  • Everything was perfect! Every morning I wake up at 6:00am to see the A380.842 Emirates Takeoff to Dubai to see whether its a good day cod heavy late rotation departures or not... on the 4th of April 2023, same date as this Qatar takeoff later in the night, the morning A380 it was the heaviest and most late rotation I've ever seen (from my home) so I knew what tonight had to offer for heavies!!! The entire day I was watching majority of takeoffs and it was increadible how low they were... super light (slight tail winds) and high humidity with wet runways and dew point being perfect also affects Sydney Airports heavies... This A380 qatar was something else I've never seen before reaching 400ft over stanmore station which is roughly around 7km away from the airport runway!!! I've also got a lot more overhead takeoffs from the same night which I will upload as once whole video shortly... stay tuned for that 👍..

Man that's awesome - I watch planes on Norton St. normally - and also at Qantas Dr. as well sometimes.
    Are you a student pilot?

It was perfect weather conditions with slight tail wind & it was just about the end of Sydney's 2 week school holidays so it must have been full to capacity 😂 thanks for watching though mate

It was too low, and the climbing rate was too low as well. I reckon the pilots might have inputed wrong take off data into the cockpit computer. Since I have never seen any commercial passenger flight climb at such a low rate even it is a heavy wide body like A380.

Duuuude I don't know what was happening man but that plane always amazes me just how low she climbs out of Sydney as well as the a380 emirates normally 20 minutes prior or after.... that takeoff in the video was something else tho, a slight bit of tail wind with super light winds & wet runway with cold temperature & it was just about the end of Sydney's 2 week school holidays so probably full capacity 😂 but I've generally never seen any takeoff that low out of Sydney to your probably correct with the wrong data or late v1 rotate stuff.. cheers for watching though 👍

Seems like it, but I've seen a few A380 takeoffs like this at Sydney. Basically, this specific route, Sydney to Doha, along with Sydney to Dubai, requires full fuel in the A380, meaning its really getting close to maximum takeoff weight and at least 500 tons. I reckon this plane used at least 3000m of the runway because of the weather and payload, and only used a FLX takeoff (about 90-95%) which limits the climb rate more than you would think. With a slight tailwind, a heavy bird like this A380 would probably only manage to climb around 1000 feet per minute right after takeoff, which is nearly 3x slower than the usual climb rate for a lighter a380. But I think there's always a possibility something like that could have happened, especially because that's one of the longest takeoffs I've personally seen at Sydney!
