  • The inks I am using to stain and draw on the lino are as follows (I haven’t put in links because I know lots of you like to support local suppliers - way to go!). Black Indian drawing ink by Windsor and Newton. Liquidraw waterproof Indian drawing ink (for staining over) and Golden High Flow acrylic inks in assorted colours for staining. The lino is traditional artist lino which I have sanded lightly and then degreased with acetone - but you can do that with soap and water if you prefer.

Thank you Laura, I usually use shina plywood for my prints, I may try this method for a reductive print. Also, thank you for the inspirational landscapes! Wonderful work.

Best to test it - I think it might lift, but maybe not if you left it for a few hours first?

Thank you. Is there any way to stain lino when using water-based inks for printing?

What are your thoughts on Daler rowney artist acrylic inks? Have you tried this on the lino?

I’ve not used them to stain lino and I wouldn’t recommend printing with them

@@LauraBoswellPrintmaker well it does not seem to transfer using Schmincke aqua linoldruck ink bc it’s water based. I wish I could send you an image.
