I don't care what anyone says... If you were really into this series, you cried when you watched this episode. Tessa dying was sad enough, but when they did the "Dust in the Wind" montage for the closing scene, it was the perfect ending. I have seen a few other shows over the years that I have really liked, but Highlander is my all time favorite. I wish that it didn't have to end when it did.

Yeah ..it was great..fun,sad,violent,romantic but had a message about the fact none of us want to die..but being alone is worse..
Duncan and all the immortals..love whole heartedly or not at all...the existence is difficult but they all want to live...unfortunately female immortals don't last long.
But personally i would have work out if the regeneration could be past on to normal humans...by now i.e brain scans ,body scans, blood work..etc
They could have down so much more with the story..even the Methuselah stone was something unusual but wasn't looked at properly..even the weird Good vs evil ending could have been handled better.
If i had money i would bring the show back with another Mcloud or Methos.

First time I heard this song was when Tessa was murdered. I cried. First time I heard Duncan in actual pain and still never coming to terms with losing loved ones after centuries alive. I became angry. First time I heard Duncan tell Richie to watch his head nonchalantly, made me realize Duncan always knew Richie was immortal. I laughed from realizing how deep this series follows along with the first movie on how the Kurgan knew Connor was an immortal from the start. I appreciated that. But somehow never went into the immortals’ origins. Ramirez’ explanation to Connor was never enough for me. This series is as dear to me now as when it first came out. Alright I’m done lol.

"Watch your head" meant so much in this episode. When the cast and the audience was dying in grief, this brought some light in. Some sorta bad moment, too much emotions, not the right time; thats why Richy isn't laughing. And exactly that makes this the best episode of any series since the invention of th TV.

Even thought I did not see this episode during its premiere, I did catch it when USA Network aired Highlander: The Series. Defiantly one of the saddest tv moments, I have ever seen. As much I enjoyed the show, part of me still wonders if things had been different behind the scenes and Alexandra Vandernoot had stayed on perhaps Duncan Macleod might have had some happiness amid all of the pain he endured during the six seasons the show ran.

      @@user-si9fx4xb6v, the possibilities!
But I imagine she would have died eventually.
Death is more interesting than an immortal and his love.
It happens on all shows where the main character finds a love.
So she probably would have been killed by Kronos or Aruman...and that's a long time off. Other possiblitiee of danger before that.
Interestingly, would Cassandra have been as willing and able to help Duncan if he still had Tessa?
Dumcan may have lost the fight in Prophecy had Tessa lived.

Alexandra Vandernoot wanted to spend more time with her family because the series was filmed half the year in Canada so she requested Tessa be written out. Due to the power of her relationship with Duncan, the writers felt the only way it could happen was by killing her off instead of just going off to Paris and leaving. The show really did take a more mature tone after her death.

Both these scenes and the song really get to me, even moving me to tears. I think of myself as not only having a strong, masculine side like the Duncan McCloud character but a soft, sensitive side, like the Teresa character, and whoever the blonde woman is that is lashing out and cursing and being held and reassured that he's not her enemy, "I'm not your enemy". Seeing AP as a prime anakin then a fall from grace done properly in revenge of the sith with him wouldve been something glorious.

R ELL: I agree with you but the problem simply was that Highlander was a cult-phenomenon and "syndicated" show. As great as the fanbase is (and I love the saga of the Immortals) it's just not powerful enough like the Star Wars fanbase is (I was a fan). Plus from what I've been told he's not one of those actors guys like Weinstein can just push around so kudos to him on that. I feel the same way about Peter Wingfield and several others from this show.
What this show needed was major exposure and sadly no big enough network picked it up. Ironically, just like the original movie masterpiece. However the best thing about being a cult classic over a smash hit- the fans are a more real brotherhood to me. That's the thing about stories like Highlander, The Thing, and Monster Squad- they "earned" their icon status.
I wish Adrian Paul, Christopher Lambert, Elizabeth Gracen, Stan Kirsch, and all my other Highlander brothers out there nothing but the best.
But in the end.......IIIIIIIIIIII!.........will be the One! ;)

2:30 is the part i remember best. i used to watch this with my mom when i was little and this was the only scene that ive remembered for 15 some years. the music and her throwing a rag at him and yelling at him, and then he grabs her. that was it... now i know the whole scene. thank you so much.

This scene is just so superb. You gotta remember, this was 1993. Shows didn't do things like this with the continuity like they do now. You felt like you were watching their lives unfold and not just another episode. The end of the scene with Mac walking across the street in slow motion with the trench coat ... Nobody was cooler than Duncan MacLeod

Sometimes, life is simply ironic. Eleven years ago, on a rerun of this series on cable, which, by the way I always tried to see again each episode.. By that time I was going steady with a girl very pretty, that was kind of a lot alike with that actress. To make it short, one day I broke up with my girlfriend.. the next day (saturday), in the morning, suddenly I turned on the tv, and they were showing this particular episode. I realized the night before that I'll never see again that girl.. But after a long time I could recover from that emptyness inside me, and found later, the love of my life; my wife.. This is just a thought that I wanted to share..
    Thanks,
    SailorGhost

Not many moments in TV land has touch me as much as this episode and has thought me the value of life itself. It all came together with the song also. Wow, 17 years, still hits me in the gut every time hear it playing somewhere I go back to that place, a sad but learning moment I will never forget. Thank you to the user that put this on. I close my eyes
Only for a moment, then the momen't gone
    All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
    Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
    All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
    Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind, ohh Now, don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
    It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
    Dust in the wind
