that's bad? I hear that the 7th and diminished chords are really hard.
Try the F chord, and you’ll know real hatred.
@@Goofballhero I never play the open F chord, I just use the power chord. Much much easier and sounds the exact same. Well, not the EXACT same, but 99% of people would never notice the difference in sound.
Yeah, the "F" chord is definitely not one of my favorites either, LOL. I think I would take an "A" chord instead any day.. Take care friends.
Every time I play it I can't help but remember "the fingers you have used to dial are too fat" from Simpsons 😭
Justin, thanks for showing everyone how to play the A chord! The way you are showing makes it so much easier to go to the D or the E chord.
Absolutely
that works much better for my chunky fingers! Thanks.
You're welcome. :)
Depends on where you're coming from and where you're going.
Sure does. 👍🏼
There's a easiest way to play the A cord with the pinkie finger and the middle fingers
Just saying😃
This must be a European thing I've never seen anyone here do it like that. I've tried it and it's needlessly complicated and hard positioning your fingers this way
No, not european. Its just a form. I studied it 1-2-3 finger, not 2-1-3. The all guitar studybook teach it 1-2-3 form. I think anybody can use the all form, depend on comfortable or not.
(But i'never seen it before too.)
Right I’m sitting here watching the video and and sceptical cuz I never learned it that way
I've been playing 20 years and this takes me back, trust me wait until you get to lead playing lol
I switched to this as soon as I saw you doing it. So much better and actually helps it ring out. How was I not using it befoe!?!
Same here.
This is the best way
I don’t get it 😢
@pamelawilson6831 why ? Just do the shape .
Thank you so much I was struggling before but now I can play A major easily.
Come along with me🎶
Ive got to try this!
This is how i played this chord at the begigning of my way. Then i watched videos people playing this chord and i start to play it the way they do it, and it was hard to me. Now you show me the righ way of doing it!! Thay you a looooooot!!!)))))))))
Nice! Thanks for helping usd
What does the R 5 R 3 5 at the bottom mean?
Ty❤❤❤
It's very easy thank sir for learning me right way ❤❤❤😊😊
Thank you
I just use two fingers over 3 strings, works for me.
thank uuu it helps a loooooot!
Very nice
I love it
BEAUTIFUL
Thanky u sir🙏♥️🇳🇵
I play it that way, but most people play it a couple of other ways. This way you can easily walk down on the third string the AMaj, then A7Dominant.
Love this guy.
do we have to press fingers on frets or just touch have to touch fret
I am going to show this to my 10 year old daughter. She just had her first lesson yesterday. The only chords we're working on yet are the E-A-D set. Just working on getting a clear strum, starting with part chords with 1 finger and building. She's finding it tricky, of course. Most of us did. But she's slowly getting them. This is a great visual, with a great explanation. It'll help her.
You should check out Justin’s free online guitar course. It’s a great course for beginners.
@@kerbyfab Oh, I'm well aware of it. :) I'm subscribed to his channel. That's how I knew about this short. I suspect there are VERY few people watching this short that don't know what Justin is all about.
@@seanbaines Good point!
When I play that chord my fingers feel like a fat man in a phone booth 😂😅
I've NEVER played the A like that! I play with 1st finger on 4th, 2nd on third and third on second or sometimes 2nd finger on 4th, 3rd on 3rd and pinkie on second
I play this chord with my index finger only.
It works ok. I have huge fingers.
I think u should do 234 which is easy for cord change
What apps do you use to put the notes up there in the videos?
I either use my index finger or my ring finger to lay across all 3 strings and occasionally use the method in the video for quck changes on an acoustic or an electric guitar. No way is wrong, it's whatever works best for the player... ✌🏼
WRONG FINGERING...THE Bb ? Or C barre Chord? for next chords
That fingering is perfect for going to open d , e. Its the quickest
Wow😊❤
Come along with me……!
Damn i never thought of doing it this way haha
When i have my index so high on the fretboard like you show my 3rd string is always muted
Best 🥰🎤🎸
I got my guitar a few weeks ago and this is the only video that’s actually helped me🥲
I've been playing it wrong. Thanks!
I did it with one finger. 50 years. You'll have to unlearn this guy's method if you ever want to play fast or efficiently. Bar chords will force you to the same.
I have been watching this short and attempting this for four solid months. I haven’t played a freaking decent a major chord, yet. The G string is completely dead, and I cannot figure out how to fix it.
I wish i know this sooner
Come along with me
Thanks!
Welcome! And thank you!
Hi
Yess
For a left-handed player it's easier to do two fingers one finger and just get her done that
I notice a lot people I see on UA-cam in guitar videos don’t play A major chord
Please i need to learn
My fingers are too fat to fit in one fret I wanna cry so badly
Hey Justin , I just bought my first guitar with zero knowledge about it or about music. someone recommended your channel, but I have no idea where to start so many playlists. Can u please recommend where to start ?
A common question for people just starting out with their first guitar. I wholly recommend that you learn from Justin’s excellent Beginner Course - it is structured and step-by-step on the website rather than random on UA-cam. www.justinguitar.com/site-map-and-lesson-structure
Cheers 😊 | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Approved Teacher
I learnt it the 1,2,3 way…. But now I just use the index finger to fret all 3 strings and mute the low E with my thumb and high E with my index finger… easy peasy lemon squuuuueeeeeezzzzeeeeee
COME ALONG WITH ME?!?!!
Oops been doing differently since 72😂
Hi can you show us how to do the cords to the song iam 5’7 by TJ Mack

