Going over what ozone does in a reef tank, my setup and why you should run it. #aquarium #fishtank #aquariumfish #saltwateraquarium #reefaquarium #reeftank #aquariumhobby
I just added ozone this Black Friday. Wish I would have done it sooner. Like you mentioned I thought it was complicated and could cause health issues. Can't believe how simple and effective it really is. The water clarity is awesome!
Good to know you're getting great results with ozone .... Did you think about adding a air media filter between the air pump and ozone generator ? This will save your ozone generator for + 6 months
I’ve used carbon for years and years and in my opinion it’s a lot more hassle and ozone is vastly superior in terms of water clarity in my opinion. Carbon is great but my use cases for it isn’t water clarity :)
Great video. I have an ozone generator that I purchased almost a year ago. Need a few parts to make it work with my skimmer but there's a bit of intimidation playing part of the delay. Enjoyed watching 🙌💯✌️
Great video! I have a question for you. You are not using an air dryer, which would prevent the formation of nitric acid. How do you clean the Certizon ozoniser, when nitric acid accumulates on the corona discharge cell?
Hello friend, great video, I have 30 years of experience with ozone, one question, what is the natural ORP of your system without ozone? And what ORP do you have configured? thank you
Thank buddy! My natural orp sits somewhere around 250ish. I have it pegged to 375 but since i have around 8.6 in ph it suppresses orp somewhat which makes it difficult to get it over 350
It’s set to full blast. 200mg/h but it’s controlled by my Profilux based on the pro reading. It runs regardless of time if my pro drops below the set point.
@@viking_reefing I absolutely agree with you! I face the same problem as you. My ozone machine is switched on and off by Apex. My ORP has never been able to increase to target (380-400). Because the ORP will decrease every time you change the water, and it will take time to increase. I found that the ORP of my fish tank did not increase from 3am to 8pm, even though I had opened it at 200Mg/H. Also I found that when I run ozone it has a negative impact on my skimmer operation (BRS also mentioned this). So now I will only run ozone from 8pm-3am. I'm looking for a way around it. Anyway, thank you 's reply.
@@forsongonly2909 huh. My orp stays relatively steady at 370-390. That’s with automatic water changes throughout the day. I also don’t see any effect on the skimmer…perhaps it might be improved somewhat. However, I do see major differences in baseline orp if you keep detritus out of the tank or not. If I slack on removal the ozone generator has to work a lot more.
You should try ozone. You will be amazed with the results. Floss and mechanical filtration will not remove the yellowing of the water that happens over time :)
What is the minimum tank size required for a salt water tank and which fish I can keep? Please note that Coral is not allowed in my country and I am new to the salt water tank.
How many hours a day do you run it and at how many mg. I have a 240 give or take gallon system I have a Poseidon 200 I’m running 88 mg an hour about four hours a day trying to figure out what is best for my tank.
@@AndrewDeSerio no idea. As I said it’s completely controlled by my profilux. It runs as soon as the orp drops below the hysteresis of the programmed set point. Why would you be nervous?

Yeah man, it’s great! No idea why it not used more frequently

@@umoraes2009 not really as I see that adding more maintenance with drying out the media than cleaning the generator every now and again.
Ozone is super important!!! Great video!!!
It really is great!
I added it to my reef in June and I absolutely love it!!! Gorgeous reef, btw.
Good man! It sure is great :)
Brotha, carbon gives you that same effect. I been using for years now and it hasn’t been any different. Thanks for sharing.

@@viking_reefing be careful using ozone.
@@fishncorals it’s actually fairly risk free…provided you don’t do something really stupid.
Great video. My wife just got me an ozone generator and air dryer for Christmas. I’ll be hooking it up tomorrow. She got me a Poseidon 200.
That’s great. I’m sure you’ll be happy

Just get to it. It’s stupidly simple. Can’t really mess it up to bad :)

I just remove the metal plate and wipe it down
Outstanding.
Glad to hear it!
Hi. I just saw your video. I am from singapore. May I know what wave makers are you using? They look great with the left to right movements.
They are Nero 5’s mounted on OceanMotion engines:)
@@viking_reefing thank you just love them😊

Thanks for the video, great content! Glad I’m not the only with elevated ph.
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
It's a great video that I plan to run ozone in my tank. Do you control your ozone generator through APEX?
Thanks! No, it’s controlled by my profilux ;)
Same thing ehhe
I see you are not using a dryer before your ozone. Any issues with moisture going in ozone generator?
Nope. I rather clean the ozone unit like every 4-6 months than constantly fiddle around with an air dryer hehe
Hello from Brazil! Can we use ozone with shrimp and other crustaceons?
Sure thing!
@@viking_reefing Thank you very much!
How many Mg/Hour do you set of the input? Also, do you run ozone only at night time? Thanks

What are those powerheads on that rotates? They look like Neros.

How often do you clean your skimmer cup
I’d say about every two weeks
How you measure your orp? Is it necessary?
With my profilux. Yes, if you are running ozone.
Where can I buy it in US so it has 110V plug?
I don’t think they make them for the us market. However, ozotechs posidon generators are great and from the us
my tank 10feet with coral..only 2 big skimmer and.. i use the cheapest way.. that is filter floss ..no socks.. settle..😊

Do you think I could put a Achilles tang in a 50 gallon or no I’m trying to find a cool tang and that’s the only one I’ve came across I like
Does not seem worth it. Playing with fire if you ask me.
How so? Hardly any risk in my eyes