What does the R5R35 refer to?
A
Thanks have no lessons and im a bit upset might help me get some shut eye
1st and 2nd finger should switch
Justin explains his rationale (anchor finger) here: www.justinguitar.com/guitar-lessons/how-to-play-the-a-chord-b1-108

Tof van je
Omg a freaking time I play this chord my finger slips and it sounds weird 😂 I got big sausages for fingers😂😂😂
So-, how do you keep the back of your fingers from touching the strings behind it? When I do the A chord it always ends up leaving the second to last string sounding muted.
Is it just hand posture and practice or am I doing it wrong-?
did you ever find a way to correct it?
Hi, does it matter much which fingers one uses for this chord (or any other actually)?
Justin teaches the fingerings in certain ways for certain reasons. Check here for more: www.justinguitar.com/modules/a-d-chords-play-your-first-song

I can play an a cord with two fingers. Much easier and more comfortable.
I can't fit my big fingers all in the same fret
I’m taking offense to that lil parenthesized statement
Brothers Mujhe Terry Boll
Wrong position
I just bar it
Wrong way you can play it with your forefinger simple barre chord
19 years later I realise I've been playing wrong
The way he is playing it is "wrong", technically not wrong, but a pretty bad way to voice a simple A chord lol
There's a few ways but this way is best for transition to d , e . Second nature with enough practice
I don't know if my fingers are too fat, my guitars too small or whatever, I'm genuinely just so frustrated
I could play the same chord over and over. It would always have a different sound. Either it buzzes, gets blocked, or becomes a low note when it's supposed to be high
@zerofiber3551 any improvement?
Play A chord and play A#. You need to change the fingure again to change. Dnt make complex, make it easy and comfortable. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hurts my fingers so bad
No way
OMG ...I did it wrong for 45 years🥺🥺🥺
I did it 123...
123 is easier to play than this version ( if you just turn your wrist a little), and you can get all three fingers close to the fret.
Para que complicarse la vida?
Because this makes changing chords between A D and E easier
hallo
Would not play the a cord like that but ok make it more complicated.
There are different choices of fingering. Justin explains the rationale here: www.justinguitar.com/guitar-lessons/how-to-play-the-a-chord-b1-108

Major chord or Minor chord ?.
A major.

How hard do I press
Only as hard as necessary. Applying too much excessive force is only bad for you and you risk pressing the notes too hard and they will sound sharp (a bit too high in pitch) | I sense you will benefit from this video too: www.justinguitar.com/guitar-lessons/positive-finger-placement-b1-103 | LievenDV | JustinGuitar Official Guide, Approved Teacher & Community Moderator
thanks for teaching me I was confused
so did i waste my money buying this guitar? My fingers are too fat to hold a string down without interfering with one or both on either side.
Or is there maybe some trick i am missing?
@@michaelgrantham1871 try using a single finger to press down on the 3 strings
So I've been playing guitar for almost 3 years, AND IVE BEEN PLAYING THE A CHORD WRONG THIS WHOLE TIME? I always played it 1 2 3 instead of 2 1 3 lol
You weren't playing it wrong, my friend. You were playing at the way most instructors teach it. I learned it the way Justin shows and it's so much easier to go to the D and the E chords.
This is the best way that all instructors should each. Luckily my book showed me this way and why .
That is chord require a lot of practice playing fast chords is not the best idea
Wrong way to play A chords 😅
Or just barre the 3 strings like most savages do
Not correct
Not for beginners
They don't friggin fit damn it🤬🤬🤬
I donot like this position
Nope
Hate it .. such small place to fit in your fat fingers 😂😂😂😂.. who invented A chord looking for him 😂😂😂
The Waffle House has found its new host
I find it easier to play it like XX234X
What's wrong with pressing The Three cords with One finger like normal people do..🤔
It's hard to embellish and decorate that kind of A chord. your "fretboard mobility" is limited as soon as you need to branch out. Example: As soon as you start to cycle thorugh A-A7-Asus2-Asus4 on a bar of regular A to spice it up, the barred version will be holding you back. | LievenDV | JustinGuitar Official Guide, Approved Teacher & Community Moderator
